Master Cartographer Trophy in Ys Memories of Celceta (PS4 & Vita)

  • Master Cartographer

    Completed the Map of Celceta.

    How to unlock Master Cartographer

After clearing the Casnan Mine and beating the first boss, you will be given the task of mapping the Great Forest of Celceta, where the game takes place. You will unlock the map automatically as you walk around, trying to reach your next objective/quest while beating monsters etc. You can check your progress at any time by pressing or by entering the main menu and choosing "Map."

This will come naturally as you search for treasure chests, harvest points and memory orbs. Just make sure there are no pixellated/blurry areas on the minimap (located in the upper right corner - you can touch the screen to enlarge it for a better view if need be.) You need to be careful about edges while exploring the lands though, as they sometimes don’t register and seem blurry on your Great Forest Map. If you have lines that look washed out, you might need to revisit those places for additional 0.1% or more.

Dungeons and towns have a fixed percentage, so you don’t have to worry about map completion when you are in one, but you still have to search every corner for treasure chests and harvest points, so it’s a good idea to keep unravelling the map either way.

The last dungeon of the game, named Temple of the Sun, unlocks 0.2% of the map, so you need to have 99.8% of the map unlocked before you enter it.

Don’t forget to get back to Casnan every once in a while to receive gold from Griselda for every 10% you unlock. You will also get two artifacts when you unlock 50% and 100% respectively. The second one in particular is very useful, as it fills your EXTRA skill gauge a lot faster than normal.

Map completion carries over to NG+, therefore you don’t need to worry about having an incomplete map, however, you will miss a rather huge amount of gold and aforementioned artifacts if you decide to leave it to your next playthrough.

  • When you press start, you will see in the bottom right corner the 'Map' icon, click that and you will be taken to the Map. In the top right corner you will see a percentage of how much of the map you have completed. The map is filled in automatically as you walk around, but make sure you walk along the edges as much as possible during normal gameplay, as even missing a little bit along the edges here and there will keep you from reaching 100%, although the game does give you a bit of breathing room, so you don't have to go and hunt down every single pixel or something. There are no areas that you cannot return to, but you can no longer go anywhere after the point of no return, so do it before you go on to finish the game. It is possible to get 100% at as early as the research lab, yo
  • you should be fine as long as you are at 99.8% right before you enter the last dungeon. If not, look at the map and look for places with faint outlines, and walk along those areas to see if you can darken them. Some places with faint lines you just can't get to, so if walking around in one area does not make a difference, move on and try somewhere else.
