Operation Flashpoint: Red River Co-Op Dev Diary Gets Real

Are you tired of the same old corridor shooters? Do you want your bullets with a bit more brains? Then Operation Flashpoint: Red River may well be the game for you, especially with its drop-in/drop-out co-op that enables players to band together with up to three friends and get cracking with some tactical shooter action.

There's the campaign, which is fully playable in co-op with any combination of AI and human buddies, then there's additional multiplayer game modes such as Last Stand and Convoy to indulge in. It's the "thinking man's shooter" according to the developer diary, so strategy and tactics are paramount.

If you want to find out more about Red River's co-op modes, then you should give our hands-on preview a read. And you probably know we have an interview with Principal Game Designer Tim Browne, who's also in the dev diary. Check out the video first though. Operation Flashpoint: Red River is out this week on April 21st in Europe and June 7th in North America.

The only disappointment is that those of us in North America must wait until June 7 to start playing this. After all this waiting, I would be lying if I said I wasn't pissed about this delay.

Looks great. I didn't play Dragon Rising but am tempted to pick this one up. Too bad about the delay in U.S. shipping.

I'm excited that the US isn't getting this first for a change. We gamers in Aus/NZ have to wait weeks even months for a game before we see the release whereas our US buddies get it. I don't know how many times i've said "make all games world-wide releases" it would be fair for everyone not just one group for a few weeks. Back to topic, I can't wait to play this!

I loved Dragon Rising despite it's flaws, it offered a different experience. Though does that mean I can't play those 2-3 additional online co-op modes offline? Like the Fire Team Engagements?
