Sony Computer Entertainment has today announced its acquisition of LittleBigPlanet developer Media Molecule.

The move guarantees absolute exclusivity over any future titles from the UK-based development team working out of Surrey.

"To bring them into our family proves our dedication to creating fantastic new experiences that we believe will cement our position as industry leaders," said Shuhei Yoshida, SCE WWS President.

Media Molecule won more than 90 awards for LittleBigPlanet, one of the best-selling games on the PlayStation 3. Sony's acquisition of the developer strengthens their first-party support as part of the SCE WWS (SCE Worldwide Studios) family.

We wait with baited breath to see what MM cook up next.

@1...ModNation Racers is actually being developed by United Front Games, not MediaMolecule.

Glad to see their (MM's) work has been rewarded. The security alone in having a huge publisher like Sony on board is a sound move.
