'Planet' Teaser Offers Clues For a New VGA Reveal

Teasers. Some are tantalising, some are just plain frustrating and this latest teaser falls firmly into the latter category, offering up no real clues as to what it could be, other than its title and a brief flash of imagery.

This 'Planet' teaser kicks off with an image of a planet (obviously) as viewed from space and a crosshair transposed on top of it. We then fast-zoom into an inhospitable snow-capped mountain range surrounded by a swirling blizzard. On the ground, a red flare emits smoke and a helicopter flies by. And... well, that's it.

So, what have we learned from this short teaser video? That a game based on a 'Planet' will be revealed at the VGAs on December 11th and it'll feature snow, mountains and a helicopter. Frankly, it could be anything.

  • Lost Planet 3? I dunno.
  • Ive had enough of all this hinting to some games D: Just let us know already :(
  • Please let it be Timesplitters 4 :D
  • oooo timesplitters 4 would be cool, but sadly it wont be. Or has it been rumored?
  • Seems like uncharted 3 because it was leaked to be world of Decit
  • @6 The World of Deceit artwork was just something a guy did for his university project. It looks like this might be a completely new IP.
  • Timesplitters would be sweeeet but unlikely i think.
  • #6 maybe or maybe Lost Planet 3
  • I say its 50cent: Arctic Warfare
  • @10 loooool
  • Doubt its anything 3. It'll prolly be some Tom Clancy game.

The helicopter in the trailer seems to match the configuration and colour of the Mil Mi-8 in the hangar at the end of Episode Two, and we know the Borealis is in the north. In fact, if you freeze-frame it at 00:09, you can see that the CG model of the mountain changes briefly, revealing something angular trapped in the ice, possibly the Borealis or a Combine structure. I could be reading too much into it, but given the current clues it's the most likely known IP, though this would be highly unusual for Valve.
