Two Worlds II Delayed Into January 2011

Two Worlds II has been delayed from its original mid-September release date until October in Europe, but North America is going to be in for a much longer wait than gamers across the pond, as the RPG has now been delayed until January 2011.

Publisher SouthPeak issued the following (long) statement to the community explaining the reasons behind the delay:

"We understand that this is not great news for those of you eager for an October release and we can understand that you might feel that our European cousins’ potentially getting the game before you is frustrating to say the least. However, there’s a reason for everything and although we feel that the game is truly at ‘AAA’ level, that reason is that we want Two Worlds II to be absolutely flawless when it launches in the North American market. Although we could bring the game to market earlier in order to take advantage of the holiday buying season, we felt that we would do a better service to you by making sure that the game you want is absolutely as it should be. It’s vital to us that we always give you the best possible information and this is the reason that we haven’t commented on the date before now; we did not want to say something to you, only to have that information change once again. Now, we are in a position to confirm the January release date."

Long story short? Sit tight. It'll be worth it.  And apparently the game will be subjected to more stringent QA testing than its European counterpart, so SouthPeak has pleaded with consumers to be patient and to not give into pirating or importing the game.

"Please remember that by pirating the game, you are hurting those who worked hard to make the game for you, reducing the chance of another game in the future. By importing the game, you’re paying more money for something that if you can wait, you’ll be able to buy in January at a cheaper price and that will have benefitted from heavyweight Quality Assurance (QA) for the North American market."

Releasing in January 2011 could actually be in Two Worlds II's favour, avoiding the mad pre-Christmas clamour, while getting a bit of extra polish to boot. In fact, it might be a good idea for the European version too, no?

  • never heard of it don't care
  • ive preorderd it. suppost to be a killer rpg. seems i need to wait longer still just like LBP2
  • Damn i was really looking forward to it but if with the delay they are going to improve the game then i supporte them
  • @1 same here but heaps of rpg's dont come out in Australia demon souls has only been out for like a few weeks here
  • You are joking. I have had this on pre order for ages. @1 don't care? you wouldn't know a decent game if it smacked you in the face.
  • if you never heard of it stop tryign to get your fing post count up ben i mean jesus. the game was fing amazing i stopped playing every game eager to get a hold of this and now that it is cancelled i dont know what i am gonna play.and same number 5 i preordered this since they fing released the info fing 1 was awesome minus a few glitches it will be worth the wait but it just sucks that i wanted it so bad now its gonna be hard to wait
  • Strange that the NA version is being delayed but not the EU version. Could this mean that the former will be more bug-free than the latter?
  • First one was the worst RPG I've played in a long time. That was until Final Fantasy 13 anyway. But hey, maybe they grew a brain and realised that they wont be able to replicate the awesomness of Oblivion by ripping it off, badly. @7: It's not unheard of, some parts of the world are used as guinea pigs to test games that are usually improved for other regions before they release there. Japan does it all the time.
  • Heh, so Europe gets a rushed glitchy version that from the sounds of America needing an extra 3 months before it is good enough to be released tt must have a lot of issues. If comments on Two Worlds 1 are aything to go by also this sounds like a miss. More over if companies are going to release inferior products like this what makes them think they deserve any where near full price.
  • @1 then stop rubbing your epeen by posting something completely irrelevant as the first post. I don't mind a delay at all, gives them more time to polish the game and gives me more time to finish a few others before it comes out. win/win all around.
  • i love rpg games, hope this one worth the wait
  • Was looking forward to it but if it means it being less glitchy then all for it. Also means more time to play Fallout: New Vegas
  • @12 lol that's exactly what I was thinking too.
  • Wonder if it'll be like Baldur's Gate because thats what the picture reminded me of
  • i would like it if for once i could preorder a game and get it in time for christmas!
