Wow. It looks like we're going to up to our ears in Necromorphs, severed limbs and buckets of blood leading up to the release of Dead Space 2.
Not only has Visceral announced that Wii iteration Dead Space: Extraction is on the way to the PSN, as is resource management game Planet Cracker, but now there's yet another PSN title on the cards, and it's called Dead Space Ignition.
"Dead Space Ignition is the first of many exciting game extensions we have planned for the launch of Dead Space 2," said Steve Papoutsis, Executive Producer on Dead Space franchise. "The interactive comic-style game will give Dead Space fans a unique perspective on the events leading up to Dead Space 2, but will also introduce the storyline to a brand-new audience of gamers."
Ignition will give players three computer hacking mini-games to beat called Hardware Crack, Trace Route and System Override, with each offering different puzzles and twitch gameplay. There will also be branching paths, which will lead to one of four endings.
The story is written by award-winning comic book (including the Dead Space comics), video game and graphic novel writer Antony Johnston, and will introduce new characters and plot twists to the Dead Space universe, with Johnston's horror-story expertise making each of the game's four conclusions equally intriguing.
Completion of each narrative strand will result in an exclusive unlock, one of which will be a new suit for Isaac to use in Dead Space 2 when it ships in January 2011. Dead Space Ignition will release on PSN in autumn 2010.
