You wouldnt be in the crowd of people who bitched about the look of the new sonic in the upcoming Sonic 4 would you?
I aint taking a pop at you two but its on the same basis, Dante is as iconic for the PS2, PS3 and the Hack and Slash genre (after all it was DMC that reinvigorated the genre on ps2) as Sonic was for SEGA & the Mega Drive (Genesis) just as Mario is for Nintendo.
When a character is iconic and has a legion of hardcore fans and a successful franchise, the character being changed is going to cause uproar! If this trailer had been shown and the main character wasnt Dante then im sure people would have welcomed the game with open arms myself included but im not interested in this game or anything to do with it! This new character not only doesnt look like Dante |

They really don't know what they're doing, are they?
Keep it recognizable and that's it. But they kind of broke that.
Also I mean look at Marvel vs Capcom 3! Classic Dante is celebrated and loved. And this reboot is friggin' unnecessary. |

i gotta say capcom is gonna lose aot of hardcore dmc fans cause of ninja theory dante is a icon through out all the dmc no matter what but i understand the change but a change like this is not worth making, changing dante is like changing kite from .hack, like changing sonic into a emo hegdehog who cuts him self with his spikes, like changing mario into drake and changing sora into some bum on the street making a long story short if you change a icon in a game you might as well just flip off your hardcore fans

see DMC3 was the prequel to DMC1 we all know that. but if this is supposed to be a prequel as you implied then this is one horrible prequel because it it looks like its in modern time and if ANY thing was to start Dante to get him to dye his hair it should be happening in year 1~100 or something.... when his mother was around... or something...

hehehe i dont care what anyone thinks of my replies ;p out of all the DMC games I loved Bayonetta the most (yes i know its not a DMC game and thats my point)
I like dante and virgil, hate every other character and hate the games, besides the video sequences the games were really weak. You all say this is the end of DMC like its some kind of armageddon of the game, i wasnt one tiny bit upset that they had modified dante at all, the only time i have ever been annoyed with a character change is when Ryu Hayabusa went into DoA and became a wimp. God of war, dantes inferno, bayonetta and ninja gaiden in my opinions are far stronger hack and slashers than DMC. Oh and yea I love resident evil as my favourite game and that got massively changed in 4 and 5 and i absolutley love capcom for it!!! em |

@25 i don't think it would be the end of DMC but its like u said when they changed ryu in DOA (i also agree with that)the same thing is happening here yea i wouldn't mind in they changed dante but keep the gameplay like how it was in 3 with the action funny etc but damm dante change was bs and wasnt worth making

I think you have to be a true fan to be upset about his change, and its easy for someone that isnt to accept the change and not understand how the hardcore feel. Im one of those hardcore fans that love DMC and what it stands for. When someone says "what does DMC represent?" Ill instantly think white hair, red coat, ebony / irony guns, sword and cool persona, who is dante...Not some emo black haired, skinny looking guy.
And wtf is with this union jack on his jacket?? Are Ninja Theory trying to say that he is british now?!?!? Thats utter crap design.
No. I think this capcom fault for losing the OG people that made DMC and the series when down hill from there. 2 as a disaster, picked right back up with 3 and fell kinda short with 4.

| Games are made to entretain for the most part...for you to take a simple change of a character n say u won't buy it bc of that is ridiculous in my opinion..if you have fond childhood memories with a game then keep em with that game. I am a big DMC fan (I have a tattoo that says Even Devils May Cry)
What I get from this is that it is essentially DNC origins. Its Dante, before he was "Dante". I personally love it. |

| I think DrugDealer has the right perspective. Personqally never played any of the DMC games can't wait to play them. Plus shouldn t you be more worried about the reimagining of the gameplay rather than the graphics, hell Dante may just as well change his apperance over the course of the game. |
