Wow charge me money and you don't have enough servers to let everyone playFriday, November 27, 2015 @ 06:15 PM
@1 It would be crazy to have enough servers to cover a holiday rush of people. What would the servers do for the rest of the time? Nothing. They would have too many servers just to cover the few times a year the service gets overloadedFriday, November 27, 2015 @ 06:16 PM
What sony doesn't want u to know get ready for a long Christmas folks -_- https://twitter.com/hashtag/LIZARDSQUAD?src=hash&lang=enFriday, November 27, 2015 @ 06:33 PM
I'm a driver for a very large company and over the Christmas period we get more hire trailers to manage. So it's not an overly difficult solution. The company in fact doesn't even loose money on these difficult times, they gain. The fact that Sony has already taken your money i.e ps+ means their not prepared to loose money to keep you connected by hiring or buying more servers. Simples.Friday, November 27, 2015 @ 06:35 PM
Over these periods of time this is. Black Friday... ChristmasFriday, November 27, 2015 @ 06:43 PM
Is the store still down for anyone, or at least the web version?Friday, November 27, 2015 @ 06:43 PM
Eh, it happens.Friday, November 27, 2015 @ 06:59 PM
I'm trying to purchase some stuff at the moment but there's an error message. Looks like I'll be keeping my money for now. ;)Friday, November 27, 2015 @ 07:17 PM
Just bought 2 games and downloading them now. Its not the end of the world.Friday, November 27, 2015 @ 07:28 PM
The service has been down for how long, an hour or two? Where's my compensation?!Friday, November 27, 2015 @ 07:36 PM
i thought everyone goes out shopping on black friday, not sit at home playing playstationFriday, November 27, 2015 @ 07:43 PM
LMAO on a normal day they have problems. I go to re-download stuff or even browse and get tossed out of the store on a regular basis so, this is no shock to me. If they want people, like me, to go this gen, they need to get their severs down right like MS does. I like their system, I like the deals, But not even black Friday sales will make me buy their system if they cant keep it up. Before you think I am trolling please remember we are paying for this now and a lot of the games are going online MP only now too. So I want reliable servers or I wont buy their product. I don't want anything to do with MS after the 360 crap too. So I hope they get things fixed. Even year one for MS wasn't this bad and I know I was their when it was free on xbox. The 360 was when they started charging maybe sony should make it free until they get it right.Friday, November 27, 2015 @ 07:57 PM
No, not the new and improved PSN we've had since fall 2013 when they put multiplayer behind a paywall with the excuse that it was going to improve the network! That would NEVER have problems. Surely this article is mistaken.Friday, November 27, 2015 @ 08:04 PM
@2: You know you can temporarily rent more servers right? They should rent some starting around Black Friday and keep them until January, then when traffic slows they can stop renting them.Friday, November 27, 2015 @ 09:06 PM
@10 I'm sure somebody has asked. XD @11 Apparently not! XDFriday, November 27, 2015 @ 09:24 PM
I'm just waiting for the whole network to be hacked again at Xmas. Are they ready for it this year??? Hmm, I wonder.Friday, November 27, 2015 @ 09:47 PM
@16 Bad thing is we won't know right away if it's that or traffic since PSN is always busy at ChristmasFriday, November 27, 2015 @ 09:48 PM
@14 I do know that, but completely forgot :-P. I should have thought about that before commenting. I even work in cloud computing so know the simple solution is to get virtual machines so you can boot more up when there is a strain.Friday, November 27, 2015 @ 10:23 PM
PSN buckling under pressure? The mind boggles.Friday, November 27, 2015 @ 10:32 PM
"All services are up and running." thats a load of bullshit, i've just tried twice to get onto the store so i can stream some more dynasty warriors 7 and both times i got kicked off the storeFriday, November 27, 2015 @ 11:19 PM
@20 That's not unique to today. Go to the web store.Friday, November 27, 2015 @ 11:27 PM
What is new? this happens every year.... dur.Saturday, November 28, 2015 @ 12:24 AM
I've had no problem at all today with PSN store.Saturday, November 28, 2015 @ 01:49 AM
A lot of good sales on psn ,that's probably part of it , I bought 3 games ,140 gigs of downloads.. I'm patient have many sp games to keep me busy.Saturday, November 28, 2015 @ 05:33 AM
Down again for the last hour or so, they're not even able to take my money on the store. Ddos attacks or not their servers seem to shit the bed every year during the holidays. Maybe the US PSN should look into getting some better internet from Sweden and/or The Netherlands.Saturday, November 28, 2015 @ 09:22 AM
Wow some of you need to educate yourself on network traffic....Saturday, November 28, 2015 @ 12:00 PM
Just tried again to make some purchases... It still doesn't work. Giving up for good...Saturday, November 28, 2015 @ 01:01 PM
Who gives a shit?Saturday, November 28, 2015 @ 01:10 PM
@16 DDoS Attack =/= hacked cuz last year at xmas the sevrers only got DDoS'd and that only causes extreme traffic which makes it unable to login and so because the servers are too busy.Saturday, November 28, 2015 @ 03:26 PM
@11, I've never understood how the savings for Black Friday outweigh the hassle for some people. I would never want to camp out in front of a store overnight after Thanksgiving or wake up THAT early on one of my few days off to save $300 on a TV that I don't ultimately need. I'd much rather stay at home and play my PS4 and I'm sure I'm not the only one.Saturday, November 28, 2015 @ 07:17 PM
It should give an extra 15% off for ps3/ps4 games.Saturday, November 28, 2015 @ 09:19 PM
Why are gamers such cry babies?Saturday, November 28, 2015 @ 11:20 PM
@12 Xbox LIVE was a paid service prior to the 360 release. Other than the beta period, it has always cost money.Sunday, November 29, 2015 @ 06:23 PM
I hear Xbox live runs better then psn but who really knows for sure I only hear it from Xbox fanboys.Sunday, November 29, 2015 @ 09:43 PM
Is anybody else's purchases not working on the PSN store, using a web browser?Sunday, November 29, 2015 @ 09:47 PM
During the outage, PSN locked my games on my PS4 meaning it wouldn't let me play them. After waiting 30 minutes and resetting the console, they worked fine. I hope they upgrade the PSN servers so this doesn't happen every holiday.Monday, November 30, 2015 @ 11:00 AM
This happens all the time, to many services, and many websites when under a sudden increase in stress and pressure, this is not a Sony exclusive problem.Monday, November 30, 2015 @ 02:44 PM
@34 i know for sure... I have both ps4 and xbox one and psn is down between 5 to 10 times as much as live and live usually and i say usually is back up in under an hour. When its down as much as psn they will compensate the gamers. Unless that makes me a fanboy then go ahead and believe it. Lol @33. Its was free on original xbox as 12 said. You had to buy internet but not live... All you had to do was hook up ethernet and boom you were on. OT: after all the issues with psn getting hacked and going down on ps3 you think after charging they would seriously over haul their servers and provide way better security but guess not... I still refuse to put my cards on my account due to the fact everytime i try it puts on they account page with red https and unlocked lock. Adter researching what it meant i found that it doesnt even have basic, and i mean basic encryption and we all wonder why this happens to psn all they time. Sad but true.Tuesday, December 01, 2015 @ 12:21 AM
Expect to have another shit christmas then when people buy even more consoles and those dickheads decided to take down the servers again, last year alone was 1 reason why PS4 needs to have offline profiles for trophies etc.

With it being Black Friday/Thanksgiving weekend holidays and all that jazz, the PlayStation Network has been straining under the volume of increased traffic logging on.
However, at time of writing, the PlayStation Network Service Status page says that everything is currently working just fine, following a good few hours of outage.
Therefore, if you've been struggling to log on to PSN so far today, you should now be able to sign in and get playing as normal. Fingers crossed it holds steady for the rest of the weekend.
