Introduction

Shinobido 2: Revenge of Zen is a stealth killing based game where you play as Zen, "The Spider Lily," who tries to avenge the death of his love, who was killed because she got in the way of Zen's childhood friend, Shu "The Cypress" evil plans. The setting is in a once peaceful region of Utakata now captive in a civil between Daimyos fighting for power. The game takes place 6 months after it's prequel. The change from this game and the last one was that the main characters and the fighting mechanism, are improved a lot in Shinobido 2.

The trophies here are fairly easy to obtain if you follow the guide below, since the game itself lacks on trophies description.

Walkthrough

Step One: Normal Playthrough

Your first playthrough should be on Normal, since you are going to have to do all the playthroughs eventually, it would be easier if you start out with this difficulty. Easy mode will be used for the clean-up process. On this playthrough try to side with either Ichijo or Kihan, leave Kazama for the Hard and Legendary difficulty. During this playthrough, play the game and enjoy the story. You can get the Cutie Kaede trophy out of the way during this playthrough, by using Kaede as soon has you unlock her.

Another thing I highly recommend you to do is save money (you'll get the Moneymaker trophy in the process). Collect all the weed, mushrooms and geckos you can without using or spending any of them just yet.

Also, focus on the Two Flowers ending. All you need to do is accept all the "good" missions (the ones that don't have anything to do with your revenge.) On the first one, save Kaede by picking up the roadstorm mushrooms, on the second one, save princess Sakuya and on the third one rescue Zaji.

NOTE: You will also get the unmissable/story-related trophies in this playthrough.

Step Two: Hard Playthrough

On this playthrough you won't be able to restart missions, so I advise you to save regularly, especially on the story-related missions. If you fail those, you have to start the game all over again from your last save point(These missions pop up with a warning saying "You are willing to risk your life on this mission", so you can always click "no", save your game data and accept the mission again.) Apart from all that, the missions aren't that hard and it should be no problem for you to complete the game in this difficulty.

You shouldn't be aiming for any specific trophy here, just focus on beating the game on hard and saving money and collecting weed, mushrooms and geckoes, and you might just end up getting the Gaga for Greens and/or the Mushroom Village trophies. If you don't, then don't worry. You still have 2 more playthroughs to get them.

It would be best to side with Kazama on this one, since he has the easiest missions. And finally, try to get the One Flower ending. You can get this ending by NOT helping Kaede; saving Princess Sakuya and rescuing Zaji.

Step Three: Deadly Playthrough

Now this might be a challenging playthrough for you, but if you already beat the Hard one I'm sure this one wouldn't be a problem either. Especially if you've been making use of alchemy; you'll be fine dealing with both enemies and bosses. Here are some tips:

  • Side with Kazama - he has the easiest missions so it would be wise to stick with him.
  • Crouch - crouching is a very useful thing when you don't want to get noticed, and since in Deadly difficulty they can easily spot you, crouching is crucial here if you don't want to get spotted.
  • Build up Defense, Stamina and Zankoku Gauge - Since it's really easy for anyone to kill you on Deadly difficulty, you should build up on defense and stamina so you can last longer and get a chance to escape the enemy. Also build up you Zankoku gauge, because it's the easier way to kill bosses with.
  • Block and use Mikiri instead of recklessly swinging with your sword - If you by any chance engage into a combat with few weak opponents, you should block them and use the Mikiri [ ] (counter-attack move, you can learn/practice this on the "training" section. I advise you to do so, because it's a very useful and deadly move to master) when you get the chance to instantly kill them quickly.
  • Potions and Sushi - If you have any potions that give you Strength or Speed (or both), you should equip them in your tool belt for quicker use and use then when you need to escape or go into a hard fight (with Daimyos or bosses). If you have any Sushi (especially the fainting sushi), keep them with you at all times. You never know when you might encounter a large enemy that can be easily be stealth-killed with Sushi as bait. This includes Samurai Generals or Daimyos or even the regular samurais, if you can't seem to find a way to stealth kill him.
  • Master Approval (to blend one you have to set two negative components to the value of 66) - If you are having troubles defeating any boss especially the last one, since he can not be killed with Zankoku, Master Approval can be a shortcut to that, since it allows you to use Chimatsuri Sappo automatically, regardless if your opponent is aware or not. I've tested this and it also works on the last boss. Stock yourself with some of these and you can get rid of any troublesome enemy you encounter. The affect for this lasts roughly 60 seconds, so you can kill more than 1 enemy with it.
  • Although still doable, avoid Guard and Assault missions - These missions can be very hard on Deadly difficulty so just avoid them as much as you can.

With these tips I'm sure this won't be too hard for you. When you complete this playthrough and get the Legendary Ninja trophy, It's time to go for your cleanup run on the Easy difficulty!

NOTE: You don't have to get any specific ending here, but if you want to get done with the last ending trophy, you need to get the "Reflections" ending, which can be done by NOT helping Kaede, NOT saving Princess Sakuya and NOT rescuing Zaji.

Step Four: Easy/Cleanup Playthrough

In this playthrough you can clean up all the other trophies you don't have yet. One thing you should know about are the Missable trophies (Familiar Faces and King of the Beasts), they are won through a series of 3 missions each and these missions only appear ONCE per playthrough, so if you missed one you need to do it all over again. These missions appear with the "?" icon whenever they appear and once you accept and complete one, you have to complete the remaining two without accepting any other missions from the daimyo in the process.
For the King Of The Beasts trophy, the mission will be called 'Grrr (Hello)'. It's quite easy to notice, since it was written by a bear.....

For the Familiar Faces trophy, the mission will be called 'Further Further thanks to a Shinobi' while the first and the last one are very easy to complete. The second one requires you to kill 12 BEARS on a very small map, the best option here would be to either be throw them over the cliff (By pressing + ) or use Master Approval and stealth kill them one by one.

[PS3T Would Like to Thank X Edge and V3t3r4n for this Roadmap]

Shinobido Mastery
Acquire every trophy.
Apprentice Ninja
Beat the game on Easy Difficulty.

Simply complete the game on easy mode to unlock this trophy.

Full-fledged Ninja
Beat the game on Normal difficulty.

Complete the game under the Normal difficulty to unlock this trophy. There is hardly any difference between this mode and easy mode.

First Class Ninja
Beat the game on Hard difficulty.

This difficulty is a little challenging as you cannot restart missions after you have failed them. Complete the game under this difficulty to acquire this trophy.

The First Step
Complete the first mission succesfully.

When taking on your 1st mission, you have a choice between doing an Assassination mission for Ichijo, or an Obliteration Mission for Kihan. Successfully complete either of these missions and you’ll unlock the trophy.

Ninja Initiation
Level up for the first time.

Leveling up requires you to gain experience from missions that you complete. How much experience you gain depends on your performance during the mission E.g Amount of Stealth kills you performed, how much health you lost, the time it took you to complete the missions and the number of witnesses who spotted you or escaped. You need 90 EXP to level up, successfully level up and this trophy will unlock.

Chimatsuri Sappo
Perform a Chimatsuri Sappo successfully.

See ‘Onigami’ for more information.

Assassin’s Pedigree
Perform all the special Chimatsuri Sappo successfully. (1)

For this trophy you must perform a Chimatsuri Sappo in every way possible. You can perform a stealth kill in the following ways:

Side/Front - Technically the front because if you stealth kill them from the side, the animation will perform it as if you stabbed your enemy head-on.

Behind - Usually the most common one performed.

Above - Descending Stealth Kill (jump & kill).

Side of platform - While you're clinging to a wall (Peeking at an enemy waiting for the right time to kill them).

Fainted enemy - Stealth Kill them after you've knocked them out with a "Faint" Smoke Grenade or Faint Sushi.

In the water - Go for a sneaky approach while you're in the water, they'll be alert when they hear you running.

From a ledge - while you are hanging from it, grab them from below.

Behind a sliding door - Enemy is in front of the sliding door, you're at the back.

While enemy is holding an item - Wait for the enemy to pick up an item they find on the floor or something you have lured them with. Kill them while they're holding it.

Using Kaede also counts towards this trophy as she has her own stealth kills that she can perform, and stealth kills are different for large opponents too.

Alchemical Aspirations
Use alchemy to create an original ninja tool.

See 'Ninja Tool Craftsman' for more information.

Alchemical Genius
Create the symbol of an Alchemical Genius.

You first learn about this from Onba’s ‘Alchemy Secrets 7’ letter where he explains about boosting all jar components to maximum.

First buy the Butterfly Jar that costs 45,000, the capacity for this jar is 100. Once you get that, buy all the positive materials that cost 1,000. (The bottom 5 materials) Super Heal Weed+, Super Strength Weed+, Super Speed Weed+, etc. These items become available later on during the game at some point.

Start filling up the jar until it's full up. Say, for example you filled it up with the current stats as:
Strength - 98
Speed - 120
Expansion - 74
Heal - 83
Recovery - 68

Extract 99 from the jar to use for yourself and start the whole filling up process again with the existing stats you currently have in your jar. If you extract everything, you'll have to start all over again. Continue this until all the components in your jar are up to 999. Once you do this, your jar will start flashing. Extract it as a special item and you'll receive the Alchemical Genius item and the Trophy will pop up.

NOTE: - Creating the Alchemical Genius item is the key to making further missions a lot easier for you. A little trick you can do after creating Alchemical Genius is to make it again but with x99 profit of all the positive components at 999. Put all of each positive components inside the jar, then drop the Alchemical Genius item inside the jar. This will max out the components and automatically fill up the jar completely. Extract 99 as a flask for yourself. The remaining 1 in the jar is what you'll use to create Alchemical Genius again. You can repeat this as many times as you want, so long as you have the Alchemical Genius item in your possesion.

Sticky Fingers
Did you steal something?

You can acquire this trophy from a Robbery or a Thievery Mission. Right at the end of either of these missions, upon completion, you’ll get a brief message saying ‘Bring the item[s] to the client immediately?’ Choose no and you’ll unlock the Trophy at the Mission Results screen.

Shuriken Sharpshooter
Prove the strength of the shuriken.

This trophy simply requires you to kill enemies with a Shuriken. Buy 99 of the Shuriken at the shop since it’s fairly cheap as a total of fewer than 2,000 despite the weak attack in power. Equip yourself with any Expansion type item to double the power of your Shuriken. Kill a specified number of enemies with Shurikens and the trophy will unlock.

Recovery Elixir Popper
Coming back from the brink of death is part of being a ninja.

In your item inventory, make sure that you have a Healing Flask on you to be able to use this item on yourself. This might come naturally after encountering enemies and taking damage or jumping from high heights. Use this often and you’ll unlock this trophy.

Grapple Hook King
Throw that grapple hook!!

Using your grappling hook is done with the button on the D-pad. Your grappling hook must make contact with something for it to count. This is essential for a majority of your missions so you’ll get this trophy fairly easily. Use this a number of times to unlock the trophy.

Gears and Springs
I love wind-up toys!!

The easiest way to get this is to have a number of Remote Control Karakuri (Chick),Charming Karakuri, Karakuri or Wall-Dodging Karakuri that you’ve bought or picked up from enemies equipped on you. In a safe area away from enemies, use them as many times as you can since they’re not consumable items. So you can pick them up and start the whole process again (though you’ll have to equip them to your tool belt again) until the trophy pops up.

Uzumbi Artisan
It’s their fault for stepping on it.

Successfully make your enemies step on any of the Uzumibi type trap you set up to unlock this trophy. Assault Missions and Guard Missions are the best options to try setting up the Uzumibi traps. Assault because enemies are never scattered as they are guarding the Oxcart, so set them in areas where they’ll be setting foot to during their appointed destination. Guard Mission which makes your client easier to protect, set these in areas where you’d expect your enemies to tread as they try to reach your client.

Ninja Tool Craftsman
Become a connoisseur of alchemical ninja tools.

This trophy requires you to create items with the use of Alchemy. You can put together materials you have bought or acquired during missions. Blend these components in any of the jars that you own. Extract your item as a Smoke Grenade, Flask or Sushi. This must be done frequently for the trophy to unlock.

Person of Power
You gave it your all to wipe the enemy out.

This trophy is obtainable by pressuring your opponent with your Chimatsuri Sappo and succeeding. This requires you to repeatedly tap on an opponent during a stealth kill attempt. You can only do this while your enemy is either aware of your presence or has spotted you (When the eye marker on the right side of the screen is either red or purple). Guard missions are best to try this on. Enemies are always aware, but not exactly of your presence. Do this often and the trophy will unlock.

Saint
A ninja loves all without bias. (1)

For this trophy to be unlocked, you must heal your allies with Heal/Recovery items. Guard Missions are best because you are surrounded by a number of them. I’d recommend stocking up on Recovery Sphere+10 (Which costs 500). Whether they need to recover or not is not the problem as long as your item makes contact with your ally, it will count towards the trophy.

Moneymaker
A true ninja also knows how to save. (1)

You only have to save up more than 10,000 to be able to unlock this trophy. It can be easily acquired after a certain amount of missions depending on the outcome of your missions.

Covert Ninja
A true ninja always goes unseen.

For a number of missions, this trophy requires you to be unseen throughout your missions while taking out as many enemies as you can. You are aiming for the “Invisible” Special rating. Get this special rating often to acquire this trophy.

The Silencer
Silence every witness to your deeds.

To get this trophy you've got to get the Special Rating "Executioner" 50 times. So jumping in front of enemies and killing them is the way to go! Do not stealth kill them or use Zankoku on them, just slash them to death. Use a Strength potion to make things quicker.

Hard Worker
Complete all the tutorials.

You must finish all 7 Training Missions to acquire this trophy. They are Basic Manoeuvres, Basic Manoeuvres 2, Combat, Tools, Zankoku, Fukurou and Mikiri. A few of them are available from the start of the game, the others will automatically unlock during your progression through the story.

Onigami
Become a master of using Chimatsuri Sappo.

This is the name of the Stealth Kill technique. You are taught this maneuver during your first training mission. During the course of the game, you'll be using this technique on a regular basis. So this trophy will come naturally.

Gaga for Greens
Collect every type of weed.

See 'Mushroom Village'

Mushroom Village
Collect every type of mushroom. (1)

Mushrooms can be found anywhere during any mission that you do. Enemies can sometimes carry them too. They're not exactly in hard-to-find places but you will have to do some concentrated searching to find every type of weed. There are several/super types of Mushrooms:

  • Forgetful Mushroom
  • Super Forgetful Mushroom
  • Chaos Mushroom
  • Super Chaos Mushroom
  • Weakening Mushroom
  • Super Weakening Mushroom
  • Fainting Mushroom
  • Super Fainting Mushroom
  • Explosive Mushroom
  • Super Explosive Mushroom
  • Heal Mushroom
  • Super Heal Mushroom
  • Strength Mushroom
  • Super Strength Mushroom
  • Speed Mushroom
  • Super Speed Mushroom
  • Expansion Mushroom
  • Super Expansion Mushroom
  • Recovery Mushroom
  • Super Recovery Mushroom

Collect them all to unlock the trophy

NOTE: You only have to pick them all up once to unlock this trophy, you don't to have them in your inventory. I restarted levels often to try and get a perfect score and everything I picked up despite restarting counted towards the trophy. You can also find "Mega" versions of these types of weed, but I'm sure that you don't need to find those for this trophy to unlock.

Gecko Hunter
Collect every type of gecko.

Like the Mushroom and Weed, Geckos can be found lying around the place or with an enemy. There are 8 Geckos to collect:

  • Specializer Gecko
  • Gambler Gecko
  • Equalizer Gecko
  • Exchanger Gecko
  • Expander Gecko
  • Tincture Gecko
  • Gourmet Gecko
  • Treasure Gecko - This is the only Gecko that cannot be found, this must be made through Alchemy. You need a Jar that can hold 3 components, set all the components in the Jar to 13 then extract it as a special item to acquire the Treaure Gecko.
Jack-of-All-Trades
Versatility is part of being a ninja.

For this trophy, you must complete every type of mission. These are:

  • Assasination
  • Obliteration
  • Thievery
  • Robbery
  • Guard
  • Escort
  • Reconnaissance
  • Kidnapping
  • Rescue
  • Collection
  • Duel
  • Transport
  • Duel

Missions such as Kipnapping and Rescue can vary in quantity of the people you are supposed to capture/protect, all other missions pratically remain the same. Complete them all to unlock the trophy.

Salmon, Salmon, and More Salmon
You really like salmon, don’t you?

This trophy requires you to pick up lots of Salmon during your missions, it's possible to even acquire them as a reward upon finishing a mission. You can also make them through alchemy. Get enough and you'll unlock the trophy.

NOTE - You can always pick up a Salmon at the start of the Rokudo Valley map. Run forward to the stream in front of you and you'll find one.

Ninja Hunter
Every ninja must die.

For this trophy, you must kill every type of ninja. This may come naturally during the course of the game as you'll eventually encounter different type of enemies. This includes the Kenobi Ninja, Mosu Ninja and the Taraba Ninja.

Bandit Buster
Leave no bandit alive.

Bandits are the easiest enemies you can kill in this game, you can even stealth kill them by turning towards their back despite being spotted by you. Kill 50 bandits and you'll unlock this trophy.

King of the Beasts
Encounter a bear like none other.

This trophy requires you kill a Panda, unlocking the mission to do so requires you to complete missions for the client with a "?" symbol. After a series of completed number of these types of missions, you'll be able to do 3 specific missions.

Grrowwll(A Word with You, Please)'

'Grrr (You Beat My Brother)'

'Grrr (Hello)'

Complete the last mission and you'll get the trophy once you kill the panda.

Familiar Faces
You met some familiar ninja from bygone days.

Similar to the King of Beasts Trophy, this involves completing missions for the client with a "?" symbol. Keep doing them until you come across another 3 specific missions.

'Thanks to a Shinobi'

'Further Thanks to a Shinobi'

'Further Further thanks to a Shinobi'

During the end of your last mission, a cutscene will appear. You'll meet 2 old friends, Goh and Kinu. You will unlock the trophy after completing the last mission.

Secret Trophies

Scattered Petals, Burning Petals
Finish Chapter 1.

Story related, you can't miss this one. You will get this when you successfully kill Akame Kagetora (bandit leader) and defeat Nagi (she appears as soon as you kill Akame). To kill Akame all you need to do is attack him with a combo (keep pressing repeatedly) untill he falls on the ground, then block because he will attack you with his gun as soon has he get's up. Repeat the whole process untill he dies.

For Nagi you can do the exact same thing, except it would be more difficult with her. Another alternative, however, would be to lure her near the cliff then grabbing her (using + ) and throwing her off the cliff.

Reunion
Finish Chapter 2.

Story related, you can't miss this one. This trophy will unlock has soon as you kill your first Daimyo and collect the Tenma Mirror. The easiest way to kill a Daimyo is either with fainting sushi or using Zankoku. Depending on your progression, you may or may not have enough Zankoku gauge to kill a Daimyo. So you have to peek through the wall to the Daimyo's room (by pressing when facing a wall), equip your fainting sushi (if you have one press , browse the "medicine" section and when you find the sushi click and add to any place on your tool belt. Now to use it you have to press , , or , depending on which place you decided to equip your sushi), wait for the Daimyo to eat it and then take him the Daimyo from behind and press .

Obsession
Finish Chapter 3.

Story related, you can't miss this one. For this one you have to defeat yet another Daimyo, so you can use the same method has the chapter 2.

After you defeat the last Daimyo, however, Shizuku will pop up and you have to defeat her, and unfortunately sushi doesn't work with her so you either have to kill her by using Zankoku (If you have already leveled up your Zankoku gauge to the max) or simply by defeating her on a 1 on 1 battle. To defeat her, the best option will probably be to block with and then when you have the chance use Mikiri on her [ + when she is about to attack you], repeat the process until she's dead and the trophy should pop up after the cutscenes.

The Only One I Love
Finish Chapter 4.

Story related, you can't miss this one. For this trophy you have to defeat the final boss and beat the game. When doing the final mission called "Pursue Shu the Cypress!", ignore all the enemies and rush into the house. A cutscene will appear and now you have to defeat Shu the Cypress. Be aware that you are fighting a reflection of him and not the real Shu, so you have to defeat the reflection first and then defeat the Real Shu. The reflection has less health than the real Shu, however I find him stronger than the real one. To defeat him, you either have to use Master's Approval and instantly killing him by pressing or you have to defeat him on a 1 on 1 battle. To defeat him on a battle use the same method has the one referred above about Nagi.

When you defeat the reflection, the real Shu becomes easy to defeat. All you have to do is attack him with a combo by either running into his direction and then attacking him [ + until you get close enough to him and then press repeatedly], wait for him to get up, attack him with again until he starts using his magic. He'll say something like "How About This!?" when he's about to use it, just jump back [ + ], let him fail his attack and repeat the whole process again until he's dead.

Two Flowers
View the "Two Flowers" ending.

There are a few multiple choices you can make during the progression of the story.
To get this ending you must:

-Find the Roadsturn Mushroom!
-Save Princess Sakuya.
-Save Zaji from the Mosu Ninja Army!

If you did that this trophy will pop up after the last cutscene.

One Flower
View the "One Flower" ending.

There are a few multiple choices you can make during the progression of the story.
To get this ending you must:

-Pursue Nagi the Anemone!
-Save Princess Sakuya.
-Save Zaji from the Mosu Ninja Army!

If you did that this trophy will pop up after the last cutscene.

Reflections
View the "Reflections" ending.

There are a few multiple choices you can make during the progression of the story.
To get this ending you must:

-Pursue Nagi the Anemone!
-Steal the Yaksha Mirror from Usaba!
-Pursue Shu the Cypress!

If you did that this trophy will pop up after the last cutscene.

Legendary Ninja
Beat the game on Deadly difficulty.

You first unlock this mode when you beat the game for your the first time. I highly advise you to check the tips I put on Step Three: Deadly Playthrough on the Roadmap in order to make the whole process easier for you. They can literally kill you with ONE ATTACK, that's just how easy it is to die. Use Stealth attacks, Mikiri and Zankoku whenever you can. Also don't forget to save the game regularly, since you wouldn't want to hinder your progress.

You should follow all the guides to defeat each boss by checking the Scattered Petals, Burning; Reunion; Obsession and the The Only One I Love trophies.

Counter Puncher
Perform a Mikiri successfully.

See 'Mikiri Maestro' for more information.

Headhunter
Perform a Zankoku successfully.

See 'The Zankoku One' for more information.

Flying the Night Skies
Use the Fukurou to fly.

Using the Fukurou allows you to glide by pressing and holding during a jump, it is a technique that you will learn in training. Successfully perform this during a mission and the trophy will unlock.

Mikiri Maestro
Find fortune in peril.

Mikiri is a counter-attack technique that you will learn in the Training section of the Asuka Village. It is done by pressing locking on with , then and simultaneously during an enemy attack. This instantly kills all foes except bosses. Unlocking this trophy requires constant use of this move.

Ichijo's Peace
View Ichijo's ending event.

When selecting missions, side with Ichijo. This will result in killing off Kazama and Kihan and finishing the story. After you view Ichijo's event, the trophy will unlock.

Kihan's New Journey
View Kihan's ending event.

When selecting missions, side with Kihan. This will result in killing off Kazama and Ichijo and finishing the story. After you view Kihan's event, the trophy will unlock.

Kazama is Never Satisfied
View Kazama's ending event.

When selecting missions, side with Kazama. This will result in killing off Kihan and Ichijo and finishing the story. After you view Kazama's event, the trophy will unlock.

Cutie Kaede
Kaede is so cute! I wish I could play as her...

You automatically unlock Kaede as a playable character during the course of the story. Unlocking this trophy requires you to play as her for a numerous amount of times.

The Zankoku One
Become a master of using Zankoku.

Zankoku is a technique which allows you to freeze time and stealth kill your opponents, you learn this technique in the Training section of the Asuka Village. You can only use this technique while your enemies are not awar of your presence and are within your range of sight. For this trophy you have to use Zankoku enough times until this trophy unlocks. You will get this trophy eventually if you just keep at it, it shouldn't be a problem.

Killing Spree
Kill 2 enemies with a single Zankoku.

For this trophy to unlock, you will at least need 2 or more full Zankoku Gauges while attempting a Zankoku. When leveling up, set your skill points towards the Zankoku Gauge so you can attempt to get this trophy. There are multiple opportunities for you to kill 2 enemies with a single Zankoku, one of which would be on the "Assault" missions. There are usually a large group of enemies close to each other that you can get from behind. I advise you to do this on the first "Assault" missions since on those there will only be Samurais. They only take up 1 Zankoku Gauge each to kill.

All you have to do is wait until you see two enemies close to each other, then use Zankoku on both of them. [press and old , click , then browse to the next enemy by clicking with either the or , click again to select that enemy and finally click again to execute. You will then need to do some sequence using either the ; ; or + ]
