Member of the Month - May, 2009: mycuccismells

This month's choice was someone that the staff had been considering for the award for quite some time. Between his dedication to helping people get their Create trophies in LittleBigPlanet, his work on the ever growing list of PS3 exclusive games, and his overall willingness to help out any member in need in any way he possibly can, I am proud to announce that our Member of the Month for May 2009 is none other than mycuccismells.

Can you tell us a bit more about the person behind the PSN id?
My name is Dominic and I'm 24 years old. I am from Chicago but am currently going to school at Ohio University. I am studying Management Information Systems and will be graduating in 3 weeks if everything goes as planned. After that it will be back to Chicago to try to find a job.

What sort of setup do you have going back home for your gaming?
46 inch Sharp Aquos right now. 60GB (will be 500GB soon) PS3 hooked up through HDMI cable with about 50 odd disc games. Also have a Wii but it doesn't really get much attention recently. Plan on getting a nice 7.1 surround sound system and possibly an HD projector when I graduate in a few weeks.

How long have you been gaming and what made you decide PlayStation as your gaming companion?
I have heard that I played some Atari when I was real young at my aunt and uncles house but I don't remember that. I do remember me and my 2 brothers getting NES for Christmas when it first came out. Again when the PS1 launched me and my brothers got together and got one of those. Ever since then I have been hooked on Sony and got the PS2 and PS3 when they launched. I tend to stick to Sony because I know what I am getting, I like their exclusive franchises, and can't get used to the Xbox controllers.

What was the last game you bought, and what’s the next one you’re looking forward to?
Well my last purchase consisted of Killzone 2, Resident Evil 5, and Mirrors Edge all at the same time. Out of those 3 Mirrors Edge was definitely my favorite and a game I will come back to a lot. I am most excited for Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 followed by God of War 3 and Gran Turismo 5.

If you had the chance to improve the PlayStation and/or PSN store, what 1 thing would you like to see implemented?
Definitely more PS1 classics, even if it just amounts to adding the games that are currently available in Asia. I would also like to see them make Home actually worthwhile.

How much of a certified trophy whore are you? Does the trophy list play any part in the decision to play or buy a game, or do you base that decision entirely on the game?
Trophies make absolutely no effect on my purchase decisions. I have always been the type to play a lot of games but I wont play a game I have no interest in based on trophies. However, when I do play games I tend to try and get all of the trophies. Any game that I buy I try to platinum regardless of how hard or time consuming they may be. When I rent games I try to get all of the single player trophies (if I enjoy the game), but don't worry about grinding out the online trophies. I don't boost or cheat to get trophies, but rather chase them as a way of providing a challenge for myself.

What would you say was your proudest trophy and why?
Probably beating Heart of the Reich on veteran in COD W@W. This level was just so hard to beat due to the random grenades and non-stop flow of enemies. After a few hours of dying non stop it was just so rewarding to know that I achieved what I set out to do. Runner up would probably go to the Mirrors Edge time trials and chapter 2 speed run. Extremely fun to go for but also extremely frustrating at times.

If the end of the world was nigh and you had to grab three games/franchises to take with you to play out your final days to, what would they be?
Wow that is a pretty hard decision to make but I'll try. First would definitely be the Zelda franchise by a landslide. Second would go to the Mario franchise due to the diversity. Last would probably be the Ninja Gaiden series so I would actually have something difficult to play.

E3 is just around the corner. What would you like to see from Sony's conference, and what games are you looking forward to seeing more of?
I want to see something groundbreaking added to home that will actually make me care about it. I would also like to see some cool new games that utilize the camera. I want to get one so I can get my Burnout platinum but can't justify it without any actual games. Want to see more footage of Modern Warfare 2, Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, Gran Turismo, God of War 3, Ratchet and Clank: A Crack in Time, Ghostbusters, and Uncharted 2 among others.

What brought you to PS3T and what keeps you coming back?
I believe I was trying to find some help with the Pixel Junk Eden trophies and this came up in a google search for trophy forums. Just like with my reasons for always buying Sony, when I find something I like I stick with it. I have met a lot of really cool people here and can find out just about anything by coming here, so no reason to go anywhere else.

Any final words for the community?
In order to make this site grow and get the recognition that our sister site gets we need more involvement. Tell your friends about the site and encourage them to be active posters rather than just viewing information and posting only when they need help. Also go into every discussion with an open mind and we will all get along much better. You may not agree with someone but that doesn't mean you cant have a civil discussion. And thanks to the mods/admins for selecting me this month

As usual we like to take this time to thank the Member of the Month for their hard work and dedication in making the community so lively and active. Thanks again Dominic.
