Angry Birds Being Readied for PSN Release

iPhone and Android owners have been going potty over Angry Birds for quite some time now, but according to Rovio CEO, Peter Vesterbacka, talking at the first Social Gaming Summit in London at the back end of last week, console gamers could be getting their fix soon enough.

When asked whether the title would be going to consoles, Vesterbacka - which is an awesome name, by the way - said that it would be heading to the PSN, Wii and Xbox "for starters."

Those looking for news on a sequel may be disappointed though, as Vesterbacka - seriously, I might change my surname to that! - stated that they weren't going to do one, instead teasing that a "surprise" version of the game telling the story from the pigs' perspective might be on the cards.

He also stated that the upcoming multiplayer will resemble "old school Worms," although those details have not yet been nailed down.

What Xbox and PlayStation owners will get and when they'll get it currently remains a mystery, but if the words of Rovio's CEO are anything to go by, console owners will eventually be able to get their Angry Birds fix sometime in the future.

  • i've got this for Android, it's a brilliant game :)
  • Yess!! No more need to be with my brother just to play this!
  • what is this though? I have never heard of it because I don't play games on phones and dont plan to buy one of those fancy phones either.
  • Bet this wont be 59p like it was for my iphone so ill stick with the superior version i think! But 4 ne1 without the game its a classic!
  • i've got this on my iphone but i would get it on psn 1st day it comes out.
  • Are you freakin serious?! I was playing this on my phone today, LOL =D Very cool news! =)
  • @3 it's kind of like the flash game "crush the castle." love this on my droid. i'd gotten it for free so maybe it'll just be a few bucks on psn.
  • im not sure i would want tp play it on the ps3 and tbh it is a bit overated anyway
  • Before this game my iPad was mainly used for productivity, now it's another video game device. I can't believe how addicting this game is, damn you laughing pigs...
  • I love this game and all, but I don't think it would be the same without the touchscreen. I also don't think it has enough content to be a PSN Game. Maybe a mini, but not a full game.
  • @10, while I think that Angry Birds can work without a touchscreen. The Price point does concern me, I'd will to pay a few bucks for this, say at most three dollars. But I've noticed games that migrate from iOS to the consoles tend to have a high price point. I'm hoping this is a PSN game with a reasonable price so that I can get some trophies off of this game.
  • wicked but it wont be 59p haha, hope it has a plat, im beast at it on my iphone
  • What in the hell does "going potty over Angry Birds" mean? Are they shitting their pants because they love this game so much?
  • Got the iPhone release already. Stupidly addictive. Might have to pick it up on PSN. Now all I want is Plants Vs Zombies on PSN :3
  • For anyone who's curious, this game is about launching angry birds at these green blobby things who tried to eat their eggs and they're pissed! So, they go into these sling shot things and they launch themselves into these structures and try to kill the green things, either using the structures around them, use the bird to kill them, etc. To score high points, you need to kill the green things without using too many birds. The more birds you have by the end of the round, the more bonus points. I'm currently going for 3 star scores on all levels. This game is very fun! =D
  • Got it on my ipod touch. Would probably buy it again for consoles =D.
