Gamescom 2010: Call of Duty: Black Ops Pre-Orders "Outpacing Modern Warfare 2's"

We thought that nothing could outpace the irresistible pull of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, but anticipation for Call of Duty: Black Ops has seemingly reached fever pitch as pre-orders are currently ahead of those taken for MW2 at the same point in the game's release cycle.

"They're really strong actually," Treyarch Community Manager Josh Olin told X360A at Gamescom. "They're outpacing Modern Warfare 2's pre-orders. We're outpacing every other Call of Duty's pre-orders to date.

"There's still months to go before release, so of course the total number is going to get bigger. At this point in every Call of Duty's release cycle we're ahead in pre-orders though."

Pre-orders of Black Ops have probably been helped in no small part by the announcement of another OTT Prestige Edition, which includes a fully-functioning RC car with a miniature camera and monitor for your very own spy ops.

Call of Duty: Black Ops is slated for release on November 9th, 2010.

	Not gonna pre order it or even get it on day of release. The online just looks such a copy/paste from MW2 and is just so bad. Not gonna pick it up till i'm bored of Medal of Honour.

	the next call of duty will out do black ops, it will be a ongoing thing, im waiting in anticipation for my prestige edition bow and arrow for COD wild west ;)

	Im only getting the game for single player, 4 player co-op (zombies?) and trophies. I dont give two shits about the multiplayer. The only way i'll go back to multiplayer is if they take these silly care packages and ridiculous kill strwaks away but cant see that happening any time soon

	After MW2 i will find it hard to trust COD again at least its made by treyarch who made World at War which is one of the best ones (purely Nazi Zombies). Zombies may be the only reason i may buy this Only in Sainsburys £25 1st day buy.

	does anyone even play games for the story anymore? All I ever hear about is online, online, online... who cares! I feel bad for the developers who spend so much time and effort in creating a story only for the A.D.D. riddled kids to only give a shit about the online. 	@18 People can have an opinion on multiplayer if they want, doesnt mean they don't give a shit about the single player. 	World war 2 era was great though. I'm still finding Call Of Duty 3 lots of fun :) As long as Treyarch don't go too modern I will continue to support them.

	Well at least this might mean people stop buying mw2 seeing as its still near the top of sales charts even though it was released close to a year ago. Apart from the setting though this looks the same as every other call of duty.

	@31 excuse me...? as far as i know or care, the devs have designed MW2 so that it is impoosible to suck at in online, which in turn means the hostspaces are spammed by 9-year-old trolls who get a tactical nuke by avoiding all weapons other than a knife, and calling everybody else losers. what their point is, that you have proven yourself, is that there is an endless pattern of one game quickly outdoing each other, and people become addicted to it only because has COD written on it, making them "hate" any other shooter that is out there. its called Call-Of-Duty fanboyism.

	The multiplayer does look too much like MW2 already, but I'm still going to get it. I mean, the single-player still looks really good. Not that I won't be playing multiplayer, because that's where it is mostly at in CoD games.
