Bad Company 2 Vietnam's Battle For Hastings Begins December 21st

With Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Vietnam but a few short weeks away, EA and DICE have thrown down the gauntlet to the community to get stuck into the expansion when it launches later this month, with all actions in the theatre of war counting towards a cumulative score that will eventually unlock a fifth map to razz around in a tuk-tuk or destroy with a tank.

Performing a total of  69 million points worth of team actions will enable the entire Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Vietnam community to get their mitts on the Operation Hastings map, first seen in the PC-only Battlefield: Vietnam. Conquest, Rush, Squad Rush and Squad Deathmatch all count towards the total, so when BFBC2 Vietnam hits, you'll do well to get things underway as soon as possible.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Vietnam is due for release on December 21st for £9.99/$14.99. Check out the Operation Hastings trailer and our impressions of the game's Hill 137 map.

#2. You're an idiot.

It's not the number of people, it's how much people play. And they'll have the new map unlocked within a week, so stop digging for dirt on an excellent game.

They did the same thing with BF1943 I can't remember exactly what you had to do but the map was unlocked within like a day or two, if anything it tries to increase teamwork.

@ #4 agreed #2 you are an idiot or a COD fanboy either way an idiot tho.

#5 in BFBC1943 it was accumalated kills that unlocked the third or 4th map, this looks like it is team based points so we will get rewarded with the new map for working as a team which is great because FPS players are usually self centred and play alone, so giving us a reason to work as a team is smart stuff from DICE

Ok, I have a question, I have the VIP access that comes with BFBC2 limited edition,& its suppose to let you get the DLCs for free, So does this mean VIP users get Vietnam for free or are they still making us pay the $15??

@8, I just got the patch just now, 1752MB is crazy, & my opinion, i like Harvest Day & Oasis better in Bad Company 1, & i wouldnt mind payin for Vietnam as well, but the VIP paper says "All Upcoming DLC/Maps for free" so i just wanted to verify. =)

@11, it was his opinion, calm down. I think its bullshit how late they release these add ons. You going to call me a fanboy for that ?
anyways, I will probably get this. I love this game, but its going to be hard balancing this with Black Ops, NHL 11, and Gran Turismo 5.

@13, I agree. I'm not sure what their thinking was when they thought about releasing this so close to the holidays with some top notch games coming out. I LOVE dice and I love BFBC2, I'm on this first day, but I wish a lot of others would be too, but they won't. Due to money restraints and priorities of other games. Ah well, it'll weed out some players that's for sure. CAN'T WAIT!!

I wish it was out already. Maybe them working on this is why Medal of Honor was so shoty. At least in my book.

Day #1, for me as always. Looking forward to this and hopefully the online experience picks up when it do come out. Lately, there hasn't been a lot of action on the PlayStation® 3 side of things for what I have seen when it comes to VIP Map Pack #7, and the old maps are empty.
