Introduction:

Resistance 2 is one of the top shooters available on the PS3, and has trophies as daunting as its presence on Sony’s line of PS exclusives. This is not a game that you should be playing if you want to get an easy platinum, this game will take time and effort to obtain the platinum, but will leave you with a sense of accomplishment and warmth. Most of the trophies will come fairly easy, trophies in the single player campaign will most likely come without even trying to get them and Most of the online ones will also come easily. For the other few trophies that will take time, namely “Killing Machine” and “Specter Officer”, you will need to dedicate yourself to solely those trophies. Continue reading the step by step for more Information.

IMPORTANT: GLITCHED TROPHY NOTE!!!
The Killing Machine trophy is glitched, but you will still achieve it. For some reason, if you kill an opponent with either Overload or The LAARK/Pulse Cannon, it will not “register” as a kill on the servers, but rather a suicide as the other player. However, the trophy itself recognizes these as your kills and will count it for the trophy. If you get your trophy early by a few hundred kills, this is most likely the case. Note that depending on use of overload, LAARK/Pulse Cannon this may be a varying number of kills. But now on to the step by step.

Step 1: Single Player Run While Focusing on Combat Related Trophies

This time around the difficulty does not matter, but I suggest playing on Hard mode since the game is actually more difficult on hard than on superhuman. You have to start on Hard or Medium since you must beat the game once to unlock superhuman, there is no way around this. First off, when playing, you should focus on getting the combat trophies. While these are cumulative and can be finished on your second playthrough, I suggest getting them out of the way since they can be a pain to get later. You should focus on getting the gun specific ones as they first become available, farming at checkpoints and getting them done fast so you can use the gun you want later on instead of keeping the crappy gun to get a trophy. One either run( but while collecting all on one run) you should go for the intel found throughout the levels. Since you are focusing on Combat, I suggest that you get intel on the second run but it is up to you to decide when to get it. On this run you will also get all secret trophies except for one, which will come next playthrough.

Step 2: Single Player Run on Superhuman While Cleaning up Any Missed Trophies

This run through will be quick and easy. On superhuman it may seem a bit more challenging, but the weapons dropped by chimera are much more powerful so you should get through with relative ease. If you missed any trophies like intel or combat related ones on your first run, cleanup here as this should be the last time you will play single player. Once you finish the campaign you will unlock the last secret trophy and will have been able to have obtained all single player trophies, if you are missing some use the stats menu to check how many kills you need/which levels you need to get intel in and using the guide go back and level select places to farm. So now that you’ve finished single player we move on to CO-OP.

Step 3: Co-Op
The majority of the trophies in co-op will come naturally, but before you start you need to take a few things into account
Which Class Am I Going to Pick?
Am I Going to Boost?
Will I Compromise Changing Class for Someone Else to Boost?

I will now address these three questions:

As for your class, I do not recommend being the soldier. At high levels, they are insane. Getting to that high level is very hard. If you are going to boost, then choose medic as you can boost him rather quickly in a private match. If you are not going to boost then I suggest the Spec Ops, he has decent power, can clear out lots of enemies with invisibility, and at higher levels when given the auger and invisibility has the capability to clear out levels on his or her own.

If you are going to boost, you are going to save yourself a lot of time. If you do boost, you will get to level 30 quickly with the medic and if you use the “jump into an almost finished game” trick, you will get “Specter Intel” trophy in a day or so compared to the week it will take when doing the trophy legitimately. If you do play legitimately I suggest playing Orick as you get the most points there in a room with one of each class, make your room name need ____ and ____ where the “___” are whichever two classes you are not.

Like you, there are other people out there trying to get there class to level 30. Sometimes, this means for the good of the team, you may need to change your class. Now this may not seem like a big deal, but it can be huge since co-op is about teamwork, not you. Co-op is not about letting the other guy wait for you to revive him while you kill the Titan, it is not about trying to get the greytech first, and it is not about you getting to max out your class while other people change classes so that the room is balanced. If you play big rooms, this is not a problem as you need multiple of each. But if you are following my advice and playing small rooms, having one of each is essential so before you start to even play co-op, make sure you realize not only the two above matters, but also if you are going to leave a room if you can’t play as your class, or if you are willing to compromise.

So now that you are prepared for co-op here is the fastest method depending on your style:

BOOSTING:

This is a very quick method for getting all trophies if boosting; Find partners to boost and max out your medic class first. This can be done on the first map since there are plenty of cars. If you didn’t know the trick, you take a medic and put him next to a car while spec ops throw him ammo while standing on the car. The medic heals the spec ops for points while the spec ops give him healing shots. The more spec ops the faster this goes. Once you’ve gotten your “Specter Officer” Trophy, you should look for games that look like they have a lot of people and have been going on and you simply join the game in progress. This will allow you to get your intel in the fastest way possible. Try to find a 5 of these with 7 so that you can get the “Team Player” Trophy. Next play Orick, this will get you greytech and give you plenty of elite chimera to kill.

NOT BOOSTING:

Start out by Going region to region getting all the intel for each. Check each region for how many missions you need to complete. At this point you hopefully have a few of the bronze trophies, if not then once you have all the intel for co-op start playing Orick with 3-4 people. This will give you a good chance to max out your class, kill elite chimera, and get the remaining trophies. This method is simpler but more time consuming.

So now that you’ve done the easy steps time for the hardest one; Competitive.

Step 4: Competitive; the 10,000 Kill Grind
So, you’ve made it this far. You’ve probably gotten to the point where you either hate the game and want your platinum or you love the game and want to find out about the rest of the game. By the time you’re done with competitive, you will hate the game. Start playing team deathmatches or skirmishes, go all out for kills and get as many as you can, the 10,000 kills will take a very long time to get. In the process you will get the “Point Man” trophy, and once you hit level 15 go through the list of berserks and use them all. You will also get “Salute Me” in the process of getting “Killing Machine.” I found that the best way to get kills was to tag someone with the bullseye, spray bullets to kill them, then pick up their ammo for more tags. Use the LAARK/PULSE CANNON as your berserk, you can get a lot of free kills that way. I wish you luck, this trophy is one that cannot be gotten with some fancy strategy, only sheer will and determination. Try out different guns and see what works for you.

Rampage!
Kill 40 hybrids in the Single Player Campaign.

This trophy is the easiest in the game. You should get this in the middle of the first level.

Covert Ops
Collect 5 pieces of Intel in the Single Player Campaign.

See "Master Spy."

Nowhere to Hide
Tag and kill 30 enemies with the Bullseye in the Single Player Campaign.

To get a kill that counts for this trophy, start by shooting a secondary attack at an enemy and then shooting wildly at the enemy. You're going to want to do this in the Prologue Level. You can get this and most likely will by playing through the game but if you want you can just wait till you grab a bullseye for the first time, tag a few enemies and let loose. You should then reload the checkpoint and do this again.

Sharpshooter
Get 30 headshots while scoped in with the Fareye or Marksman in the Single Player Campaign.
This can be done easiest with the Fareye. You should find one, use time freeze to give yourself time to lock onto their head, and let loose. If you want to farm this go the Main Street, Idaho checkpoint and pick up the marksman. You can still get headshots very easily with the marksman so simply kill a few with headshots and then blow up yourself with a car and repeat. If you want to use the Fareye make sure that you are using the time freeze ability( secondary ) and then shoot them in the head. You can find one at the very end before you fight Daedalus. Don't use it until you begin the fight and then use the gun to kill the two chimera who run at you. Once you've killed them kill yourself with a grenade and repeat.
Explosives Expert
Get 150 kills with the Carbine 40mm, LAARK, or Frag Grenade in the Single Player Campaign.
When you go onto the chimeran ship for the first time, you will come across a tunnel where weak crawling enemies will come out and attack you. Save your Carbine tube for now and pop one out once some come out then kill yourself. This will take about 15 go throughs depending on how many you've already gotten.
They Go "Boom"
Get 30 kills with the Magnum secondary fire in the Single Player Campaign.

The easiest place to get this is in Idaho when the grimms pop out of the pods and run at you after you've rescued Hawthorne. There is one in the garage near the house. Grab it, shoot the ground near some grimms, make it explode, and then kill yourself and repeat.

Pyromaniac
Set 100 enemies of fire with the Bellock Semi-Automic, Air-Fuel Grenade, Spider Grenade, or environmental hazard in the Single Player Campaign.

You will find a Bellock outside of the diner in Idaho. Pick it up and save it for the Auditorium. Once you get there, you will see TONS of grimms run at you. Shoot a few of them with the primary fire, then kill yourself with a grenade and repeat.

Spitting Lead
Kill 50 enemies using the Wraith with the force barrier engaged in the Single Player Campaign.

At the Holar Tower checkpoint at... Holar Tower, you will find a wraith shortly after the checkpoint. Pick it up and wait for Leapers to come attack you. Make sure your shield is up and let loose. After you've killed them let the Titan kill you and repeat.

I See You
Kill 50 enemies through solid matter with the Auger in the Single Player Campaign.
If you don't have this by the time you hit the diner in Idaho, pick up an Auger, go into the next few rooms, and clear them out from behind a bookcase.
Talk To The Hand
Use the Auger force barrier to stop 150 incoming enemy shots in the single player Campaign.
You will get this fairly quickly. At the same spot you will get "I See You", hop out and throw up a shield and wait. That simple.
For Close Encounters
Get 10 one-hit head-shot kills with the Shotgun in the Single Player Campaign.
Do this at the same point you get the "They Go Boom" trophy at. Let the grimms get close and then unload, try aiming more up if you aren't getting them to die by a headshot.
Pincushion
Get 50 kills with the Hedgehog in the Single Player Campaign.

Save all of the hedgehogs you get in Idaho for the same spot you will use for "Sharpshooter." This won't take long but make sure that you try to get as many as you can with a single grenade to speed this up.

Up Close and Personal
Get 50 melee kills with any weapon in the Single Player Campaign.

Again, load up the same place you get "They Go Boom" at. This should be done on easy, the grimms will go down with one hit and won't take long to get 50.

Wrecking Machine
Destroy 40 vehicles in the Single Player Campaign.

You can get this at the place you farm "Sharpshooter" as there are many cars there.

Mind Your Surroundings
Get 50 indirect kills using explosive objects in levels in the Single Player Campaign.

Again, go to the place you will farm "Sharpshooter" and use the cars to kill the hybrids.

Berserker
Use every berserk at least once in Online Competitive Multiplayer.

This will only count if you select Play, not Create Game. You have to wait until you are Level 15 to unlock them all so once you have one unlocked, go use it once and pop it away. Here is a list.

Adrenaline Boost - (Human & Chimera)
Advance Radar - (Human Only)
Electrostatic Orb Bust - (Human & Chimera)
Invisibility -(Human & Chimera)
Ironheart - (Human & Chimera)
LAARK - (Human Only)
Overload - (Human & Chimera)
Prototype Ammo - (Human & Chimera)
Ring of Life - (Human & Chimera)
Chimera Rage (Chimera Only)
Snake Eyes (Chimera Only)

Specter Recon
Collect 50 pieces of gray tech in the Cooperative Campaign.

This won't take long if you play Orick. Three or four games and you should have this easy.

Specter Initiate
Complete 20 missions in the Cooperative Campaign.

If you want to get this quickly, join a game that is in process and wait for it to finish. This won't take long to get, you will get this if you go for "Specter Intel."

Team Player
Complete 5 missions with a full party of 8 in the Cooperative Campaign.

As long as you have a total of 8 people in your party when the map ends you will get the trophy. You only need three others for this, you can boost it by having everyone hook up a second controller and having the other guys sit there.

Tour of Duty
Complete one mission on each region in the Cooperative Campaign.

You will get this if you go for "Specter Intel" so just go through each region one by one and you will get this.

There are 6 regions.
Chicago
Orick
Bryce Canyon
Bracknell
Axbridge
Holar Tower
Salute Me
Achieve the rank of Lieutenant.

If you want points quickly it depends at what mode you are good at. You will get this by playing online though, I even had max level well before my platinum. In the event that you aren't skilled at any mode I suggest using the experience glitch, see the "Specter Officer" Trophy for details.

Exotic Weapon Collector
Get 20 kills with each weapon in the Single Player Campaign.

You can check which weapons you need kills with in your stats. This should come naturally but if you need kills with a weapon here are good locations for non trophy weapons:

Locations:
Splicer: Chicago, at the beginning with the grimms

LAARK: Save the one from when you are about to kill the Titans in San Fransisco. Then wait for the next checkpoint and unload

Pulse Cannon: Again, in San Fransisco save the cannon from when you fight the Leviathan and unload on the hybrids when you fight them with all of the SRPA Soldiers and Malakov.

Master Spy
Collect all the Intel documents in the Single Player Campaign.
Snipe Hunt
Kill 30 Spinners in the Single Player Campaign.

When you first see the field in Idaho you will see little bugs running on the ground. You can find plenty here so keep looking for them around this area, kill them, and reload.
Xenocide
Kill 1000 enemies in the Single Player Campaign.

You will get this throughout the course of the game so I would just play the game and wait.

Point Man
Earn 1 million XP from ranked games in online Competitive mode.

If you are going for "Killing Machine" you'll get about 8 of these. Really though, this will be the first trophy you should get in Competitive so keep playing what you feel comfortable playing and keep at it.

Specter Officer
Reach max level (30) with one class in the Cooperative Campaign.

See my Roadmap for a detailed description of how to get this trophy.

Primarch Hunter
Kill 200 Elite Chimerans in the Cooperative Campaign.

If you are not the one who kills the chimera it doesn't count. These are the Primarchs that drop greytech that you are looking for. You will get this fastest at either Orick or Holar Tower. Keep playing and you will get this naturally.

Killing Machine
Score 10,000 kills in ranked matches in Online Competitive Multiplayer.

This will take longer to get than all others combined. You get the most kills in TDM's or Skirmishes so just grind it out and I wish you luck. See the Online Strategies post for tips:

http://www.ps3trophies.org/forum/resistance-2/17769-trophy-guide-roadmap.html#post245187

Specter Intel
Collect all Intel in the Cooperative Campaign.

To get this You have to complete each of the 6 missions the specified amount of times to earn all of the mission status reports. You can get this quickly by jumping into games that look like they are about to end soon and waiting.

Report Count:
Chicago: 10 Status Reports
Orick: 12 Status Reports
Axbridge: 9 Status Reports
Bracknell: 10 Status Reports
Bryce Cannon: 12 Status Reports
Holar Tower: 8 Status Reports
