maybe this is a clue to a greater conspiracy in the uncharted games. maybe when all the strange relics are collected all the villans from the games rise from the dead...... 0_O

@6 Yes, that is Naughty Dog's joke. They intentionally put the Precursor Orbs in the Uncharted games, perhaps as a reminder to how their company got started. Sic Parvis Magna, baby. |

That's why it is strange, because it is from another world, unlike the other relics that are from the past. |

I noticed the Precursor Orb as well, however, Naughty Dog didn't start with the Jak games, before that was Crash Bandicoot. |

You can translate the markings on the egg itself (it's a straight symbol-to-letter cypher). I think the top row reads NaughtyDog and I forget what the bottom says. |
