Part of THQ's all-encompassing 'transmedia strategy' for Red Faction: Armageddon, Red Faction: Battlegrounds is a multiplayer vehicle-based combat game, designed as a tie-in to the main event. THQ has recently sent out an email to PlayStation Network users, detailing the release date and price of the game.

THQ has confirmed via the email that Red Faction: Battlegrounds will be tunneling into North America and Europe in the same week in April, meaning respective April 5th and April 6th releases on the PlayStation Store. It will also be priced at $9.99.

That is unless you're a PlayStation Plus subscriber, in which case you can get it for free. Non-subscribers will need to get a PS Plus membership before March 25th if they want to take advantage of the offer, although it's unclear whether this requires the aforementioned invitational email or not.
