Completely overshadowed by the Street Fighter X Tekken & Tekken X Street Fighter announcements yesterday was the announcement that Capcom has just started work on Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike Online Edition.

Yoshinori Ono stated, "We have not forgotten about SF 3. In fact, from it. We've just started producing to bring this back to you. Street Fighter III: Third Strike, Online Edition."

"Because you saved my job, the least I could do is bring Street Fighter 3 back to you," he joked, "Now that I have announced it, the company can't stop us, so we're going to take our time to bring this out. It's not going to come out in the immediate future, but just let everyone know that Street Fighter 3 is coming back."

That was all that was really said about the title. In fact, Ono didn't even mention platforms, but we assume that the Xbox Live Arcade and the PSN are the perfect platform for it. Whether it's a remake? A HD remake? A reimagining? That we don't know yet, but as soon as we hear anything, we'll let you know.
