![]() | Gamescom 2010: F3AR Interview, Steve Niles Talks Writing the Trilogy Swansong Written Wednesday, September 01, 2010 By Dan Webb View author's profile |
![]() Steve Niles knows his scares having grown up idolising lo-fi horror movie maestro, John Carpenter, the director responsible for terrifying classics like 'The Thing', 'The Fog' and 'Halloween'. And with a career spanning years writing issues of the Spawn comic book series, Batman, Superman, 30 Days of Night and more, Niles has forged himself a bit of a reputation as a writer who excels in delivering stories with a dark edge. Niles has been drafted in to co-write F3AR's story alongside the idol from his formative years, John Carpenter, and as such we've got high hopes for the apparent conclusion to the FEAR trilogy, which stars stalwart protagonists, Point Man and Paxton Fettel in a co-op yarn. We sat down with Niles at Gamescom to chat about his role creating F3AR's story in collaboration with Carpenter, and found out what he thought of the previous FEAR games and whether 3D gaming is ever going to be necessary. Also be sure to give our first impressions of F3AR from Gamescom a read, after you've enjoyed watching the interview. Oh, and be warned. There a few spoilers within. F3AR is due for release in 2011. | |
