    How to unlock Virtually Impossible

From the Main Menu select Missions; now choose your character, what type of mission you want to do and the specific mission you want to complete. Successfully complete all of the missions to earn this trophy. There are 7 characters to choose from; Raiden, Raiden Ninja, Raiden X, Snake, Pliskin, Snake (Tuxedo) and Snake (MGS1). Each character has their own missions, some more difficult than others; Snake (MGS1) has by far the most difficult missions. This trophy will probably take a few sessions to complete, be sure to save your data before quitting the game or turning your console off. There is no auto-save function and if you don't save you'll lose any progress you've made.

  • Awesome, I can't wait to play as Tuxedo Snake and Naked Raiden again, and yet again I will kick Gurlugons Giant ass >:D
  • Yes you must beat every vr mission not just one person to pop this trophy
  • do you need to come at least third or just pass?
  • nvm i did some research and no you just have to pass. still one hell of a trophy
  • Yeah just pass the stages but need place 50 first records for the trophy "In it to Win it" not so hard, i recommend do it in the first sneaking missions of raiden and snake. I just need this trophy 4 the platinum
  • urgh, iv spent more time on this trophy than EVERY OTHER TROPHY IN THIS GAME put together...
  • Im not PRO on MG games i take +35hrs to finish the VRMissions Hell
  • #7 same i was at like 30+ hours by the time i finished this god damn trophy now on to the tags
  • So far I've done 65% in a little over 12 hours. I assume as Naked Raiden has only one mission, that Tuxedo & MGS1 Snake have a fuckload of missions?
  • Does anyone have any tips for MGS1 Snake Hold Up? Done 34% of his missions, 89% overall in 19 hours. I know PS3T trophy guide has a guide for it but it's written & I prefer my YouTube videos ;)
  • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FlcmheDTjiY Full video guide 7 hour long including MGS1 missions. Made from the PS2 version but the tactics are the same and the author shows always the best path except for some few missions where he doesn't achieve 1st score.
  • Raiden__103 Ninja___041 X_______001 (5 Levels under a single timer) Snake___104 Pliskin_087 Tuxedo__087 MGS1____088 TOTAL___511 Missions Time I spent 33 hours.
  • Snake MGS1 Hold ups are extremely annoying because you have to use the M4 to make them and a single shot will cause mission failure unless its after the final guard has been halt. I found a very useful trick that is helping me A LOT during these missions. Get a metal wire (preferably a naked one) and coil it around the Square button with the help of some clamps (use a pen as a reference and then cut it) keep using the clamps until you finally met the shape and size of the button, the more accurate the better and try to get it firmly in place (my wire is a 1mm diameter I think). Now your thumb won't reach the firing zone unless you press harder than usual EXTREMELY USEFUL, believe me. Now you only have to worry about the guards and not the stupid rifle.
  • 511 levels? holy shit man I not done 10% yet. downer.
  • i beat my mine in 25 hours
  • Those bombs gave me a tumor.
  • heres an 8 hour long guide http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FlcmheDTjiY&feature=related
  • I don't think I'll ever accomplish this trophy without an inverted controls option. It's a really shitty oversight in otherwise great package.
  • for everyone who could press square gently, but can't beat the levels in time here is playlist by me :) http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL8CD545D633D5EB37&feature=mh_lolz
  • #18 Agreed, I need inverted controls..
  • So VR sniping brings out a rage in me I never knew I had
  • I have a short and easy tutorial for Raiden's sneaking missions. I will be uploading more tutorials, it just takes so damn long to upload! Here you go: http://youtu.be/6rg0xctG61o
  • i hate this trophy but i got it :D
  • Hard trophy
  • last trophy to plat. beat all of Raiden, Raiden Ninja, Raiden X, Snake, and some of Pliskin and lost interest because there's soooooo many. I couldn't take it anymore. I love Metal Gear, but I'm not a big fan of the VR missions. blah! I'll come back to it someday I hope
  • finally got it.a pain in the ass to get but damn it worth it ,snake tales and i will have the platinum.YEAH
  • Man this was really breathtaking because you are basically getting through the same missions several times. I thought i'd never get it! Greetings!
  • We don't have to get top time to Complete all VR and Alternative missions right?
  • if the trophy doesn't care about the time. then that's a BIG relief.
  • and the trophy doesn't care about top score either,
  • #18 and #20 It's possible to switch to inverted controls (for up and down at least). When you first enter the main menu from the title screen go to "Options" and switch the camera to "Reversed". NB, you will have to do this EVERY SINGLE TIME you turn on the game. The game will not remember your control changes, or any other details (if you turned off the radar, etc.).
  • This trophy is a beast to get! If you really enjoy the MGS series like I do, you will learn to enjoy these missions. I have yet to start the MGS1 Snake missions though so my opinion will probably change during that process haha
  • allmoust impossible trophy
  • This trophy is doable!!! Just be patient! Which is key to all stealth games. I'm almost done! I'm on Level 9 of the Elimination Missions for MGS1 Snake and just have the Hold up ones after those! YOU CAN DO IT!
  • Has anybody else encountered a glitch in MGS1 Snake's variety 1 mission? (the defend the box one). I've gotten to 30/31 killed twice now and the last guy hasn't shown up in the 40-50 seconds remaining. I really hope this isn't a game breaking glitch, because I am about 5 missions from platinum
  • is this trophy doable at all???
  • Do I have to Rank first in ALL VR Missions? o completing each mission is enough? Please let me know, I'll attempt this trophy next weekend and I want to be prepared...
  • #37 It should that you just have to complete them. You only need to rank first in the number of missions that is required for that specific trophy. I'm still going through it. I'm currently on Pliskin with the grenades.
  • i didn't pop this trophy yet -_____-'
  • Haven't earned this one yet, but I can say for sure that this particular trophy is what separates boys from men.
  • I just got this one today after giving up on MGS1 Snake Variety Mission 1 for a long time; the sniping in MGS1/2 is really finiky. Everything else about this game is more of a grind.
  • Variety level 8: snipe out those 69 guys with bulletproof jackets running at the speed of light towards an ant over there. In the dark. With the dart gun. If you miss you start all over again. And also two Gurlugons. Grrrr, sorry, I was thinking that at least we didn't have a b*llshit challenge like that in the game, because with the other varieties it's more than enough b*llshit!
  • Snake (MGS1) missions are a pain in the ass, already spent like 30 hours in this and I still have one thousand dog tags to collect...
  • do you need to be in the top 3 for it to count as completed?
  • You just have to complete them, CpTCrowleyy.
  • Just got this one today. It was brutal and took me 70 hours due to the variety sniper missions that I just couldn't quit until I did them.I now only need 4 full tag collections on plant for my first platinum!!MGS1 Snake was truly something I will never forget going through.
  • Those grenade MGS1 Snake missions. So much easier on the PS2 with a PS1 controller! (Lack of pressure sensitive face buttons)
  • Nearly 70 hours in. 30 of those seem to have been dedicated to the Snake (MGS1) Hold-Up missions. Very difficult.
  • Single handedly the most boring undertaking in my entire gaming history. And that includes the 53,560 infected trophy from Prototype and the sphere grid trophy from final fantasy X HD.
  • I got this on the Vita I don't know if it's harder on the PS3?
  • Virtually Impossible? Fuck but it's close. So many times I wanted to give up... but my sense of pride and/or masochism refused to let me. And now... I have it. You cannot even imagine the endorphine levels. No trophy, or indeed gaming achievement has ever demanded so much of me, and indeed I hope I'll never have to face something like this ever again. Thank fuck for Transfarring so I don't have to do it on Vita as well. This separates the small Bosses from the Big Bosses.
  • Very late post on this, but some uncommon tips for the MGS1 Snake missions (the last unlocked) - enemies can be lured by standing in front of them (so the ! mark comes up) then by hiding nearby, they'll walk to the spot where you where, which makes for an easier holdup. - with the M4 holdups, taping the square button down helps, so that you only need to tap R2 to equip and unequip the weapon for simpler holdups. - when fighting Genola at the end of MGS1 Snake's variety missions, an easier method to shooting down the UFO is to shoot the beams holding the water above Genola's head https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hDEo6tXJw_E
  • I have rusted out to get this trophy, due to MGS1 sniper challenge
  • The hardest mission in my eyes was variety 1 mgs1 snake. But if you’re playing on PS Now like me and like me created a new psn ID for PS4 and looking to get this trophy a second time it is impossible on PS Now to get this trophy because of hold up mgs1 snake. Had to hook-up PS3 just for that, thank god i could use in game cloud saving feature to quickly do the last 7 hold ups on my PS3 to get this trophy a second time. Maybe that’s why I thought it wasn’t so bad, cause I had done it before. The reason it’s impossible is because ps4 controller does not have pressure sensing hardware like PS3 controller. And one shot is instant find in most hold up missions.
