Max Payne 3 is a third person shooter developed by Rockstar and released on the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2012. It is the third game in the series with this instalment taking place 9 years after Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne. The story takes place in São Paulo, Brazil, where Max Payne is employed to protect Rodrigo Branco from violent street gangs.

In regards to the trophy list, Max Payne 3 is one of the most difficult Platinums to obtain on the Playstation 3. You will need to play through the game at least 5 times, one for each of the various difficulties. The only stackable difficulty related trophies are those related to Hard and Medium. Each subsequent difficulty will only be unlocked when the previous difficulty is completed. For example, Hardcore difficulty is only unlocked when the game has been completed on Hard. Your playthrough on New York Minute Hardcore will determine if you obtain the Platinum or not. You will need to complete the game in a single session without dying and with a time limit.

The game also has 4 DLCs, most of which relate to online multiplayer but there are also a few trophies related to a new arcade mode difficulty, (Challenge Mode) as well as a co-op mode (Dead Man's Chest).

Step 1 - Complete the story on Hard difficulty (Free Aim) whilst obtaining all collectibles

Start your first playthrough on Hard difficulty and make sure to have targeting set to Free Aim. You'll be using this first playthrough to obtain all the collectibles while learning the mechanics of the game. Given you won’t yet be familiar with enemy spawns or the game mechanics, you will likely struggle a bit throughout this playthrough but as long as you learn to utilise your Bullet Time with , you should get through. Always go for headshots when fighting enemies and try and use every new weapon you come across. You may work towards the chapter specific trophies as you play but it isn't necessary to earn them during this Step as you will have 4 more playthroughs (5 if you have the Deathmatch Made in Heaven Pack), plus there's always Chapter Select.

Upon completing Step 1 you should earn:

Story:

Feel The Payne
Serious Payne
Part I Complete
Part II Complete
Part III Complete

Chapter Specific:

Out The Window (Chapter 2, Checkpoint 2)
The One Eyed Man Is King (Chapter 3, Checkpoint 13)
That Old Familiar Feeling (Chapter 4, Checkpoint 8)
Something Wicked This Way Comes (Chapter 5, Checkpoint 6)
Amidst The Wreckage (Chapter 6, Checkpoint 3)
So Much For Being Subtle (Chapter 7, Checkpoint 9)
The Only Choice Given (Chapter 10, Checkpoint 5)
Trouble Has Come To Me (Chapter 10, Checkpoint 11)
Along For The Ride (Chapter 11, Checkpoint 11)
Sometimes You Get Lucky (Chapter 12, Checkpoint 11)
It Was Chaos And Luck (Chapter 13, Checkpoint 14)
You Push A Man Too Far (Chapter 14, Checkpoint 11)
The Road-Kill Behind Me (Chapter 14, Checkpoint 12)

Collectibles:

An Echo Of The Past
Sure Know How To Pick A Place
A License To Kill

Steps 2-8 are all concurrent and can be completed in any order you so desire. We recommend doing at least two more playthroughs before attempting NYMHC.

Step 2 - Complete the story on Old School (Free Aim) difficulty

Once you complete Hard difficulty you will then unlock Old School difficulty. This is essentially the same as Hard except now you will no longer have Last Man Standing, which means you will have to use your painkillers manually. This won't impose on you that much, plus getting in the habit of manually using your painkillers is good practice for NYMHC. Try and learn the spawns of enemies more during this playthrough, as well as the spawns of painkillers.

Upon completing Step 2 you should earn:

Story:

Maximum Payne

Step 3 - Complete the game on Hardcore (Free Aim) difficulty

Hardcore will also be unlocked after completing Hard difficulty. This is essentially a step up from Hard, where you'll take even more damage and your Bullet Time gauge will empty very fast. Because of this, Shootdodge () will be your best friend during this playthrough but try not to carry the habit of Shootdodging into subsequent playthroughs as it's not recommended outside of Hardcore.

Upon completing Step 3 you should earn:

Story:

Payne In The Ass

Step 3a - Complete the game on Challenge Mode difficulty (Deathmatch Made in Heaven Pack only)

This Step only applies to those with the Deathmatch Made in Heaven Pack. Challenge Mode is a new arcade mode akin to Score Attack. If you have the DLC then it may be wise to do this playthrough prior to NYMHC, because it can help you to further understand certain mechanics and teach you how to handle certain encounters throughout the game.

For a Challenge Mode walkthrough, please see XniresistX's Challenge Mode Guide: LINK

Upon completing Step 3a you should earn:

Deathmatch Made in Heaven Pack:

It Looked Easy Enough
Breaking the 4th

Step 4 - Complete the game on A New York Minute (NYM) difficulty

This will be the precursor to NYMHC. NYM requires you to complete each chapter individually with a time limit imposed on you. You'll start each chapter with 1 minute and will gain time by killing enemies and doing particular feats (such as headshots, melee or explosion kills). If you die in a Chapter, you will have to restart it. You will have to work fast in several Chapters, as the time imposed on you can be very strict but this will all be practice for NYMHC. Try and further learn and memorise enemy spawns and painkiller spawns if you can.

Upon completing Step 4 you should earn:

Story:

A New York Minute

Step 5 - Complete the game on A New York Minute Hardcore (NYMHC) difficulty

This is it, the trophy that will likely determine whether you will obtain the Platinum or not. In order to unlock NYMHC, you must first finish NYM. NYMHC is the same as NYM, except this time it’s the entire playthrough in one sitting, without dying. The time constraints shouldn't be of concern, because by now you should be so well versed in the game that you can play through the early Chapters very quickly and build up enough time to be able to take your time in later Chapters. Please see The Shadows Rushed Me for tips.

Upon completing Step 5 you should earn:

Story:

The Shadows Rushed Me

Step 6 - Clean up any outstanding collectibles, chapter specific trophies and single player grinds

Now it's time to clean up the remaining single player trophies. These shouldn’t take you too long to earn, especially if you've actively been trying to complete the single player grinds during your many playthroughs.

Upon completing Step 6, you should earn:

Miscellaneous:

The Fear Of Losing It
A Few Hundred Bullets Back
Past The Point Of No Return
All Of The Above

Combat:

It’s Fear That Give Men Wings
You Might Hurt Someone With That
One Bullet At A Time
You Play, You Pay, You Bastard
With Practiced Bravado
Colder Than The Devil's Heart

Step 7 - Online multiplayer (base game and DLC) - Unobtainable

Now for the online. Most of the base game trophies should come easily through regular play but if you have the Local Justice Pack you will want to set the SPP (Sau Paulo Police) as your Deathmatch character to make it easier to get Keep Your Nose Clean, as well as making sure to always use the M4 for M4 Murder. For the rest of the DLC trophies (and maybe Deathmatch Challenge), you will likely need to boost them. Most can be done with 2-3 players but a few will need 4 players, while one will require 5. Long Arm of the Lawless is glitched and the game type on the required map might not start with small numbers so that may also require 5+ people in order to achieve.

In order to boost any of the base game trophies or the DLC trophies, please use the Trophy Boosting Thread.

For details on earning each DLC trophy, please see the respective guides (credit to the respective authors):
Upon completing Step 7 you should earn:

Multiplayer:

Full Monty
Payne Bringer
Max Payne Invitational
Deathmatch Challenge
Grave Robber
The Gambler
Sweep
Dearest Of All My Friends

Local Justice Pack:

Air Ace
Express Checkout
Long Arm of the Law
M4 Murder
Keep Your Nose Clean

Hostage Negotiation Pack:

Old School Moves
Early Adopted
WMD
60 Seconds of Intimidation

Painful Memories Pack:

Long Arm of the Lawless
Bar Brawler
Ouch My Head
Welcome Ashore
Drinker's Revenge

Deathmatch Made in Heaven Pack:

3 Blind Mice
Sweaty Betty
Betty Confetti
Resisting Arrest
Breaking and Entering

Step 8 - Grinding to Rank 50 - Unobtainable

Last but certainly not least we have the level grind, this can be done either in online multiplayer or arcade mode singleplayer. The latter is more efficient but more tedious so we recommend you use both methods. Please see Training Complete for details.

Upon completing Step 8 you should earn:

Multiplayer:

Man Of Many Weapons
Man Of Many Faces
Training Complete

Which will ultimately unlock:

Platinum Trophy

Local Justice Pack DLC:

The servers have now closed, therefore the 100% is unobtainable if you didn't get the online trophies done before that happened.

Overview:
- Estimated Trophy Difficulty: 4/10
- Offline: 0
- Online: 5 (1 (G), 4 (B)) - Unobtainable
- Approximate time to 100%: 2-3 hours, depending on skill
- Glitched Trophies: none reported
- Does difficulty affect Trophies?: no
- Do cheat codes disable Trophies?: no cheats available in multiplayer.

Introduction:

Welcome to the Local Justice Map Pack! This DLC features the following:

- 3 new multiplayer maps: 55th Battalion HQ, Imperial Palace, and the Departure Lounge.
- 1 new weapon: M4 Assault Rifle
- 1 new faction: Sao Paulo Police (SPP)
- 1 new item: Light Fingers (faster body looting)

Walkthrough:

You can earn these trophies in any order. I would recommend that two of them (Air Ace and Express Checkout) be boosted, as you need to have a high level of skill, good use of bursts, and a bit of luck to get them legit. Check the boosting thread here to find partners: Trophy Boosting Thread (Read First Post!) - PlaystationTrophies.org

To make these trophies go as quickly as possible, you will want to play in the Downloadable Content Maps playlist when you log in to the multiplayer. DLC maps WILL come up in the rotation while playing the normal playlists, but depending on who votes for them you may or may not play on them. The 55th Battalion HQ map is available for any game mode. The Imperial Palace and Departure Lounge maps are not available for use in Gang wars - only Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, and Payne Killer.

A quick note about boosting. When the group I played with was trying to get set up, it appeared that the host player's system would freeze whenever the 8th player would attempt to join the party. We got around this by creating a party of 7, sending the 8th player an invite during the countdown, and having him accept once the game started. Using text chat or Skype really helps.

Hostage Negotiation Pack DLC:

The servers have now closed, therefore the 100% is unobtainable if you didn't get the online trophies done before that happened.

Overview:
- Estimated Trophy Difficulty: 1/10
- Offline: 0
- Online: 4 (1 (B), 3 (S)) - Unobtainable
- Approximate time to 100%: 1-2 hours, depending on skill
- Glitched Trophies: None reported
- Does difficulty affect Trophies?: No
- Do cheat codes disable Trophies?: No cheats available in multiplayer.

Introduction:

Welcome to the Hostage Negotiation Map Pack! This DLC features the following:

- 4 new multiplayer maps: Favela Heights, Estàdio do Galatians, Club Moderno, O Palàcio Strip Club
- 2 new weapons: IA2 Assault Rifle, M24 Sniper Rifle
- 1 new faction: Filhos De Ogum
- 3 new loadout items: Heavy Helmet, Bomb Suit, Intimidation Mask
- 1 new burst: Explosives

Walkthrough:

You can earn these trophies in any order, and potentially in a single game if you are boosting. To make these trophies go as quickly as possible, you will want to play in the Downloadable Content Maps playlist when you log in to the multiplayer. DLC maps WILL come up in the rotation while playing the normal playlists, but depending on who votes for them you may or may not play on them. The only map you need to look out for is the Club Moderno map.

If you don't feel like paying legit, these trophies are best boosted in a deathmatch mode, and you'll need at least 4 people to do it.

Painful Memories Pack DLC:

The servers have now closed, therefore the 100% is unobtainable if you didn't get the online trophies done before that happened.

Roadmap

Overview:

  • Estimated Trophy Difficulty: 3/10 (personal opinion)
  • Trophy Breakdown: 5 (S)
  • Offline: 0
  • Online: 5 (5 (S)) - Unobtainable
  • Approximate Time to 100%: 2+ hours (actually doing the trophies and finding the maps/game modes for them)
  • Glitched Trophies: 1, Long Arm of the Lawless
  • Missable Trophies: None

Introduction

The Painful Memories Pack is the 3rd and penultimate DLC expansion for Max Payne 3. The Painful Memories Pack has 4 new maps (Canal De Panama, Marty's Bar, Roscoe Street Subway and Shoot First), 2 new avatar factions (De Marcos Abroad and the United Souls Of The People), 2 new weapons (the UAR-21 Assault Rifle and the IMG 5.56 Assault Rifle), A new burst and 3 new equipment items (Hangover burst, the calculator item, betting slip item and hip flask item) and lastly but most importantly, 5 new silver trophies. All of the trophies are online only and there are no glitched trophies.

Walkthrough

Step 1: Get the non-specific game mode trophies and make sure to choose the Marty's Bar map if you get the chance.

With Long Arm of the Lawless and Welcome Ashore you need to be playing Payne Killer and Gang Wars respectively, instead of worrying about those, choose the Downloadable Content maps option when starting multiplayer and work on getting Bar Brawler, Ouch My Head and Drinker's Revenge. Due to a blunder on Rockstar's part, the map required for the Long Arm of the Lawless trophy won't load unless there are 5 players in the lobby when the match starts.

Step 2: Play Payne Killer on Canal De Panama for Long Arm of the Lawless and play Gang Wars on Canal De Panama for Welcome Ashore.

It is possible, however unlikely, that you may have gotten Long Arm of the Lawless and Welcome Ashore while trying to complete step 1. If you haven't, now is the time to switch from playing Downloadable Content maps to playing specifically Payne Killer and Gang Wars on the Canal De Panama map.

NOTE:

It is important to note that although another DLC is planned to be released, the multiplayer component of Max Payne 3 is not anywhere near active as it used to be. It is very possible that you may not be able to do these trophies legitimately, this is not because of skill but for the simple fact that no one may be playing the map/game mode you want. It is recommended that you boost these trophies, boosting thread here, however, I will be listing how to do these trophies legit in case you are lucky enough to get into the map/game mode you need. If you do boost this, it's easiest to do this with 8 people for 2 reasons:
  1. Having 8 people will prevent randoms from joining in every game mode except Gang Wars (you do not need to play on the large modes).
  2. Having 8 people will make it easier to boost this quickly and effectively in Gang Wars, where 8 people are only half of the potential players in a round (meaning that 8 other randoms could join).

Deathmatch Made in Heaven DLC

The servers have now closed, therefore the 100% is unobtainable if you didn't get the online trophies done before that happened.

Roadmap

Overview:

  • Estimated Trophy Difficulty: 6/10 (personal opinion)
  • Trophy Breakdown: 5 (B) 2 (S)
  • Offline: 0 (Challenge Mode has to be played while connected to the PSN)
  • Online: 7 (5 (B) 2(S))Mostly Unobtainable
  • Approximate Time to 100%: 6-10 hours (The MP trophies will take at most an hour if boosted but Challenge Mode requires you to play through the campaign again)
  • Glitched Trophies: None
  • Missable Trophies: None

Introduction

The Deathmatch Made in Heaven Pack is the final DLC expansion for Max Payne 3. This DLC pack includes 4 new weapons, 1 new projectile, 3 new deathmatch inspired game modes, a horde-mode type co-op experience and surprisingly a new addition to the single player arcade mode.

Walkthrough

Step 1: Through boosting or playing legitimately, play the multiplayer until you've earned the 4 multiplayer trophies

Due to the fact that the online trophies for this DLC expansion are weapon specific and not game type or character faction like previous expansions, the online trophies can be earned in any game mode or map you want. Because the pepper spray and stun gun/cattle prod are both one handed weapons, you can duel wield them and potentially earn 3 Blind Mice and Resisting Arrest within the same game. Since the Bouncing Betty is a projectile/grenade weapon, you can also have that in your loadout whilst trying for the previously mentioned trophies. You can also earn Sweaty Betty and Betty Confetti in the same round or even in the same round as 3 Blind Mice and Resisting Arrest. If you're having problems with the multiplayer trophies or just want to boost them, then please use the boosting thread.

Step 2: Play the co-op until you've earned the one and only co-op related trophy, Breaking and Entering.

The co-op mode in this expansion is known as Dead Men Walking. Dead Men Walking is unfortunately online only. If you need someone to be your partner you can use the boosting thread. There are 2 maps for this mode, one in Hoboken and one in Sao Paulo but it doesn't matter which you choose when trying to get this trophy. Patience and teamwork are the key for getting this trophy done. Having a mic or a PSN text chatroom set up so you know who will open what, makes this trophy all the less frustrating.

Step 3: Play the single player arcade Challenge Mode until you've completed all 17 chapters for It Looked Easy Enough, while earning Breaking the 4th along the way. - Still Unobtainable

Whether you love that there are new single player trophies or hate the fact that you have to play through another round of Max Payne 3's campaign, to complete this step you're going to have to play Challenge Mode. Challenge Mode is a new arcade mode for Max Payne 3 that can best be described as a combination of New York Minute and Score Attack. Like New York Minute the beginning and ending cutscene of every chapter has been removed, this makes it feels like there is more emphasis on gameplay then there is on the narrative. Note: To play the Challenge Mode you need to have beaten chapter 1 of the main campaign, you also need to be connected to the PSN to play this DLC.

68 trophies ( 15  48  2  )

  • Unlock All Max Payne 3 Trophies

    UNOBTAINABLE DUE TO SERVER CLOSURE

You will unlock this trophy once all other trophies in the base game have been unlocked. Congratulations on your well deserved Platinum!
  • Story Complete [MEDIUM]

Medium difficulty is available from the beginning. You must play with your targeting set to FREE AIM for this trophy.

Please see Serious Payne for more details.
  • Story Complete [HARD]

Hard difficulty is available from the beginning. You must play with your targeting set to FREE AIM for this trophy.

You will take more damage and your Bullet Time gauge won't fill as fast as previous difficulties. On top of that the gauge will empty faster while in Bullet Time mode. The best advice for completing Hard difficulty is to maximise on headshots and utilise Bullet Time every chance you get. Being your first playthrough, this will likely be one of your hardest playthroughs due to the fact you'll be learning all the mechanics as well as enemy positions.
  • Story Complete [OLD SCHOOL]

Old School difficulty will only be unlocked once the game has been completed on Hard difficulty. You must play with your targeting set to FREE AIM for this trophy.

This difficulty is essentially the same as Hard, except Last Man Standing has been removed. What this means is when your health is depleted, you won't automatically use a Painkiller and give you time to kill the enemy who killed you to get back up. This shouldn't impose on you that much, simply use your Painkillers whenever your health meter fills up halfway.
  • Story Complete [HARDCORE]

Hardcore difficulty will only be unlocked once the game has been completed on Hard difficulty. You must play with your targeting set to FREE AIM for this trophy.

On Hardcore you'll take even more damage than on Hard, to the point where just a few hits are enough to kill you. Bullet Time mode will also drain your gauge very quickly so for this reason we highly recommend using Shootdodge whenever possible. Shootdodge has the advantage of being able to use it regardless of how much bullet time gauge you have, and will last as long as you are airborne. By the time you play on Hardcore, you should be versed enough in the game's mechanics and enemy spawns to be able to pull off headshots while in Bulletdodge fairly successfully and be able to clear out areas with relative ease.

Of course, this doesn’t mean you should completely neglect Bullet Time. When you have enough gauge to use it, by all means use it. If you want to preserve it however, it is best that you spend as little time in it as possible: Enter Bullet Time, quickly headshot one enemy then stop it. Moving your reticle to get another headshot while still in Bullet Time will likely drain it all.
  • Complete Part I Of The Story

    Story related, cannot be missed.

This trophy will unlock once you have completed Chapter 5: 'Alive If Not Exactly Well'.
  • Complete Part II Of The Story

    Story related, cannot be missed.

This trophy will unlock at the end of Chapter 10: 'It's Drive or Shoot Sister'.
  • Complete Part III Of The Story

    Story related, cannot be missed.

This trophy will unlock at the end of Chapter 14: 'One Card Left to Play'.
  • Finish In A New York Minute

"A New York Minute" difficulty will only be unlocked once the game has been completed on Hard difficulty (see Serious Payne).

This mode will allow you to play each Chapter individually with the goal of completing the Chapter before time runs out, on Medium difficulty. You will start every Chapter with one minute, gaining time for killing enemies, headshotting enemies, meleeing enemies and so on. There are also no checkpoints through NYM so if you die, you will have to start the chapter again. By the time you do NYM, you should have a strong enough grasp on the gameplay and enemy/painkiller spawns to be able to get through most chapters without too much. That being said, time is very strict on a few Chapters (particularly Chapters 13 and 14) to the point that you'll likely have to rush through the earlier sections.

In order to maximise on your time but always go for headshots as they give 6 seconds as opposed to 5 seconds for a standard kill. Meleeing where possible is also recommended as it gives 10 seconds but it can be risky due to how quickly you can be gunned down. Explosion kills (such as in Chapter IV: Part I) will also grant lots of free time. Don't hang around for too long.

NYM can be done with Soft Lock targeting but it is not recommended because it always targets centre mass, thus making it harder to get headshots.
  • Unlock And Complete New York Minute Hardcore

    GLITCHED

New York Minute Hardcore will only be unlocked once the game has been completed on New York Minute (see A New York Minute).

NYMHC is the pinnacle of the many playthroughs you'll be doing, this is essentially NYM in one sitting: You must complete the entire game under time restrictions without dying. The time restrictions aren't of much concern, as by the time you’re halfway through the game you'll have so much spare time that you should be able to take your time in later chapters and still get through without being pressured by time. Not dying is what you should be concerned about. Being able to survive a full playthrough without a single death will require a strong understanding of the game’s mechanics, as well as knowledge of most (if not all) enemy spawns and painkiller spawns. We recommend that you complete the game at least 3 times prior to doing NYMHC, in order to memorise everything.

Given that NYMHC has to load the entire game in one session it is rather prone to freezing, especially in Chapter 13. There are several ways to help avoid this. Turning off the Golden Guns will help and while it means your guns will be slightly weaker and have smaller clips, it's a worthwhile payoff if it means not having to start NYMHC again because it freezes. If the game ever starts to slow down or stutter due to framerate issues, then pause your game and let the game finish loading. This tends to happen if you move too fast for the game and reach a new area before the game has had time to fully render the new environment. Freezing/glitching issues may also be more prone on the digital version so if you are having issues with it, it may be wise to try doing it on the physical version.

Below are some general tips for completing NYMHC:
    • Bullet Time: Use it liberally. If you’re making sure to go for headshots, you should always have plenty of Bullet Time to deal with almost every encounter.
    • Headshots: Goes hand in hand with Bullet Time. Headshots will take out enemies quickly and will fill your Bullet Time gauge rapidly.
    • Never Shootdodge: Unlike Bullet Time, Shootdodge can easily get you killed. As you come out of Shootdodge you will be vulnerable while on the ground. If you do ever feel the need to use it, do so only when one or two enemies are left so you can ensure that no one will be alive when you come out of it.
    • Weapon of Choice: Whenever possible you should equip yourself with with any pistol and M10/Micro 9mm as your single-handed weapons and an assault rifle as your two-handed weapon. Pistols are your best friend when it comes to headshots as they are accurate, fast and can hold a lot of ammo. Never dual-wield as it's a waste of ammo. Stay away from shotguns too as they’re generally not good at range and can easily get you killed.
    • Painkillers: Always use Painkillers whenever your health bar fills up halfway. You do not want to enter Last Man Standing as sometimes you'll be unable to shoot the enemy who shot you, resulting in your death. Learn where Painkillers spawn as they can mean the difference between life and death. Infernal has a Painkiller Location Guide which will help if you can't find some.
    • Enemies: By now you should know where essentially every enemy in the game spawns. This knowledge is priceless and should help you get through almost every encounter with ease.
    • Turn off laser sights: Ever picked up a gun only to find it near useless due to having a horrible laser sight? You can actually turn this off with , thus making a near useless weapon a potential lifesaver.
    • Remember the insta-death spots: There are several points throughout the game where you'll need to pull off a QTE or quickly kill an enemy in Bullet Time else you will be instantly killed. Always be aware of these, as it can be easy to screw them up if you're not aware they're coming up, especially QTEs when you try to skip the cutscene and end up pressing the wrong button.
    • Be calm: More important than anything, you need to keep a calm nerve. If you start to get anxious or lose your nerve, pause the game and take a break. There's nothing worse than dying because you lost your nerve and did something stupid.
    • Practice in NYM: If there are any encounters in any chapter that you're particularly worried about, replay it in NYM until you know how to deal with the encounter.
  • Get 6 Kills While Diving Through The VIP Window [FREE AIM]

This trophy can only be obtained in Chapter 2: Checkpoint 2. From the main menu, select 'Story' > 'Chapter Select' > 'Chapter 2' > 'Checkpoint 2'. Also make sure that 'Targeting' is set to FREE AIM.

Once the cutscene at the beginning of the checkpoint has finished, Max will dive sideways through a glass wall within the VIP lounge of the night club. At this point Bullet Time will automatically be triggered and you must kill all 6 enemies shooting at Max before Bullet Time ends and you land on the ground.

    Tips:
    • Kill the enemies from right to left starting at the bottom of the stairs.
    • Don't worry about aiming for head shots. The enemies will die in one shot regardless of where you hit them.
    • Remember the starting locations of all 6 enemies to reduce the time between shots.
  • Cover Passos With Perfect Aim

This trophy can only be obtained in Chapter 3: Checkpoint 13. From the main menu, select 'Story' > 'Chapter Select' > 'Chapter 3' > 'Checkpoint 13'.

You will need to cover Passos with a sniper rifle as he makes his way through the seats of the stadium. This entire sequence of the Chapter is divided into four sections of enemies when Passos relocates to another location. In order to unlock the trophy you must kill all 14 enemies without missing a single shot. If you miss a shot during the first 3 sections, you can simply restart checkpoint but if you miss during the last two sections, you’ll have to quit out and retry Checkpoint 13 as there is another checkpoint between those sections.

    Section 1 - 3 enemies
    Section 2 - 1 enemy
    Section 3 - 3 enemies
    Section 4 - 6 enemies
    Section 5 - 1 enemy

    Tips:
    • Aim just in front of each enemy to allow for bullet delay.
    • Save your bullet time (activated by pressing ) for the final sequence as you will be shooting the enemies side on which makes them slightly harder to hit - you won’t have to allow for bullet delay when in bullet time.
    • Don't bother going for head shots, the enemies will die with a single shot regardless of where you hit them.
  • Get 7 Kills While Jumping From The Rickety Boat [FREE AIM]

his trophy can only be obtained in Chapter 5: Checkpoint 6. From the main menu, select 'Story' > 'Chapter Select' > 'Chapter 5' > 'Checkpoint 6'. Also make sure that 'Targeting' is set to FREE AIM.

Once you get noticed in the Rickety Boat at the start of the checkpoint, you will automatically dive out to the right, triggering Bullet Time. You must then kill 7 enemies before the Bullet Time ends and you land on the ground. This trophy is easier than other chapter specific and you shouldn’t have too much trouble as the majority of the enemies are standing out in the open as opposed to being in cover. Make sure you don't kill any enemies before you get spotted, otherwise you won't have enough enemies to kill.

    Tips:
    • Start killing enemies on one side of the room and then work your towards the other, i.e. right to left.
    • Don’t bother aiming for headshots as this will take to long, the enemies will die in one shot no matter where you hit them.
    • Make sure you have a gun that has a lot of ammo e.g. an Uzi so you don't need to worry about being overly accurate with your shots.
  • Clear The Hallway Of Lasers

This trophy can only be obtained in Chapter 4: Checkpoint 8. From the main menu, select 'Story' > 'Chapter Select' > 'Chapter 4' > 'Checkpoint 8'.

At the start of the checkpoint you will be in your apartment looking down the hallway. You will notice numerous green lasers shining through the windows on the left hand side of the hallway. In total there are 5 enemies with laser mounted guns in which you need to kill.

    Tips:
    • Position yourself in cover so that only one laser enemy can see you.
    • Use Bullet Time () to slow down time and kill enemies before they get a chance to shoot you.
    • Kill the 3 enemies at the end of the hallway first so they don't pose a problem when shooting the laser enemies.
  • Destroy All The Models In The Boardroom

This trophy can only be obtained in Chapter 6: Checkpoint 3. From the main menu, select 'Story' > 'Chapter Select' > 'Chapter 6' > 'Checkpoint 3'.

In total there are 5 Model buildings that need to be destroyed. They can be found in the second room of enemies once you start the checkpoint. Firstly, clear the room of all enemies but don't proceed to the doors at the end of the room. In this room you will see three small tables on the left and one large table on the right. The 5 model buildings you must destroy are located on each of these tables i.e. one on each of the three small tables and 2 on the large table. To destroy them, just shoot them with whatever gun you have until they are completely destroyed.
  • Get 9 Kills While Being Pulled By A Chain [FREE AIM]

This trophy can only be obtained in Chapter 7: Checkpoint 9. From the main menu, select 'Story' > 'Chapter Select' > 'Chapter 7' > 'Checkpoint 9'. Also make sure that 'Targeting' is set to FREE AIM.

In regards to Chapter specific trophies, this one will probably prove the most challenging. At the start of the Chapter you will automatically grab on to a chain inside the warehouse and be pulled vertically towards the ceiling. At this point, Bullet Time will automatically be triggered.

The 9 enemies are distributed over 3 levels of the warehouse (ground, first and second). You only have a brief time to kill the enemies on each level before they disappear from view as you are pulled upwards by the chain. As such your biggest concern with this trophy is running out of time and not killing all 9 enemies before you let go of the chain. There are 4 enemies located on the ground level, followed by 2 enemies on the first level and then three enemies on the second level.

    Tips:
    • Be quick with your shots. This means having pretty accurate aiming as to not waste time and miss enemies.
    • The final 3 enemies are the hardest to kill in time. Start with the enemy furthest to the left running up the stairs.
    • Try and remember the positioning of each enemy so you can quickly aim at them once they come into view.
  • Get 8 Kills While Dangling From A Chain [FREE AIM]

This trophy can only be obtained in Chapter 10: Checkpoint 5. From the main menu, select 'Story' > 'Chapter Select' > 'Chapter 10' > 'Checkpoint 5'. Also make sure that 'Targeting' is set to FREE AIM.

You will need to kill all 8 enemies when you jump onto the chain in the garage area and Bullet Time begins. All 8 enemies will be directly in front of you gathered around the garage door entrance. The first 5 will already be there once you jump onto the chain and the final 3 will come running into the garage from the outside area to the left of the garage door.
  • Clear Everyone On The Bus Ride

This trophy can only be obtained in Chapter 10: Checkpoint 11. From the main menu, select 'Story' > 'Chapter Select' > 'Chapter 10' > 'Checkpoint 11'.

During the bus ride towards the end of the Chapter, you will need to kill every enemy in which you drive past. You won't need to control the bus as Giovanna will be driving, you need only to focus on killing the enemies. It doesn't matter what difficulty you do this on or if you have hard lock or soft aim turned on. There are quite a few enemies during the bus ride but none of which are hard to miss as long as you pay attention and use Bullet Time appropriately. The only section worth noting is the end of the tunnel as you will need to kill the rocket launcher enemy before he fires at you as if you take to long you will get an instant death. The trophy will unlock during the cutscene before Giovanna crashes the bus.

    Tips:
    • Select the lowest difficulty as this will allow you more Bullet Time.
    • Use your Bullet Time () sparingly for small bursts as to save it for the end section where it will be vital.
    • Shoot the petrol pumps at the second group of enemies to ensure you don't miss any.
    • Bullet Time will be most crucial for the last group of enemies once you have come out of the tunnel.
    • You can still shoot enemies behind you once you have passed them but you may want to increase your controller sensitivity in the pause menu.
  • Trigger A Bullet Cam On The Zipline [FREE AIM]

This trophy can only be obtained in Chapter 11: Checkpoint 11. From the main menu, select 'Story' > 'Chapter Select' > 'Chapter 11' > 'Checkpoint 11'. Also make sure that 'Targeting' is set to FREE AIM.

You will automatically jump onto the zipline when you chase an enemy at the start of Checkpoint 11. Once Bullet Time begins you will need to kill all 5 enemies on the opposite side of the zip line. The Bullet Cam will trigger once you kill the fifth enemy. You will have unlimited ammo so don't worry too much about your accuracy.
  • Get A Headshot During The Rooftop Tremors

This trophy can only be obtained in Chapter 12: Checkpoint 11. From the main menu, select 'Story' > 'Chapter Select' > 'Chapter 12' > 'Checkpoint 11'.

At the end of Chapter 12 you will fighting your way through enemies on a rooftop of a building. Every few seconds there will be tremors as the building begins to collapse, causing the screen to become shaky and Max loses his footing. During this time aiming becomes a lot more difficult. Once one of these tremors begins you will need to get a headshot on an enemy. The trophy does involve a bit of luck but you shouldn't have too much trouble if you follow the tips and video below.

    Tips:
    • Use a shotgun because the spread pattern of the pellets gives you a greater chance of getting a headshot.
    • Stay close to an enemy while waiting for the tremor to begin and then activate Bullet Time () to help steady your aim.
    • Play on easy difficulty as you will get more Bullet Time and you won't receive as much damage from enemies.
  • Get 6 Kills While Riding The Push Cart [FREE AIM]

This trophy can only be obtained in Chapter 13: Checkpoint 14. From the main menu, select 'Story' > 'Chapter Select' > 'Chapter 13' > 'Checkpoint 14'. Also make sure that 'Targeting' is set to FREE AIM.

During Chapter 13: Checkpoint 14 you will jump onto a cart which will automatically start Bullet Time. You will then need to kill all 6 enemies through the windows who are located on the opposite building. This isn't too hard but you can be pushed for time towards the last few enemies. If you successfully killed all 6 enemies then the trophy will unlock once you have jumped off the cart.

    Tips:
    • You will have unlimited ammo so just use your automatic 9mm and fire continuously.
    • Start shooting enemies from right to left to reduce time spent aiming back and forth.
    • It doesn't matter where you shoot the enemies, because they will die in one shot regardless so you don't need to waste time trying to get headshots.
  • Total Everything On The Runway

This trophy can only be obtained in Chapter 14: Checkpoint 12. From the main menu, select 'Story' > 'Chapter Select' > 'Chapter 14' > 'Checkpoint 12'.

This is the final Checkpoint of the game and you will be driving down a runway in pursuit of a plane about to take off. You will be armed with a grenade launcher and will need to blow up/destroy every enemy vehicle in which you encounter. This includes all Humvees, police cars and the helicopter. In total there are 10 road vehicles are one helicopter that you need to destroy. You don't need to actually kill the enemies on the ground but you most likely will anyway.

If you fail to destroy a vehicle then just reload the checkpoint and try again. You will unlock the trophy once the cutscene begins after you catch up with the plane.

    Tips:
    • When aiming the grenade launcher, you will need to take into account the travel time and drop of the grenade. As such, aim higher and in front of the targets.
    • Reload your grenade launcher after each group of vehicles so you start fresh with 6 grenades as if you need to reload when you drive past the parked cop cars you will miss your chance to destroy them.
  • Survive A Level Without Painkillers

Painkillers restore your health which means in order to do this you must complete a Chapter without taking much damage. While you may get this without trying, if you can't then the best way is to simply play Chapter 1 on Easy difficulty. As long as you don't use any Painkillers by pressing or enter Last Stand mode, you’ll unlock the trophy after the chapter is completed.
  • 10 Bullet Time® Kills In A Row

The best place to do this is during the bus ride for Trouble Has Come To Me. Once it starts, kill the first four enemies then let the enemies near the fuel tanks shoot you a few times to build up your Bullet Time gauge. Once it's about a quarter full, use it and gun down all the enemies near the fuel tanks. There are exactly 10 here so if you kill them all during Bullet Time then you will get the trophy, this is best done on Easy difficulty because Bullet Time lasts longer.
  • Shoot 10 Airborne Grenades

Whenever an enemy throws or shoots a grenade at you, you can shoot it while it's still airborne. There are multiple occasions where you will be forced to do this so you should unlock this naturally during your many playthroughs.
  • 300 Headshots

Aiming for the head should always be your priority because you'll do far more damage that way, headshots will also fill your Bullet Time gauge faster. This should easily come naturally.
  • GLITCHED

In order to melee an enemy, press next to them and you will kill them. Chances are you won't find yourself getting many melee kills playing normally, as you'll rarely be in close quarters with your enemies.

The best way to do this is by playing Chapter 6: Checkpoint 11. From the main menu, select 'Story' > 'Chapter Select' > 'Chapter 6' > 'Checkpoint 11'. As soon as it starts you'll be asked to disarm a guy with , disarm him and shoot him with and this will count as a melee kill. As soon you kill him, restart Checkpoint and repeat until the trophy unlocks. The trophy may not unlock exactly on 100 kills, however you will need 150 for a Single Player Grind and it should unlock well before that.
  • 100 Kills During Shootdodge

In order to Shootdodge, simply press to jump through the air in Bullet Time. Chances are you will get this naturally, if not then you will definitely get it during your Hardcore playthrough. Regardless, you will need to kill 1,000 enemies during Shootdodge for a Single Player Grind.
  • Kill 30 Enemies In 2 Minutes

The best place to do this is during Chapter 10: Checkpoint 11. From the main menu, select 'Story' > 'Chapter Select' > 'Chapter 10' > 'Checkpoint 11'. There are over 30 enemies during the bus ride and it lasts no more than a minute so simply kill all enemies and you will get the trophy without hassles. Playing on Easy with Soft Lock aiming may help. For further details, see Trouble Has Come To Me.
  • Use Every Weapon In The Game

For this you must get a kill with every single weapon. You will find most of the weapons multiple times and will easily get kills with as long as you make sure to kill an enemy with every weapon you come across but some weapons are easily missable. UNOBTAINABLE DUE TO SERVER CLOSURE

There are a total of 6 Faction Characters to unlock for this trophy. You will automatically unlock the sixth and final faction character when you reach Rank 7 (14,400 XP). The Faction Characters to be unlocked include:
    • Tropa Z
    • Commando Sombra
    • UFE
    • De Marcos
    • Cracha Preto
    • Punchinellos
If you reach Rank 7 through Arcade Mode, you will need to play a multiplayer match for the trophy to unlock. This can be done in Private Matches.
  • Winner In Any Public Deathmatch

    UNOBTAINABLE DUE TO SERVER CLOSURE

For this trophy you must win an online Public Deathmatch. Team Deathmatch and Private lobbies do not count. It doesn’t matter which type of Deathmatch you play, i.e.Beginners Deathmatch, Deathmatch (Soft Lock), Deathmatch (Free Aim) or Hardcore Deathmatch. In order to win a Deathmatch you must have the highest number of kills at the end of the match.

Deathmatch only requires two players in the lobby in order for the match to start. As such you could potentially boost this trophy with a friend by searching for a game at the same time, preferably in Deathmatch (Free Aim) or Hardcore Deathmatch as these lobbies are generally less popular than the traditional Deathmatch (Soft Lock) lobbies. Visit the Trophy Boosting Thread to find a boosting partner.

You will likely unlock this trophy by natural progression as you level up to Rank 50. You may even get lucky and enter a lobby/game where everyone leaves, leaving you on your own and the automatic winner once the game ends.
  • Looted A Body

    UNOBTAINABLE DUE TO SERVER CLOSURE

In order to loot a body you must stand close by and press and hold . It doesn't matter if you were the one who killed them or not and you can even loot the bodies of your own teammates if they have been killed. Looting an enemy will reward you with various bonuses, including painkillers, cash, adrenaline and ammunition. It will also help with gaining XP so we advise that you loot as often as you can.
  • Won A Wager

    UNOBTAINABLE DUE TO SERVER CLOSURE

Wagers are a form of betting that can only be placed in the Gang Wars online multiplayer game mode, they will only unlock once you have earnt $2,000 in multiplayer. You will likely achieve this very quickly. Before each round starts you can place a wager on a player for achieving a range of challenges. For example: The first kill, most kills, highest kill streak etc. The wagers that appear are completely random and so to are the players in which you can choose from. As such there is a lot of luck involved in getting this trophy, just keep placing wagers each game and you will eventually unlock it.
  • Achieve Level Rank 50

    UNOBTAINABLE DUE TO SERVER CLOSURE

You will require 619,500 XP in order to reach Rank 50. You can rank up and earn XP both online and offline. The trophy will take a lot of time to obtain and largely depends on skill and patience. Multiplayer has died down a lot in recent times so you may spend a considerable amount of time just trying to find a lobby/game with other players. Although the offline method is quicker, it is much more of a grind. We suggest switching it up by playing both online multiplayer and offline arcade mode to level up. If you reach Rank 50 through Arcade Mode, you will need to play a multiplayer match for the trophy to unlock. This can be done in Private Matches.

The total amount of XP required for each Rank is given in the below spoiler.

The information below will cover tips and strategies on how to earn XP both online and offline.

    ONLINE (MULTIPLAYER)

Before starting out in online multiplayer, we highly recommend you join Rockstar's Social Club. This website is similar to Battlelog for the Battlefield games in that it allows you to track stats, online Grinds and find different crews to play with.

    Tips for earning XP:
    • Join a Crew: This was the first game in which Rockstar introduced Crews via the online Social Club. By joining a crew you will earn slightly more XP than if you weren’t in a Crew. It doesn’t matter what Crew you join and there are numerous Public Crews for you to choose from. You can only join, leave and change Crews via the Social Club.
    • Grinds: As with the Single Player side of the game, there are numerous Grinds in which you can complete in online multiplayer which will reward you with considerable amounts of XP. Grinds are divided up into various types, including: Training, Action, Bursts, Items, Kills, Modes, Weapons, Hardcore and Maps. Each Grind can have up to 4 levels of completion associated with them, i.e. Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum. As you can imagine the requirements for each level increases from Bronze through to Platinum and so to does the XP reward. Some grinds can be very easy to complete, whilst others can be quite difficult, requiring you to go out of your way. I suggest looking through all of them yourself and working on the ones that compliment your play style.
    • Loot enemies: Looting enemies will reward you with a small amount of XP. I highly suggest getting in the habit of looting as not only will you earn XP from doing so but there are also numerous Grinds related to looting. You can view these in the Action list of online Grinds.
    • Gang Wars Mode: Gang Wars is by far the best game mode to earn a lot of XP in a short amount of time. Each game of Gang Wars will cycle through 5 rounds of different game modes where each team will have to complete different objectives against the other team (see Full Monty for an overview of each game mode). Each round is pretty quick and as long as you play the objective required for each round you are sure to rack up quick XP.

    OFFLINE (ARCADE MODE)

When you complete Chapters in Arcade Mode, you'll receive XP based on what medal you receive. You'll get 250 XP for Bronze, 500 XP for Silver, 750 XP for Gold and 1000 XP for Platinum. One Chapter in particular is incredibly short: Chapter 4: Part I, this can be completed in ~3 minutes, including the load times between runs of the Chapter. You'll want to do this on either Score Attack or New York Minute, as Challenge Mode will take longer due to having specific challenges to fulfill.

We recommend doing NYM over Score Attack as there is more room for error. In order to get a Platinum score you must finish with over 3 minutes on the clock and it can easily be done with over 4 minutes. Below are steps for completing the Chapter as quickly and efficiently as possible:
    1. As soon as the Chapter starts, shoot the first guy and skip the cutscene.
    2. Quickly take out the four guys in the room with you. As you play this more and more, you'll quickly become good at taking out all four guys quickly. Once they're dead, take a gun and Dual Wield.
    3. Head down stairs and take out the three guys in front of you, followed by those behind the counter. Next the guy who comes from the kitchen, then the last two in the back room. Do this with haste because speed is of the essence. There are 2 Painkillers on the counter when you first go down the stairs if you need them.
    4. Once the cutscene starts, you can skip it when Max is halfway up the stairs.
    5. When Max is in cover, look out and quickly shoot the gas tank of the car on the right until smoke is coming from the wheels. Let it explode. Once exploded, repeat for the car on the left.
    6. If anyone survives the explosions, take them out quickly and then proceed.
    7. Usually you can skip this next cutscene but sometimes the game won't let you.
    8. After the cutscene, go into Bullet Time and quickly shoot the gas tank of the car directly in front of you. Once it starts smoking, repeat for the car behind it to the left and the car behind it to the right. If anyone survives the explosions, take them out.
    9. Sometimes it will be faster to only blow up the first two cars and shoot the remaining enemies individually, this is up to you.
    10. Once everyone is dead, you should easily meet the 3:00:00 requirement for the Platinum medal. At the results screen, press to restart immediately and save yourself some time. XP still counts this way even if it doesn't say so.
    11. Repeat ad nauseum.
If you intend to do this exclusively for Rank 50, you will have to run it 620 times. This averages out to 31 hours, including load times. It can get very tedious so it is recommended that you break this up with some MP levelling if possible.

This will be the best place for you to also grind out Dual Wield and Explosion kills for the Single Player Grinds.
  • Kill Someone On Your Friends List

    UNOBTAINABLE DUE TO SERVER CLOSURE

This is as simple as the description states. Get your friend to join you in a Deathmatch and arrange to meet at a certain location in game or just play the objective and you will probably come across one another sooner or later, their name will appear above their head when you see them. Visit the Trophy Boosting Thread to find a boosting partner.

Secret trophies

  • Don't Shoot The Dis-Armed Man

This trophy can only be obtained in Chapter 14: Checkpoint 11. From the main menu, select 'Story' > 'Chapter Select' > 'Chapter 14' > 'Checkpoint 11'.

This trophy description contains spoilers on how the story finishes:

Once you have defeated the man with the grenade launcher during the final boss fight inside the airplane hangar, a cutscene will begin where you will approach the man on the ground. Even though this is not a QTE, if you shoot your weapon then you will kill the man. As such, don't press any buttons at this point but simply wait until the cutscene is over then the trophy will unlock. If you do happen to kill him then just replay the Checkpoint and try again.
  • Flawless Team Gang Wars Victory

    UNOBTAINABLE DUE TO SERVER CLOSURE

Gang Wars is a 5 round, team-based objective game mode. For this trophy you must win all 5 rounds within a single game of Gang Wars. In total there are 12 different game modes in which you can play (refer to Full Monty for more information). The first 4 rounds are predominantly random, with the final round being Showdown or Survivor, which is a handicapped variation of Team Deathmatch which takes into account both teams' performance over the previous 4 rounds.

    General tips on winning:
    • Play the objective. Don't treat each game mode as a Deathmatch, actually play the objective as you will be rewarded more for completing objectives than simply killing opponent team players.
    • Work together. As with any team-based game, work with your teammates and help support/cover them. Don't run and gun and be careless.
    • Arsenal. Use whatever bursts, weapons and armour that work best for you. It's best to stay relatively light weight to ensure you don't burn through your stamina.
    • Persevere. You will be playing a lot of Gang Wars as you grind your way to Rank 50. Just keep playing with either your friends or just with randoms and by chance or skill, you will eventually win all 5 rounds.

DLC: Local Justice Pack

5 trophies

  • Get 2 kills in a single Shootdodge in the Departure Lounge

    UNOBTAINABLE DUE TO SERVER CLOSURE

Best to boost this in a team deathmatch. Have two people stand at the bottom of the escalators in the main terminal area, or at the bottom of the stairs in the baggage area. Make sure you have the LAW or RPG in your arsenal. Simply shootdodge down the stairs and blow both people up before you hit the ground. This can be boosted in a public match if you don't have a full party, but it's more difficult. If you don't have the LAW or haven't unlocked the RPG, you should dual-wield and soften both of your targets up to around half their health before shootdodging.  If you're trying to do this legit and only get one kill in the air, don't panic. Stay on the ground and kill whatever unlucky guy comes along next. As long as you do not get off the ground after the shootdodge, the game will still count your next kill towards the trophy.
  • Kill 4 players within 3 seconds in the Imperial Palace

    UNOBTAINABLE DUE TO SERVER CLOSURE

The hardest trophy in this set, I thought. There are two methods to do this.

    Legit Method

Your best chance at doing this legit is to make good use of the Weapon Double Dealer burst. At level 3, it will cause the other team to immediately drop all their grenades, primed. If you are supremely lucky, you can catch a few of them in cover with this burst. The idea here is to kill one (or two if they are close to each other) normally while running around the map, and then immediately trigger your burst and hope it gets the rest of the team. It's not impossible, but it's extremely difficult to pull off.

UPDATE: If you also have the Hostage Negotiation Pack, you can also get this trophy by using the level 3 Explosives burst.

    Boosting Method

Set up a team deathmatch with your group - 8 people. You can obviously set up anywhere on the map, but a nice place to gather is in the empty pool outside. Simply have all four members of the other team stand closely together and nail them with the RPG or LAW. A grenade would also work here.
  • Win 20 Vendettas in the 55th Battalion HQ

    UNOBTAINABLE DUE TO SERVER CLOSURE

For this trophy, you need to initiate and win 20 vendettas on the 55th Battalion HQ map. Vendettas from other players that you survive do not count for this trophy. You can initiate a vendetta on any player that has killed you twice or more without you killing them by pressing at the respawn screen. Do yourself a favor and equip the Vendetta Tracker item in your loadout. This item always shows your Vendetta target on your mini-map, which makes hunting them down a lot easier. The trophy will pop as soon as you kill your 20th target.
  • Level up your M4 Assault all the way to level 10

    UNOBTAINABLE DUE TO SERVER CLOSURE

You do NOT have to play on the DLC maps for this trophy. I found the M4 to be an excellent all-around weapon. It is comparable to the AK-47 - lower damage but a higher rate of fire. I also found it to be more accurate at distance than the AK. For this trophy you'll just need to keep killing with the weapon. It will take around 400 kills for you to level it up all the way to 10. Remember to equip the weapon mods as you go. My loadout was the silencer, mag guide, and the damage upgrade. You can check the Local Justice grinds to see how many kills you have with the M4. The trophy will pop as soon as your gun hits level 10.
  • Get 100 Kills as a member of the SPP

    UNOBTAINABLE DUE TO SERVER CLOSURE

The Sau Paulo Police is a faction that you will be randomly assigned to while playing on the Local Justice maps. I would recommend setting your SPP avatar to be something very distinct so that you always remember when you're playing as them. For this trophy you will need to accumulate 100 overall kills while playing in matches as this faction. The trophy will pop as soon as you hit 100. This should come during normal play if you frequent the DLC maps.

Here's a great tip for making this trophy go a little faster:

I just wanted to note that for the "Keep Your Nose Clean" trophy, you can just set your deathmatch avatar to someone in the SPP. Then play deathmatch and once you get 100 kills, it will unlock. This is how I did it since I was having trouble finding other game modes (like team deathmatch) where it puts you as SPP.

DLC: Hostage Negotiation

4 trophies

  • Perform a 720 spin while prone in Nightclub

    UNOBTAINABLE DUE TO SERVER CLOSURE

We've had our fair share of difficult trophies in Max Payne 3, but this is by far the easiest. For this you need to select the Club Moderno map. As soon as the match begins, shootdodge forward so that you end up prone on the ground. Then just rotate your camera around in a full circle twice, or until the trophy pops.

Also, I would like to say a tip about the "Old School Moves" trophy, (maybe is not usefull but i'll say anyway) actually you can earn it in a private match solo, this can help to anybody that recently bought the season pass (like me) and of course don't find any session (or gameroom) playing this map.
  • In a single game, kill the same player with both the M24 and the IA2 AR

    UNOBTAINABLE DUE TO SERVER CLOSURE

For this you will want to have two loadouts prepared - one with each new rifle in them. The M24 is a bolt-action sniper rifle with 5-round clips. It's a one-shot kill and reloads pretty quickly. The IA2 AR is your standard assault rifle. I found it comparable to the M4 or FAL. If you're going for this legit, the best way is to play half of the match with one weapon and then switch to the other. You will likely have killed all of the opposing team by the time you switch.
  • WMD

Get 3 kills from a single use of the level 3 explosives burst

    UNOBTAINABLE DUE TO SERVER CLOSURE

The explosives burst is new in this pack and does the following at each adrenaline level:

Level 1 - All existing dead bodies on your team are booby-trapped for the enemy.
Level 2 - Gives you explosive ammo for 10 seconds.
Level 3 - Drops a grenade near all visible enemies.

For this trophy you need to not only trigger a level 3 burst, but kill 3 people with it. This means you need to have 3 people visible on your screen and they need to be standing still long enough to be blown up. For legit players, I would recommend doing this in Gang Wars (the map doesn't matter) where you're likely to come across the enemy team camping together for an objective. For boosters, just meet at a central location and trigger the burst when your adrenaline is full.
  • Grind 60 Seconds of Intimidation on enemy players

    UNOBTAINABLE DUE TO SERVER CLOSURE

Also new in this pack is the Intimidation Mask, which you can equip in the head slot of your character. Intimidation causes players within your line of sight to reload very slowly. The trophy requires you to accumulate 60 seconds of extra reload time across any number of matches. It does NOT have to be done in a single match. If you're playing legit you'll probably get this just by equipping the mask and playing the game. Boosting is much quicker. All players should equip the mask and meet at a central location. Stand close together. From here, everyone should shoot a bullet at the floor, then reload, then repeat. It took only a few minutes for most of us to get the trophy doing it this way. It is unclear whether reload time stacks. That is to say, whether causing two players near you to reload effectively doubles the time gained toward the grind.

A great boosting strategy that Wodenshot put together is available here.

DLC: Painful Memories

5 trophies

  • Kill Max Payne in Panama as the De Marcos

    UNOBTAINABLE DUE TO SERVER CLOSURE

The only way to earn this trophy is by playing Canal De Panama in the Payne Killer game mode. Because you are playing on the Canal De Panama map, everyone who joins will spawn as one of the De Marcos abroad avatar faction. Now let someone have the first kill to become Max Payne and then all you will need to do is kill whoever is Max Payne. Killing Passos will get you nothing so try to avoid him at all costs.

For boosters make sure one person becomes Max at the start of the round, then continue going down the list of your members until everyone has killed Max. If you know for a fact that you killed Max and the trophy didn't pop, make sure you kill him with a gun and not melee or a grenade.

Due to a serious design flaw, this trophy is glitched due the game disconnecting if less than 5 people are in the lobby when the "Canal De Panama" map appears. See this quote by Dark_Raven666 for more details:

Long Arm of the Lawless is glitched in that the specific required for it - Canal de Panama - combined with the gametype - Payne Killer - results in lobbies almost always disconnecting if there are less than 5 players in the lobby (minimum is usually 3 players). This is an error on Rockstar's part and the map/mode simply doesn't load with only 3 players.
  • Kill someone with a melee strike in the Bar area of Hoboken Bar

    UNOBTAINABLE DUE TO SERVER CLOSURE

To earn this trophy you must be playing the Marty's Bar map, but you can play it on any game mode. This map is based on Chapter 8 from the main game (morgue and all) but has some liberties added such as a bar area. The bar area is a recycled environment from the already existing Hoboken Tenements Gang Wars map so it will look familiar once you reach it. Once you're in the bar area, simply wait behind the counter or hug a wall until an enemy comes through and press when close to them. Once you've meleed them the trophy will pop. The area located within the circle below is the bar area for this map.
  • Headshot someone with a Hangover

    UNOBTAINABLE DUE TO SERVER CLOSURE

Hangover is the new burst in The Painful Memories Pack and upon activating the burst, each level does the following:

Level 1 - Enemies will spawn with camera blur, 80% health, and 75 stamina
Level 2 - Enemies will spawn with camera blur, 60% health, and 25% stamina
Level 3 - Enemies will spawn with camera blur, 40% health, and 0% stamina

Hangover works like this: Once activated, for a short time anyone on the opposite team who respawns will be effected by Hangover. Hangover lasts for at most 5 seconds; sometimes it goes away almost instantly. The hip flask item also negates the effect of Hangover if an enemy is using it. Basically once you activate Hangover you have to kill an enemy with a headshot almost immediately after they spawn and the enemy can't be wearing the hip flask or it won't count. You may be thinking that since you need to get a headshot, it won't matter what level burst you use to get this trophy. Although that is partially true, you should use level 3 as it completely drains the enemy's stamina and, in-case they are wearing head protection, the lowered HP will still make it so a head shot is a one hit kill.

For boosting this or trying to get it done legit, I recommend using a small map (like Branco Headquarters or Shoot First) or a map with lots of tight corridors (like Hoboken Alleys, 55th Battalion HQ, or Club Moderno). You may also get lucky and get into a room where no one has the Hip Flask item, there is no way to tell who has it but playing maps that are not in this map pack may make it easier to get this trophy.

Lastly, here is a quote that may prove useful to those of you out there still trying to get this trophy legit, credit to sandman for this tip:

I just got the Ouch My Head trophy legit on the Marty's Bar map when I wasn't trying for it. I never used the Hangover burst, so I must have earned the trophy from someone else's use of the burst.
  • Kill a player on the yacht from the observation platform of the Panama Canal

    UNOBTAINABLE DUE TO SERVER CLOSURE

To earn this trophy the player who will be killing needs to be in the observation deck and have a weapon that can be used for long range such as the LAW, RPG or a sniper rifle (point A on the image below in the video) and the person being killed needs to be on top of the yacht (my personal opinion is to get on top of the closed Jacuzzi, point B below). Now as long as no-one kills you whilst you're in the observation deck and no-one kills your partner on the closed Jacuzzi then this trophy will be yours.

This can be done in Team Deathmatch (although getting the map with both sides is rare) but more than likely you will need to do this in gang wars. You need to be playing on the Canal De Panama map.
  • Kill the sniper who broke your Hip Flask in the same life

    UNOBTAINABLE DUE TO SERVER CLOSURE

The Hip Flask is one of the new items that comes with this map pack. The Hip Flask does two things:
    1. The Hip Flask prevents a sniper from doing any damage to you for one shot regardless of where they shoot you. If a sniper hits you with a sniper bullet then the Hip Flask will break and you are no longer safe from snipers (it doesn't protect you from any other type of weapons).
    2. As long as it hasn't been broken, the Hip Flask will also prevent you from suffering the effects of a Hangover.
To get this trophy a sniper needs to have you shot you at least once to break the Hip Flask, then need you need to kill that same sniper before they kill you. It doesn't matter if you kill them with a grenade, gun or even melee but you need to kill them before they kill you or you will have to try this again with a new respawn. For boosting just find a remote area and shoot once to break the Hip Flask, and then have your boosting partner shoot and kill you. Reverse the process and both players involved will earn the trophy. This trophy can be earned in a private match.

DLC: Deathmatch Made in Heaven Pack

7 trophies

  • Blind 3 players simultaneously with the Pepper Spray

    UNOBTAINABLE DUE TO SERVER CLOSURE

Pepper spray is one of the new weapons that you can use in this DLC expansion. Unlike previous weapons, both regular and DLC, the Pepper Spray can be used to not only kill your opponents but it can also be used to stun them. This makes it easy for you to get away and have a teammate kill your enemy or even to just mess around and make the enemy mad. To get this trophy you need to attack 3 players at the same time with the Pepper Spray; the spray shoots like a normal gun does in Max Payne 3 but the spray comes out at a constant arc and has only a maximum range of a few feet in front of you.

You will also know when you have blinded someone with it because they will perform an animation of putting their arms/hands in front of their face and they will not be able to move. This means that you need to spray 3 people very close to each other within seconds of each other. Playing on a smaller map is ideal for getting this legitimately.
  • Trigger and avoid a Bouncing Betty by Shootdodging

    UNOBTAINABLE DUE TO SERVER CLOSURE

To use a Bouncing Betty, you need to throw it like you would any other explosive/projectile (hold or depending on your layout, and throw with or ). However, unlike other explosives it needs to be in the proximity of an enemy before it will explode; the Bouncing Betty will remain on the ground and only launches upward and explodes when an enemy player comes in contact with it. Once you've deployed the Bouncing Betty, wait somewhere close to it until an enemy comes by and activates it. Once the Bouncing Betty is activated, you'll know because it'll be in the air, shootdodge backwards and away from it. Done correctly, this trophy will pop with no problems.
  • Kill a player with the Bouncing Betty

    UNOBTAINABLE DUE TO SERVER CLOSURE

To know how to use a Bouncing Betty, to know what a Bouncing Betty is or even how to kill someone with it, please see Sweaty Betty.
  • Stun 10 players with either the cattle prod or stun gun

    UNOBTAINABLE DUE TO SERVER CLOSURE

The cattle prod and stun gun are 2 more of the new weapons that this DLC expansion brings. I'm going to be listing pros and cons of both weapons below, also note that this trophy doesn’t have to be completed in one round.
    • The stun gun acts like a normal gun does (aim with and fire with ).
    • It only has 3 stun darts, unless you’re using the ammo pouch which brings it up to 4. Getting the trophy with one life is improbable unless someone else has a stun gun.
    • The darts only have an effective range of a few feet in front of you.
    • The cattle prod behaves more like a melee weapon then a gun.
    • It has plenty of power, which means you'll be able to stun more people in one life then with a stun gun.
    • Since it is essentially a melee weapon it has no range whatsoever, you need to be right next to your enemy like you would be if you were trying to melee them.
  • Open 15 Containers or Doors in a single game of Dead Men Walking

    UNOBTAINABLE DUE TO SERVER CLOSURE

In Dead Men Walking, to open anything (doors, health cabinets, ammo crates, weapon cases and weapon containers) you need to fill your grit meter so that you can open the container/door you want to. In the bottom right corner of your screen you will see a meter with 4 boxes, this is your grit meter and depending on how many boxes are filled depends on what you can open.
    1. The first box fills up brown and opens health cabinets, ammo crates, and a few doors.
    2. The second box fills up grey and opens the remaining doors as well as weapon cases.
    3. The third box fills up gold and opens up one of the few weapon containers throughout the map. Weapon containers contain the best possible weapons you can obtain in co-op.
Your grit meter also stacks so say you had both the brown and grey boxes filled, you could open one health cabinet and then one ammo crate or even another health cabinet (as long as they are brown). To get this trophy, you need to kill enough enemies to fill your grit meter and open a total of 15 doors and containers. Below are some additional notes you should know:
    • There is no way to keep track of how many doors and/or containers you've opened unless you are personally keeping track.
    • You have to be the one to open the door/container. The trophy will not pop if you and your partner have opened a combined total of 15.
    • Once a door has been opened, you cannot re-open it. However, once a container has been opened, after a set amount of points have been earned (the game will tell you if stand next to the container) you can re-open it and will count as an additional opened container.
    • If both you and your partner die, then the doors and containers you have opened will not count on your next try. This has to be done in one playthrough of dead men walking.
  • Complete the Challenge Mode

The Challenge Mode is a new addition to the arcade modes in Max Payne 3. It can best be described as a combination between New York Minute (not Hardcore) and Score Attack. Whilst being neither harder nor easier then either, Challenge Mode has you going through each of the campaigns chapters, like New York Minute but instead of having to continuously kill to keep your time from becoming zero you need to complete challenges that the game tells you to. They are not missable, as the game will freeze and state what has to be done while making sure you press to continue. Each of the challenges has a set goal (like kill x amount of enemies or kill enemies with no cover and no painkillers) and a set amount of time to do it in. If you fail the conditions or run out of time for that challenge, then you will be have to replay that challenge; It will not make you restart the chapter if you fail.

Below are some general tips for Challenge Mode, as well a link to a thread that I will be posting a video walkthrough of each chapter as well as a text description (along with the video) on how to best complete each challenge. Challenge Mode Walkthrough.
    • Pay close attention to the challenges. If you are tasked with killing x amount of enemies while prone, then having the option to use bullet time negates the need for cover (and makes the challenge ridiculously easy). While if you’re supposed to kill X amount of enemies prone without bullet time, then you’re going to have to readjust your strategy and pay attention to your surrounding for cover.
    • When not having to clear a challenge, stick to using a one handed weapon (mainly a pistol). You never know what challenge is around the corner, and using a pistol outside of challenges saves you ammo for your 2 handed weapons which help out tremendously during challenges.
    • As soon as you finish a challenge, heal yourself. A lot of challenges state that you cannot use pain killers, and you never know how close or far apart challenges are from each other.
    • If you fail a challenge, you won’t be forced to restart the entire chapter so use your failures as a way to understand there is a better way that this can be done; instead of using failures as frustration.
    • When not in a challenge, always aim for the head. You want to use as little ammo as possible outside of challenges and a headshot is the quickest way to deal with this problem.
    • Stick to free aim. It may not be ideal but pulling off headshots and aiming for particular body parts (like the groin challenges) will be way harder than they have to be if you’re using soft lock.
  • Earn a x4 multiplier in Challenge Mode

This is probably the easiest trophy in this DLC and can be obtained in any chapter of Challenge Mode. Since Challenge Mode is like a combination of New York Minute and Score Attack, you will have a score multiplier in the top left of your screen throughout each chapter. As long as you don't mess up any of the challenges, (your score resets to zero if you do), the multiplier will continue to increase. As soon as you hit a x4 multiplier the trophy will pop. For reference, I was able to get this in the first chapter, as soon as I made it into the underground parking garage and cleared the first bunch of enemies.
