Prince of Persia Trophy Confusion
Prince of Persia Trophy Confusion
Written Saturday, August 23, 2008 by Webb

On Wednesday we reported that Prince of Persia will NOT be receiving trophies when it hits at the end of the year and we were fairly sure that we could not misconstrue the situation.

We asked Ubi's community development manager, Chris Easton whether the "title would support trophies" and the answer was a short, sharp "no". Meanwhile, Prince of Persia level designer, Michael MacIntyre told Eurogamer that the title would infact support trophies.

At the moment the situation seems a little cloudy to say the least, but we will be sure to get to the bottom of this next week and update you.

Don't you love it when a development team is all on the same page?

Makes you all warm and cozy inside knowing how the game will come out.

I'm joking but seriously how could they make such a wonderful game and be that broken?! lol

Dude. the game isn't even out yet. Shouldn't you reserve judgement on this "wonderful" title until you've played it? This seems like a no-brainer, especially after Assasin's Creed's strange reception and current place in the world.

Sorry. On topic, I agree this is nuts. These guys should talk amongst themselves and figure out what they're really doing. I didn't think it made any sense that this game wouldn't have Trophies. Even other Ubisoft titles (Far Cry 2, at least) have Trophies, so why WOULDN'T this one?

Now that Sony's trophy system has been in place for a little while, I think we'll start seeing more and more new titles release with them in place. The overall consensus towards them has been increasingly positive, and it would only make sense for developers to include them. I think developers would receive more backlash for NOT including them now, seeing how there really isn't any reason not to. Even games that are already in development - it doesn't take much to release a patch and incorporate them. Naughty Dog did it for Uncharted, and they even said it didn't take much effort to do.

They said it didn't take much effort because they allready had a medal system in the game. So there where allready code on how to unlock the in-game medals. All they needed to do was to add trophycode on top of that. It took them a month. Most games does not have an in-game-medal system so that would make it harder. A month is a long time, and I fully understand developers that has allready delivered a game or is late in the developmentprocess to say no to trophies. However, I applaud every developer that makes a patch, and or make extra resources to add trophies to games that are late in the development trophies.

Things aren't always black and white. Just because Uncharted has trophies, shouldn't mean it's that easy for others.

Man, there seems to be so much miscommunication between developement team members.

I seriously hope the dude who responded with the "no" is very very wrong.
