Japanese gaming mag Famitsu has unveiled the final two characters for Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition, the forthcoming Resi 5 revamp that will be shipped with an upgraded Mercenaries mode.

Resident Evil 1 characters Barry Burton and Rebecca Chambers will feature in the new Mercenaries Reunion mode included with the Gold Edition.

Barry, famed for spouting the worst dialogue ever has been a frequent bit player in the Resi universe whereas Chambers starred in the Gamecube's Resident Evil Zero.

Current Resident Evil 5 owners will be able to get hold of all of the Gold Edition's content including the characters via paid downloads if they so wish.

Famitsu also praised the revamp, partiularly for its new Lost in Nightmares chapter, which includes a strong puzzle element reminiscent of Resi games of old.

Resident Evil 5: Gold edition is out this March.

I wonder if they could track down the guy who did the voice work for Barry in the original. That alone would warrant a DLC purchase for me.

@ emperorzeus12

This game is FAR from bad.
If you like RE4 you should like RE5 - they play very similarly.

In fact the biggest complaints are from people that thought RE5 was TOO similiar to RE4.
They wanted it to either go back to RE1 or turn into Gears of War.

Sometimes change is NOT always a good thing.

I still haven't played RE5 but I loved RE4.

That said, I'm not sure if I should wait to buy RE5 Gold Edition, or just buy the RE5 and then download the DLC packs separately.

RE5 is $30 and the gold edition is $50. What I still haven't determined is whether or not the gold edition has $20 worth of DLC on it to justify the purchase since the separate DLC packs don't have a price attached to them yet.

I think the GOLD edition would be cheaper as it is going to have ALL the DLC for RE5. I think that is also including the first terrible DLC: Survivors.

I think Im just going to wait for a price drop and consider buying it. Only because I have brought RE5 from last year.

@ iPPi

If you haven't bought RE5 the gold Version is only 40 so I would wait.

you'll save about 10 bucks or so, have EVERYTHING including Versus mode on one disk and have what will be the rarer version of the game.
