Having failed to bring home the bacon with Bionic Commando, Wanted: Weapons of Fate and Terminator Salvation, select members from the now defunct Swedish developer GRIN have formed a new studio, Whiteout, and already have a new project utilising Crytek's CryEngine 3 underway. And apparently, the unnamed project is already at a stage where the team has a playable demo running "We've got some very exciting concepts under development," stated Joel Fagerlund, co-founder of Whiteout. "We are currently working on a bigger project in CryEngine 3, and thanks to the excellent technology and support from Crytek, we have been able to carefully handcraft a playable prototype that will knock your socks off." The newly formed studio also has plans to break into the potentially lucrative digital distribution market - something GRIN was no stranger to with the decidedly decent Bionic Commando: Rearmed. Whiteout is hoping to repeat that success with future developments. "At GRIN, we saw the community's extraordinary response to Bionic Commando: Rearmed," said Fagerlund. "Couple that with the fact that new releases such as Limbo and Joe Danger have been so well received, we know that the digital marketplace is vibrant and thriving." Here's hoping that Whiteout also thrive where GRIN regrettably did not. [Via GamesIndustry.biz] | |
