There are 56 Trophies that can be earned in this title.

Show / Hide Guide Roadmap

OVERVIEW:
-Estimated trophy difficulty: 6/10
-Offline: 47
-Online: 9
-Time to platinum: 60 - 80 hours
-Minimum number of playthoughs: 1
-Missable trophies: None
-Glitched trophies: Possibly "T-Mobile myFav", "Turn in the Work", and "Everyone's a Critic". See the respective trophies for details.
-Roadmap: Welcome to the high-paced world of Midnight Club: Los Angeles. The cars a slick, the people are sexy and everybody has an attitude. Your objective is to transform yourself from a wannabe street racer to a full fledged midnight clubber. How do you do this, you ask? You win race, after race, after race, after race... If you like racing, this game's for you. However, even the most devout racers may want to minimize some of the tedium involved in getting the platinum for this game. Thus, I've compiled a reasonable way to go about doing this. So, without further delay, here is the roadmap:

Step 0: Get a USB flash drive for back-up saves. This game comes with an auto save feature that saves pretty much after any event happens, even things as simple as exiting the garage. Now, you can turn this off and manually save, but that's a pain in the butt. The real reason you want to have a USB back-up drive is due to pink-slip races. These are races where you pit your ride against a competitor's. The winner of the race takes home both rides. Unfortunately, as soon as you enter a pink-slip race, the game auto-saves and if you don't win the race either from loosing, quitting or from turning off your PS3, you'll still loose your ride. The good news is that you'll never randomly enter a pink-slip race. And even when you initiate a pink-slip race, the game will prompt you with a warning. Use this time to quit the game and back-up your save file. This way if you loose the match, you just quit the game again and overwrite the save file on your PS3 with the save file on your USB flash drive.

Step 1: Complete the Main Story. Here's how you want to go about doing this. Start a new game. Pick any care you like. They should all be "tuner" type cars, but if not, pick a tuner. (I used the "sporty" looking one.) Keep progressing through story related missions until you've been invited to a pink-slip race for Mitsubishi Lancer DUB Edition. (Be sure to do the back-up save outlined in Step 0 before entering the race.) Once you've won the Lancer, use it to continue advancing through the story. Here are some tips for how I recommend progressing:
  • Be sure to do races that allow you to "network" (i.e. meet new people and find new race locations).
  • You'll gain special abilities pretty early in the game. You can use whenever you like (after you've charged them up), either in races or just cruising. All of the abilities have to be used a certain number of times to unlock an associated trophy. So, you should constantly be using the abilities as you drive the streets of LA.
  • You should only upgrade the racing attributes to the car you're currently driving. This means don't buy new vehicles, don't upgrade any other cars that happen to be in your inventory and don't "pimp your ride". This will help conserve cash, which will be nice to have later in the game. If you want to know why you want to conserve cash see the spoiler tag under the "Rags to Riches" trophy below.

At some stage, you'll be invited to race the "tuner champ". Race him (and unlock the associated trophy). By this time, the pink-slip race for Camaro Concept DUB Edition should be available. This is a "muscle" car. Repeat what you did with the Lancer with this car (and unlock the trophy for beating the "muscle champ" along the way). By this time, you should have progressed far enough in the game to be able to purchase the Ninja. While this is a mere motorcycle and costs less than $20K, it is hands down the best vehicle in the game. Use it for the remainder of the game, upgrading as you progress. It will take some getting used to since you've only been using the Lancer and the Camaro thus far (right?), but again the payoff is well worth it. Once you complete the story (i.e. complete the mission that is followed by the end credits), you'll be in a very good position to move on to...

Step 2: Complete the Online Trophies. Since the story is complete, you'll have some pretty nice vehicles at your disposal. This will make life online a bit nicer. However, if you don't plan on boosting, life online can still be a pain and you'll be spending a LOT of time online. I very highly recommend you get a boosting partner for the online trophies. The biggest pain is the T-mobile trophy. This requires that you start (not necessarily finish) a game with 5 of your friends. See the trophy for more details. Once the online is finished, you'll be doing...

Step 3: Mop-up. This is where the real grinding begins. Before going for anything specifically, I recommend "gold starring" all of the "Goal Attack" side missions. See the "True Dedication" trophy for details. Other than that, just be sure to save the "drive X number of miles" trophies for last.

[PS3T would like to thank Cauchy for this Road Map]

Streaker
Win 5 races in a row offline.

You can get this right away, if you want, but it doesn't really matter. I recommend waiting until you have a decent car equipped with the ARGO special power. When you have this, just find a green dynamic freeway race. When you finish (win), just stop and wait and your opponent will eventually drive past you. Then you can initiate another race. Beat him/her five times in a row for the trophy. Note: Doing this, you have a slightly higher chance of being chased by the cops. So, if you prefer, you can just do other green races. The trade off is that these typically take much longer than Dynamic freeway races.

Neither Bird nor Plane
Travel 1020 feet in a single jump.

This is really easy if you do the jump given here:

Wanted Man
Pull over while the police are in 'pull over' mode, then drive away during the ticketing cutscene.

Just drive by a cop over the speed limit and when the words "pull over" appear in your odometer HUD, stop. A cutscene will ensue. Press the acceleration button to drive off.

Out On Bail
Evade the police successfully when they are in pursuit.

Invariably, you will get chased by cops in this game. When this happens, you have to loose them to get this trophy. Easy ways to evade the cops are to hop on a freeway and just out run them or go to the Hills and wind around until they get confused. You may as well go for this trophy when going for "Wanted Man".

The Basics
Complete one of the missions you receive in the mission log.

It may be possible to play this game without completing a single mission, but let's be realistic here. There is pretty much no way to miss this trophy.

Paparazzi
Save 16 photos to your photo album.

To get into photo mode, pause the game and press L3 (or R3). Take 15 photos and save them.

What's a Speed Limit?
Win 15 dynamic freeway races.

In my opinion, these are the easies races to win. Just repeat the strategy outlined in Streaker.

Saving Los Angeles
Enter the Race Editor, create a race, and then save it.

Well, I can't really make this clearer, can I? Race editor is located in your second pause menu.

Where in the World?
Find half of the collectables in Los Angeles.

See Waldo's Still Missing.

Winning With Less
Win 10 races on a motorcycle.

In my opinion, the Ninja is the best vehicle in this game. Just wait until you have unlocked tier 4 vehicles so you can get this amazing ride. You will have to win way more than 10 races to get to play against the motorcycle champ. So, there's no need to farm this one out. Also, I used the bike for the goal attack races. I think I ended up with around 100 wins with the Ninja.

Hear me Roar!
Unlock Level 3 ROAR.

See Set to Stun.

Anger Management
Unlock Level 3 AGRO.

See Set to Stun.

Zoning Out
Unlock Level 3 ZONE.

See Set to Stun.

Go on Green
Win 15 Red Light Races.

Unlike other races, you can not instantly replay the race after you finish. However, you can race back. So, just hunt out these races and race back when you're finished.

Uncle Time
Finish the first mission for each of the 4 time trials.

Time trials will gradually become available as you progress through the game. There are a maximum of 4 at any given time, one for each area of LA. Each time trial opens with a single car that you can do run on. (After you fully complete the trial for the first car, other cars become available to attempt the trial on.) For each car, there are three levels of difficulty. Just beat the first tier in a time trial in each area.

Father Time
Completely unlock a time trial by completing all 3 missions.

As mentioned in Uncle Time each time trial has three levels of difficulty. The difficulty heavily depends on how well you do. The best way to make this easier for yourself is to just barely beat the given time. Since you will continually have to do better than your previous score!

Getting Off the Bench
Enter an online cruise and join a proposed race.

Go online. Join a "quick cruise" race. Either propose a race or wait for someone else to. When a race is proposed, join it.

Who Made This?
Enter a Race Editor Race online.

You can join your own or someone else's race editor race.

Turn in the Work
Submit a vehicle to Rate My Ride.

This can be done at the start of the game. Just go to the rate my ride menu in the pause screen and submit a vehicle.

It has been brought to my attention that the Rate My Ride feature has caused some peoples system to freeze. While I have not experienced this, here is a link to a thread with more info: "Rate My Rides" Freeze? - PS3Trophies.org

Everyone's a Critic
Rate 25 rides online.

In the rate my ride menu, you will have the option to rate rides. Rate them (it doesn't matter the rating you give) and proceed to the next vehicle. Do this 25 times.

It has been brought to my attention that the Rate My Ride feature has caused some peoples system to freeze. While I have not experienced this, here is a link to a thread with more info: "Rate My Rides" Freeze? - PS3Trophies.org

Crossing the Line
Finish 50 races online.

Well, this one's pretty easy. You just have to play the races. You do NOT have to win. You should make this the last online trophy you go for, since the finishes for the other online races you get for the other online trophies count towards this total.

Mild Dedication
In Goal Attack, complete every goal for one race.

See True Dedication.

Jordan Jumpman
Spend more than 10 minutes in the air. Brought to you by JORDAN BRAND.

Every time you're in the air, the amount of time goes towards your total. While I'm not 100%, I believe this includes when you go flying off your bike, because my trophy unlocked when I was sailing from a horrible crash.

Set To Stun
Unlock Level 3 EMP.

This is one of the four special abilities available to you in the game. You can equip it by customizing your vehicle. You increase its level by using it. So, just use this ability every chance you get. It doesn't matter if you use while in a race or just cruising.

T-Mobile myFaves
Join an online game with 5 of your friends. Stay Connected with MyFaves from T-Mobile.

This is giant pain in the ass and could possibly be the hardest trophy to get in the entire game. I tried organizing this with the boosting thread, but that was a failure. So, I ended up hosting a match and asking anybody who joined to help me with this trophy. You will need 5 friends in your list. This means 5 other people apart from you. I'm not sure if there still is a glitch, but it used to be the case that the 5 friends had to in the first 50 people on your friend list, since the game only recognizes these people in the in game friend list. So, be warned, you may have to clip some of your PSN buddies.

Unicycle
Drive a cumulative total of 50 miles while doing a wheelie on a motorcycle.

You just need to drive around 50 miles cumulative (not in succession) while doing a wheelie. You can check your progress by looking in the game stats menu. To perform a wheelie, accelerate, press your weight shift button and pull (and hold) slightly back on the left analogue stick. It will take a little practice to get this right.

Just Get A Motorcycle
In a car, drive a cumulative total of 50 miles on 2 wheels.

You just need to drive around 50 miles cumulative (not in succession) while on two (side) wheels. You can check your progress by looking in the game stats menu. To perform a two-wheel "tilt", accelerate, press your weight shift button and press either left or right on the left analogue stick. You do NOT need to hold the left analogue stick for two-wheel driving.) It will take a little practice to get this right.

Destroyer of Worlds
Successfully destroy 15 opponent vehicles using the Payback vehicle at the Beaches garage.

The Beaches garage has "Payback" side missions. Some missions consist of destroying more than one car. Each car counts. There is no penalty for setting the difficulty to easy.

Here for a Pickup
Successfully deliver 15 vehicles out of the Hollywood garage.

The Hollywood garage has "Delivery" side missions. Successfully complete 15 of these for the trophy.

Competitive Glory
Win each of the 4 tournaments at least one time.

There is a tournament for each section of LA. Just win each one once. If you're having trouble, you can always come back when you have a better car (or bike!).

In the Lap of…
Beat the Luxury Champ.

See How Exotic.

Name that Tuner
Beat the Tuner Champ.

See How Exotic.

World's Strongest
Beat the Muscle Champ.

See How Exotic.

Two Wheels of Fury
Beat the Motorcycle Champ.

See How Exotic.

How Exotic
Beat the Exotic Champ.

There are 5 types of vehicles: tuner, muscle, luxury, exotic and motorcycle. Win enough races for each type and the champ for that category will challenge you. The number of races need to win vary from category to category. Just keep winning and eventually they will contact you. Of course, you should wait a few seconds (maybe a minute or two, at most) after each race to see if they are trying to contact you.

Have Car, Will Travel
Drive a total of 5,000 miles, including any miles driven online or offline.

Well, even after doing every single other (disc-based) trophy in this game (except the platinum), I was still 250 miles short of 5000 miles. So, do NOT work on this until you've done everything else. Presumably, when you get to grinding this out, you will have a fully upgraded Ninja. There are two ways to go about the next step, depending if you have auditory preferences or not. If you want to listen to your own music (saved to your PS3 hard drive), then start an arcade race with the following settings: Race = "Welcome to Hollywood", Opponents = 1, Traffic = NONE, Powerups = NO, Weather = Clear, Time = NOON. Now, when the race starts, ignore it and hop on the 405 Freeway and start driving while listening to your tunes. You will be doing this for a while. If you don't care about music and just want to grind, set up a private online cruise with no traffic and clear weather. Then start doing loops around 405.

Rags To Riches
Have $1 million dollars in the bank while playing in Los Angeles.

By the end of the game, money is not an issue. If you're really hard pressed for cash, take a decent vehicle and keep playing very hard dynamic freeway races. You'll get $9,100 each time and they only take about 45-60 seconds to win. Also, you may want to keep the following in mind: The last mission is to get $1 million and invest in Karol's garages. Once you "beat the game" and invest in the garage, all vehicles and upgrades are free (provided you've unlocked them). So, if you can beat the game (while still getting you're trophies), it would be most efficient to refrain from buying cars and upgrades, as much as possible.

The Winner
Win 180 offline races.

This will almost definitely come in the course of getting the platinum. You will have to get over 70 offline wins for the "True Dedication" trophy alone. Again, if you're in need of wins, just do dynamic freeway races.

Waldo's Still Missing
Find all the collectables in Los Angeles.

Here is a link to a map provided from one of the members from our sister site: Collectable Map (COMPLETE!) - Xbox360Achievements.org

It's How You Play The Game
Finish 300 offline races. Winning is not required.

Again, this will almost definitely come in the natural course of playing the game and trying to get all the other trophies. And as usual, dynamic freeway races are a good back-up.

Retire the Master
Beat the City Champ.

This is part of the story. Keep progressing through it to get the invite.

Master Thief
Steal 80 flags while playing Capture the Flag or other battle matches.

You steal the flag when every you touch some else who has it. The easiest way to get this is to boost with a partner: Set up a private capture the flag match. One of you gets the flag and parks. The other finds the person with the flag and parks right next to it so that the two cars are touching. The flag will bounce back and forth. Just wait for the trophy to unlock.

Postman
Deliver 100 flags in Capture the Flag or other battle matches.

This is a pain because you actually have to deliver the flag. Again, this is made easy (but still tedious) by boosting. Just pick a small map for this one.

Ranking Up
Win 20 Tiered Matches online.

Well, you can join random games and play for victory. If you do this, be prepared to get schooled. The people that play this game online that are not boosting will own you. If you do decide to boost, here's a method that works reasonably well: Either you or your boosting buddy sets up a match using some "obscure" settings. Things like rainy weather, D-class vehicles, driving at dawn are all good examples. The other player does a search with exactly these criteria and you should be good to go. To ensure that it's just you two, the person setting up should set the match for only 2 players. If a random person happens to join, just start the process over, using other obscure settings.

Warning: If either you or your boosting buddy has the free South Central downloadable map, the other person will have to download it as well, in order to boost with the other. However, both people do not have to get the premium expansion.

True Dedication
All Goal attacks must be unlocked and every goal for every race completed.

This is the most difficult trophy in terms of skill to get. These races are found in your pause menu and are (appropriately) called Goal Attack races. Each race has the three following goals:

1. Finish under the specified time.
2. Come in 1st place.
3. Finish with less than 25% damage.

You get a gold star for a race if you have do all three goals during a single attempt. This trophies requires you to get gold stars on every race! I recommend using a fully upgraded Ninja for these races. It takes a little getting used to. The speed and handling are a great trade-off for the (very) low damage tolerance. You unlock races by playing them in the game. Ordered and Circuit races can be unlocked in the regular races. Landmark races can be unlocked from time trials, red-light races and delivery races. I'm pretty sure Unordered races are immediately unlocked. Here is a list of all the races:

DLC: South Central Premium Upgrade
Cost: $9.99 Trophies: 10

Goin' South
Meet the South Central Mechanic

After installing the South Central DLC, enter a race. It doesn't matter if you win. Afterwards, Karol will call you to give you the location of the garage in South Central. Drive over there and enter the garage for the trophy.

If for some reason Karol never calls you, go to this thread for a method to get past this glitch: I have solved the MC:LA SC DLC Problem! - PS3Trophies.org

South Central Test Drive
Take 1 South Central vehicle out for a test drive

Once you get to the garage, purchase one of the new cars, and select Test Drive from the menu. Some examples of the new cars are the Pontiac GTO, Chevrolet Chevelle, Mercedes-Benz CLK63, all of the Lowriders, and all of the SUV's.

Big Ballin'
Win 10 races in an SUV

You have a choice between the two Range Rovers here. Once you upgrade, they're both about the same. Once you purchase either one of the cars, then do any 10 of the races. You can use them to knock out the South Central goal attacks or use them to get through the South Central career. It's easiest to do the "Welcome to Hollywood" race 10 times though.

Low Ballin'
Win 10 races in a Low Rider

You have a choice between the Bel Air, Impala, Malibu, or Buick Riveira for this. I chose the Impala, but they're all about the same. Once you purchase one of the cars, then do any 10 of the races. You can use them to knock out the South Central goal attacks or use them to get through the South Central career. It's easiest to do the "Welcome to Hollywood" race 10 times though.

Sign Here
Complete 10 deliveries in South Central

As you progress through the South Central career, you'll get a call from Doc that he wants you to make some deliveries. It's just like the "Here for a Pickup" delivery missions. If you've completed those, you'll have no trouble with these.

Easier than the Hills
Complete the South Central tournament

As you're playing through the South Central career, you'll get a call that the South Central tournament has opened up. Beat the tournament, and you'll get this trophy. It's just like the tournaments you raced in during the main story. This tournament is pretty easy, and you should have little trouble with it.

Money for nothing
Complete the South Central Wager Mission

After a few races in the South Central Career, you'll get a call about the wager race. Win enough races to get up to $5000 for this trophy. This wager mission is just like the ones in the main story. These races aren't too difficult, and you should have no trouble with it.

Brother Time
Complete the 3 missions for the South Central time trial

Just like the time trials in the main game, you'll have to do this time trial three times. You'll get a call once you're working your way through your South Central career. Complete the time trials as soon as they come up, so the next one will come up sooner.

Been there, Done That
Finish the South Central career

You'll have to win around 15 races to complete the South Central career. These races include, the wager mission, the tournament, and the time trials. You'll know that you're approaching the end of the South Central career when you meet the champ, Raymond.

GOOOOAAAAAALLLLL!!!!!
Finish all South Central Goal Attacks

These are just like the goal attacks in the main game, except there are only 27 of them. Here is the list of the new goal attacks:

Ordered Races:
-Baldwin Crenshaw Run
-Campus Orientation
-Crenshaw and Back
-Crenshaw and Hollywood
-Out of the River
-Pacific BLVD. Start
-SC Touring Time
-Slauson Bounce
-South Central Exit
-South Central Tour
-Southeast Run
-Under the 10
-West Adams Match

Circuit Races
:
-10 and 405 is 110
-Figueroa and Vermont
-Huntington Drifts
-Round Baldwin
-South Central Speedway
-Track Circuit
-West Adams Loop

Landmark Races:
