INTRODUCTION:
Hello and welcome to my very first trophy guide.
I hope that it will come in handy for some of the trophies in Tony Hawk: RIDE, the first game to ever use the Skateboard controller. This game can be fun at some points and frustrating at others, however I will try my best to explain how to get the platinum trophy in this game.
ROAD MAP:
You can platinum this game within a single playthrough, however I suggest doing at least two. Either you choose to play through the game on Casual first to get the hang of it and learn how the game mechanics work and collect most of the easy trophies on the way, or you can start the game right on Hardcore and try to unlock Tokyo as fast as possible. Difficulty trophies stack, so if you decide to start on Hardcore you can unlock Don't Be Nervous, Game Show Awaits, and It's Show Time at the same time.
STEP 1: Completing the tutorial
The tutorial will most probably be the first thing you will do when you start your career. This won't be a problem and will show you the basics of the game. You will unlock the trophy Ready to Roll at the end of this step.
STEP 2: Choosing the difficulty
Now, after you've finished the tutorial you can choose to play the game on CASUAL or on HARDCORE; I don't suggest a CONFIDENT playthrough however, as it is pretty useless. If you want to platinum the game as soon as possible, I'd suggest you start on HARDCORE, but you'll probably have a few problems at the start. Just try to finish every city and unlock the next as fast as possible by doing the challenges that are the easiest for you. You probably won't have any problems reaching Tokyo on CASUAL, but reaching Tokyo on HARDCORE can take around 10 hours.
If you choose to play on HARDCORE first, you will not have to do another full playthrough, and you will unlock Don't Be Nervous, Game Show Awaits and It's Show Time by the end of your playthrough, as well as other random trophies you might unlocked while playing through the career.
However, if you want to get to know the game first by playing on CASUAL, then you will only have unlocked Don't Be Nervous and other random trophies that you collected on the go. You should now do another playthrough, this time on HARDCORE. If you're done with this step, move over to the next step.
STEP 3: Cleaning up the remaining campaign trophies
In this step, you will unlock a majority of the trophies. Below the career mode option you can choose the freeplay mode where you can choose any challenge that you have unlocked and replay it on CASUAL difficulty. Do the trophies in any order you want, however keep Successful Matador for the end as it is the hardest trophy in the game and the reason why I rated it a 6/10 and not a 4/10. As soon as you have finished this hard trophy, I can easily say that you have nothing more to be afraid of; the platinum will be yours.
STEP 4: Getting the remaining two trophies for party mode
This step will take about 2-3 hours, the only trophies you will work on here are Spelling Bee and Last One - I Promise. Just follow my instructions in the trophy guide on how to unlock these trophies and you will be the proud owner of the TONY HAWK: RIDE PLATINUM TROPHY.
GENERAL TIPS:
PLAYING WITH YOUR HANDS:
If you ever find yourself in the situation where some level is too hard for you, or you just can't get some trophies with your feet, feel free to sit next to your board and position your hands on the board. Now you should be able to do far more precise movements than when standing on the board. If you're trying to do some kind of speedrun through the game or just want to get the platinum as fast as possible, then I highly recommend playing the game from beginning to the end with your hands, as this will shorten the amount of tries you'll need to beat every challenge of the career/to gain certain trophies.
TRICK SPAMMING:
Trick Spamming in Ride is a great way to get a lot of points and to earn some of the trophies. Trick Spamming, as I call it, can be done in all of the non-Halfpipe Levels. All you need to do is perform a manual, and while you hold this manual you do one Fliptrick after another. You can get immense multipliers and sums of points for using this method and it is relatively easy to do. Trick Spamming is even easier to do with your hands.
