Trophy Breakdown:
8 - 10 - 6 - 1

Introduction

Madden NFL 11 is one of the easier sports based platinum’s available, once you know what you are doing. The trophy breakdown is top heavy, so if you are looking to boost your Gold and Silver trophy counts, this is the game for you. The bulk of the trophies can be earned in a few hours of play. The only section that can take a little time is the Madden Moment Mode. But if you take your time and follow the guide, you shouldn’t have many problems.

LINK: MADDEN MOMENT GUIDE

This guide has been written from the point of view of a non-NFL fan, and is designed to be usable for people who like me know little about the sport and its rules. Before playing, all my knowledge about American Football had basically come from movies and other games. If you know your NFL, you should be able to skip many of the tips. But for everyone else, I hope they help.

Game Tips

Here are a few general Gameplay tips to start you off:

GameFlow: Madden NFL 11 has a new feature called Gameflow. This basically picks the plays for you. While it can get it right most of the time, every so often it will pick the worst option available. I’d recommend you get into the habit of picking your own plays manually. It will give you more control over what happens.

Two Player: Many of the trophies can be unlocked much easier with two controllers.

Simming: You cannot simulate matches.

Finishing: Quitting games once a trophy goal has been met will give you the trophy.

Rewinds: Unlimited Rewinds should be kept on all the time in case you need it.

Difficulty: The game difficulty does not affect any of the trophies.

OTP: The trophies that have No OTP in the description cannot be done during Online Team Play. This shouldn’t matter though, as Madden NFL 11 can be platinumed offline.

Roadmap

Step 1: Game Setup

There are a few ways you can drastically decrease the difficulty of getting many of the trophies:

- Changing the Game Settings
- Changing the Skill Settings

Game Settings: By messing with the game settings, you can open up opportunities to exploit your position to make many of the trophies easier to get. First of all you will want to turn off Offsides in the Penalty Settings.

My Madden > My Settings > Penalties

All you have to do is zero out the slider. This will make it much easier to get those Sacks and Fumbles that you will need later on. While you are in the Game Settings, make sure to turn ‘Fight for the Fumble’ on. You will need it on to be able to unlock the Pick Up 6 trophy. None of these changes will not affect play in Madden Moments.

Skill Settings: By messing with the skill setting sliders, you will drastically alter the effectiveness of your team (in a good way) and any CPU controlled team. Firstly, for the Player Skill settings go to:

My Madden > My Settings > Player Skill

Hit ‘custom’ and zero out all the sliders. This will increase your playing effectiveness across the board, basically making everything easier to pull off. Next up are the CPU Settings:

My Madden > My Settings > CPU Skill

As before, you should zero out all the sliders. This has the opposite effect on CPU controlled players, decreasing their playing effectiveness across the board, and making your life whole lot easier. None of these changes will affect play in Madden Moments.

Notes: If you are interested in more of a challenge, you should be very selective in how many of these changes you implement. Leave the bulk of the settings alone at first and see how you go. If the need arises, you can always change the settings as you go to make the game easier.

Make sure to save all changes by clicking the left stick .

Step 2: Roster Manipulation

If you find yourself having trouble beating a certain team, or are finding it hard to complete a particular trophy requirement, you can alter any player’s skill statistics in your favour for whatever you are attempting.

My Madden > NFL Rosters > Player Management

Before you start trying for trophies, you should set up a team which has had its statistics slammed: from now on referred to as the ‘Slammed Team’. This will help you to get most of the running and passing trophies out of the way quickly, easily and hopefully on the first attempt.

Which team should you hobble? You could pick your most hated team if you like, but I’d recommend picking any one of the following teams:

New York Jets
Cleveland Browns
Dallas Cowboys
Philadelphia Eagles
Arizona Cardinals
Seattle Seahawks

Why these teams in particular? These are the only six teams that you DO NOT play as in Madden Moments. Player stat changes carry into the Madden Moment mode, so you do not want to end up having to play out a challenge using a team that has been completely knackered.

Once you pick your sacrificial team, start at the top of the player list and edit every player in turn. Drop all their stat sliders to the minimum setting, which is 12 points. This will ensure each player is pretty much unusable. It takes a little time, but will save you hassle in the long run.
Important: When you are finished, make sure to hit to save your changes.

You should now have a ‘go to’ crap team that is almost assured to be a pushover. Now you should be set to go and get some trophies.

Note: As with Step 1, if you would prefer a greater challenge from the game, you should skip this step. Most of this Road Map and Guide is setup to get the trophies as quickly and easily as possible, and this is not necessarily the most fun route.

Step 3: Running Game Trophies

There are six trophies that you should get during this step:

- Man Dozer
- Elusive Man
- Fantasy Freak
- Home Run
- He’s Got All Day
- Old Spice Swagger Return

You can get them all in one game if you plan ahead. Use two controllers and line up against your ‘Slammed Team’ to make it as easy as possible. See each trophy in the main guide for more detailed descriptions.

Step 4: Passing Game Trophies

There are six trophies that you should get during this step:

- Deadly Accurate
- Winning Isn’t Everything
- YACtastic
- Perfect Game
- Defensive Dominance
- Did I Break It?

Again, the easiest way to get these trophies quickly is to use two controllers and line up against your ‘Slammed Team’ which you should have setup and ready to go. For a full strategy for each of the trophies, see the guide proper.

It may be better to leave Did I Break It? for another match do you don't chance messing with your averages for Perfect Game.

Step 5: Defensive Trophies

There are five trophies that you should get during this step:

- Pick Up 6, Nano
- Sack Master
- Butterfingers
- No Offense
- Old Spice Swagger Pick 6

These can generally be all got in a single game as well. Again, the easiest way to get these trophies quickly is to use two controllers and line up against your ‘Slammed Team’ which you should have setup and ready to go. For a full strategy for each of the trophies, see the guide proper.

Step 6: Madden Moments

There are 49 Madden Moments in total, but only 46 of them have to be completed. Most of the moments involve coming from behind to win in the 4th Quarter, so don’t worry about Comeback Kids. You can’t help but get it. Follow the Moment Guide to negotiate each one until you unlock Super Bowl Sunday. This is by far the biggest time-sink in this game, but if you take your time, you should make steady progress through this mode.

Step 7: Clean Up

There should be only 4 trophies left:

- Very Special Teams
- Laces Out
- Thanks for Coming
- Master Strategist

Again start a game using both controllers and against your ‘Slammed Team’. Make sure you are receiving the starting Kick Off. Return it for a Touchdown. Now switch controllers and get a Touchdown with your ‘Slammed Team’. This should give you the opportunity to return another Kick Off for another Touchdown. Make sure it is the same player both times, and you should receive Very Special Teams. After that, your job is to set up a 60+ yard Field Goal. The guide details the setup, and once you score it, you should receive the Laces Out trophy.

Next, enter Franchise Mode. You will be able to Simulate every match until you reach the Pro Bowl. All you have to do is play the match till the end. You don’t even have to win. Once it over, you will receive Thanks for Coming. That only leaves the Master Strategist trophy. Go to:

My Madden > Game Planning > Create Offensive Game Plan

Save any game plan, and the trophy, followed quickly by the Platinum, is yours. Congratulations.

25 trophies ( 10  8  )

  • Congratulations on earning every Madden NFL 11 trophy!

Congratulations on adding a nice shiny new Platinum for your collection!

  • Return 2 kicks for touchdowns in one game with one player (no OTP)

Not every kick type that can be returned for a Touchdown counts for this trophy. Safeties and punts for instance do not count. Only two types of kicks count: game starting kick offs and kickoffs after scoring a Touchdown.

Using two controllers, set up a game against your edited team. Make sure you have Rewinds set to unlimited. As you can control all the choices at the start, get the second team to kick off. Since that team has been hobbled, you should have no problem returning the kick for a Touchdown.

Then you have to score a Touchdown with the second team to set up the second kick. The key here is that you kick to the same person that returned the first ball. It HAS to be done by a single player to count. This trophy will unlock at the end of the game. You can quit once you have met the requirements for the trophy.

  • Force 3 fumbles in a game (no OTP)

To get this easily, face your edited team. The Quarterback like all the other players should have his stats slammed to 12 across the board. Once in game, you should set up the same way as you did for Nano and Sack Master. You should place your man right beside the Quarterback behind his Offensive line.

When the play starts, quickly tackle him and try to strip the ball away. I found that he would tend to fumble about one time in three. Just keep at it, and you will get the three fumbles sooner or later.

Important: Remember to hold to try to strip the ball in the tackle. This trophy will pop after the game ends.

Trophies that can be done at the same time:
Pick Up 6, Nano, Sack Master, No Offense & Old Spice Swagger Pick 6.

  • Rush for 50 yards after the first hit in one game (no OTP)

To get this trophy, you have to ‘rush’ or run 50 yards plus after shrugging off a tackle. You can do every yard in a single long run, or over multiple runs. What’s important is the initial contact with an opposition player. The yards will only count if they come AFTER a tackle.

Setup: Pick your favorite Running Play. Try to use the same player each time, as it makes it easier to track accumulated yards. Take on the first opposing player you can see and stiff arm him to get by. (Press ). From here make as many yards as you can. Rinse and repeat.

You can check how many yards you have accumulated by going into the game statistics and finding the player you are using for the attempt. This trophy unlocks after the game.

Trophies that can be done at the same time:
Elusive Man, Fantasy Freak, Home Run, He’s Got All Day and Old Spice Swagger Return.

  • Stay in the pocket for 10 seconds (no OTP)

The Pocket is the area the Quarterback operates in, where in theory he will be safe, at least for a short time. It extends to the QB’s left and right as far as either of the offensive tackles. They are the two guys on the outside of the line of five odd player protecting the QB. But importantly, it also extends the whole way back to your own endline. If you are deep in your opponents half, that becomes a large area. See the image below:

The easiest way to get this trophy is to exploit the fact that the Pocket extends back so far. Get yourself in position as close to the opposing End-Zone as you can. Call a Shotgun play to give yourself an extra lead on your pursuers. As soon as you snap the ball, get your QB to run straight back down the pitch towards your own End-Zone. Make sure not to go too far to the left or right. Your offensive line should hold for at least 3 or 4 seconds, and it should take longer than that for them to reach you at the far end of the pitch. All together, you should easily last the 10 seconds needed. If it doesn’t pop, try it again.

    This trophy unlocks straight away.

Trophies that can be done at the same time:
Elusive Man, Fantasy Freak, Home Run, Man Dozer and Old Spice Swagger Return.

  • Win a game by at least 59 points (max qtr. len. 7 min, no OTP)

There are two easy ways to get this trophy:

    - Play against your edited team and mow them down.
    - Play using two controllers, controlling both teams.

Edited Team: Since the opposite team is so slow and useless, you should be able to blow them away with pretty much any play you choose. Set the quarters to 10 minutes and you should have plenty of time to rack up a huge score.

With Offsides turned off, you can Sack the Quarterback to get the ball back quickly between scores. A little tedious perhaps, but a very efficient method all the same.

Two Controller Method: Using this method, you can control both sides at the same time and so have complete control of everything that happens. There are a few bonuses to playing as both sides:

    - You can return the ball to your scoring team to drastically cut down on the time it takes to rack up the score.
    - You can set the seconds team plays, so you can set them up to be wide open to your attacks.
    - Controlling both teams makes it much easier to go for multiple trophies at the same time, again saving time.

The beast way to approach this using this method is to set the second team up to play a Field Goal Block. This leaves them wide open for a middling to long pass. Pick your favourite Shotgun Pass to find a receiver and get the Touchdown. Run in a Two-Pointer after each Touchdown to max-out the score even quicker.

After the following kick off, you can punt the ball back to your scoring team to reset the setup. Rinse and repeat 8 times or so to get the score up there.

If you plan ahead, you can also get Old Spice Swagger Return, Fantasy Freak, YACtastic, Deadly Accurate, Defensive Dominance, Winning Isn’t Everything and Perfect Game. See each one for the best way to unlock them. This trophy unlocks after the game.

  • Catch 21 passes in a game with one player (no OTP)

You can easily get this trophy while going for Deadly Accurate. To get this trophy, you have to throw at least 21 passes to the same player in a single match. Once the criteria have been filled, you will receive the trophy after you quit.

Use the same setup as outlined for Did I Break It? and YACtastic. Throw a short and reliable pass to give your receiver the best chance possible to make the catch. You could also set up the second team to run a Field Goal Block. This will leave acres of space for you to pass into. Once you find a reliable pass you can pull off every time, recycle it till you hit the 20 passes.

Important: This one has to be done using a single receiver. So recycle the same play every time to make sure you are finding the right man.

This trophy will unlock at the end of the game.
Trophies that can be done at the same time:
Deadly Accurate, YACtastic, Perfect Game, Defensive Dominance & Did I Break It?

  • Return a punt for a touchdown (no OTP)

This is easiest done either against your edited team and/or by using two controllers. The bonus of using two controllers is that you can make the opposition punt at will.

Basically, once you catch the punt, you just have to make a run for a Touchdown. The best bet is to make a run for one of the sidelines, and try to flank the bulk of the opposition. You should get it within a few tries, if not on the first attempt. This one unlocks right after you pull off the run.

Trophies that can be done at the same time:
Elusive Man, Fantasy Freak, Home Run, Man Dozer & He’s Got All Day.

  • Win after being behind in the last 2 min of the game (min. qtr. len. 3 min, no OTP)

You won’t have to try to get this one. If you are trying to get the platinum, you will be completing all of the Madden Moments anyway. Over half of these require you to come from behind to win in the last few minutes to pass the moment, so you will get it without really trying.

If you are in a hurry, or for some reason you do not want to do the Madden Moments, you can get this using two controllers. Make sure the Quarters are 3 minutes long. Set up the game so that your opposition (Controller 2) is a few points ahead of you late in the Fourth Quarter. After the two minute warning, score to put your team in the lead. Wait for the clock to run down and you should be sorted. This trophy unlocks at the end of the game.

  • Intercept 5 passes in a game (no OTP)

The easiest way to pull this off is use two controllers. Set the Quarters to 10 or 15 minutes to give yourself time to play with. To make it even easier, play against your edited team.

Get them to pass using the same play every time. If you only tap the button to select the receiver, the pass will move slower through the air making it easier to pick. As the ball comes near, make sure to switch control so you are controlling the defender. Time the catch right, and you should be able to make the interception easily enough. Rinse and repeat 4 more times to earn this one. If you can manage to return the ball for a Touchdown from one of the interceptions, you will also get the Old Spice Swagger Pick 6 trophy.

It’s not really necessary, but you can turn on rewinds to give yourself a second chance to intercept on each play. Controlling both teams makes this a little redundant though. The trophy will unlock after the game.

Trophies that can be done at the same time:
Pick Up 6, Nano, Sack Master, Butterfingers & Old Spice Swagger Pick 6.

  • Rush for over 200 yards in a game with one player (no OTP)

To get this one easily, you should line out against your edited team. Pick your favourite Running Play (I’m fond of the HB Stretch) and see how far you can get. You should be able to rack up the 200 yards in 3 or 4 plays, if not less. Just make sure you are running the same player each time. To make sure, just recycle the same play over and over.

If you start out behind your own 20 yard line, you should also be able to get Home Run for an 80+ yard Touchdown rush. This trophy will unlock after the game.

Trophies that can be done at the same time:
Elusive Man, Home Run, Man Dozer, He’s Got All Day & Old Spice Swagger Return.

  • Nano

Tackle the QB before he can hand the ball off (no OTP)

The easiest way to get this one is to turn off Offsides in the penalty settings. This means you will be free to position a player right beside the Quarterback behind his Offensive Line. Just be careful not to touch any of the other teams players, as this is an immediate penalty.

Wait for the hike, and pounce. If the opposition are rushing, trying a Running Play and were about to make a handoff, you should be sorted. If not, just try it again. This trophy unlocks straight away.

Trophies that can be done at the same time:
Pick Up 6, Sack Master, Butterfingers, No Offense and Old Spice Swagger Pick 6.

  • Break 5 tackles in a game with one player (no OTP)

To get this trophy, use the same setup as you use for getting Man Dozer. You have to ‘rush’ or run the ball, shrugging off any tackles that come your way.

Setup: Pick your favorite Running Play. Try to use the same player each time, as the trophy is based on player rather than team stats. Take on the first opposing player you can see and either stiff arm him or spin to get by. (Press to Stiff Arm or Press to Spin). Once you get by, it will count towards the trophy. Rinse and repeat.

You can check how many yards you have accumulated by going into the game statistics and finding the player you are using for the attempt. This trophy unlocks after the game.

Trophies that can be done at the same time:
Fantasy Freak, Home Run, Man Dozer, He’s Got All Day and Old Spice Swagger Return.

  • Play the Pro Bowl (Franchise Mode)

The Pro Bowl is the All-Star game held at the end of the year between an AFC and a NFC team. To get to it you will have to go through Franchise Mode. Luckily you do not have to play any of the matches, except the Pro Bowl match of course.

Enter Franchise Mode and pick any team you like. Make sure to set the Quarter Length to 1 minute and bump the Accelerated Clock to 20 or 25 seconds

Once you are up and running, go to the Team Schedule in the Team Management. Go to Week 4, and select the option to Sim the Pre-Season. You should repeat the same steps for Week 17 to Sim the rest of the Regular Season. This will take you to the Pro Bowl. Choose whichever team you want, and play the full game. You do not have to win. Finishing is good enough to earn this one. The trophy should unlock after the game, once you return to Franchise Mode.

  • Have a perfect passer rating in a game (no OTP)

As with Winning Isn’t Everything, this trophy can be done at the same time as Deadly Accurate. My advice is to go for 21 passes, and then quit out. Pass to the same player 21 times and you will also receive Winning Isn’t Everything. Once the criteria have been filled, you will receive the trophy after you quit.

Perfect Game Criteria: a 77.5% completion rate, 12.5 yards covered per attempt, a touchdown on at least 11.875% of attempts, and no interceptions.

Important: you should aim to get a touchdown every four passes. Receive a pass, run 20 yards and then wait to be tackled. Repeat two more times, and then on the fourth pass run for the Touchdown. That should mean all the necessary stats are fulfilled.

Important: Recycle the same play every time to make sure you know exactly what is going to happen each time.

This trophy will unlock at the end of the game.
Trophies that can be done at the same time:
Deadly Accurate, Winning Isn’t Everything, YACtastic, Defensive Dominance & Did I Break It?

  • Break and 80+ yard touchdown run (no OTP)

To get this one easily, you should line out against your edited team. Run back to your own ten yard line and wait to be tackled. You should now have the whole length of the pitch ahead of you. Pick your favourite Running Play (I’m fond of the HB Stretch) and go for the End-Zone. You should be able to cover the distance without too much bother.

You should have a go at this at the same time as you have a go at Fantasy Freak. The two overlap nicely. This trophy will unlock after the game.

Trophies that can be done at the same time:
Elusive Man, Fantasy Freak, Man Dozer, He’s Got All Day and Old Spice Swagger Return.

  • Intercept a pass and return it for a touchdown (no OTP)

The easiest way to pull this off is use two controllers. Set the Quarters to 10 or 15 minutes to give yourself time to play with. To make it even easier, play against your edited team.

Get them to pass using the same play every time. If you only tap the button to select the receiver, the pass will move slower through the air making it easier to pick. As the ball comes near, make sure to switch control so you are controlling the defender. Time the catch right, and you should be able to make the interception easily enough.

It’s not really necessary, but you can turn on rewinds to give yourself a second chance to intercept on each play. Controlling both teams makes this a little redundant though. Once you get the interception, make a B-line for the End-Zone. You should not have any trouble getting in for the Touchdown. This trophy will unlock after you score.

Trophies that can be done at the same time:
Pick Up 6, Nano, Sack Master, Butterfingers and No Offense.

  • Have over 100 YAC in one game (no OTP)

YAC stands for 'Yards After Catch'. This means the distance a player travels after they catch a pass. Use the same setup as outlined for Did I Break It?. In fact, you should probably try to do the two at the same time. Throw a shorter pass to give your receiver room to run. This will cut down on the amount of runs you have to make.

Important: This one has to be done using a single receiver. So recycle the same play every time to make sure you are finding the right man.

This trophy will unlock at the end of the game.

Trophies that can be done at the same time:
Deadly Accurate, Winning Isn’t Everything, Perfect Game, Defensive Dominance & Did I Break It?

  • Win a Fight for the Fumble in the end zone for a TD (no OTP)

To get this easily, face your edited team. The Quarterback like all the other players should have his stats slammed to 12 across the board. If you use two controllers, you will be able to back the opposition up against their End-Zone. All you have to do is get one of their players to run back with the ball to their own 1 yard line and then carry the ball out of play. This means the next down will leave both teams in a prime position to go for this trophy.

Once in position, you should set up the same way as you did for Nano and Sack Master. You should place your man right beside the Quarterback behind his Offensive line. When the play starts, quickly tackle him and try to strip the ball away. I found that he would tend to fumble about one time in three. That does not guarantee a Fight for the Fumble though. But keep at it, and you will get a fumble AND a fight sooner or later. Once it comes up, you will easily win as the second controller will be idle.

Important: Remember to hold to try to strip the ball in the tackle.

    -----

Alternative Method: Again using two controllers, you will be able to back the opposition up against their End-Zone. You have to get one of their players to run back with the ball to their own 1 yard line and then carry the ball out of play. This means the next down will leave both teams in a prime position to go for this trophy.

Get them to run a Field Goal attempt, and you want your team to run a Field Goal Block. Exploit the lack of an Offside penalty and place a player directly in front of the kicker, just beyond the holder. You do not want to actually tackle anyone, your goal is to block the kick. Mange to do that, and a Fight for the Fumble should follow. Once it comes up, you will easily win as the second controller will be idle.

    ----------

While the first method will get you more fumbles, the second one will give you a Fight for the Fumble more often once you do force a fumble. Either can work, but you will need a little luck. Try both a few times if necessary.

Crucial Detail: Make sure Fight for the Fumble is turned on in the game settings.

The trophy will unlock at the end of the game.
Trophies that can be done at the same time:
Nano, Sack Master, Butterfingers, No Offense & Old Spice Swagger Pick 6.

  • Have a 92% or higher completion percentage in a game (min. 20 attempts, no OTP)

To get this trophy, you have to throw at least 20 passes and at least 19 of them have to be caught. That would be a 95% completion rate. 18 completions would only be 90%. My advice is to go for 21, and then quit out. Pass to the same player 21 times and you will also receive Winning Isn’t Everything. If the criteria have been filled, you will receive the trophy after you quit.

You can quit once you have met the requirements for the trophy.

Trophies that can be done at the same time:
Winning Isn’t Everything, YACtastic, Perfect Game, Defensive Dominance & Did I Break It?

  • Kick a 60+ yard Field Goal (no OTP)

A 60+ yard Field Goal doesn’t seem like too much, but it is pretty close to the kicking limit of the games kickers. There are two things you can do to help your cause:

    - Go to the settings in My Madden and max out the Special Teams sliders.
    - Edit your Kicker of choice, and max out his Kicking Accuracy and Power.

Now enter a match. Run the ball until you are just short of your opponent’s 45 yard line. You should be standing on the far edge of the team logo in the centre of the pitch.

From there you should have a 61+ yard Field Goal opportunity. Max out the Power and Accuracy of the kick and the trophy should be yours. Make sure Rewinds are on so that you can have a second go if necessary. The trophy will unlock after you make the kick.

  • Complete the 'Super Bowl Sunday' Madden Moment

There are 49 Madden Moments in total, but only 46 of them have to be completed to get this trophy. They are unlocked in sets of five, with the next group unlocking once the previous group has been completed. They are all based on real life situations. You either have to replicate or reverse what really happened. Although most of them are fairly straight forward, there will be a few that will test your patience and skill.

    General Advice

All the skill and gameplay settings are reset in Madden Moments. This means that none of the setup changes outlined in the first few steps of the Roadmap will be any help to you. The Offside rules are back in play, and the computer now plays a decent game of football.

The only way to weight conditions in your favor in this mode is though player stat manipulation. Any saved Roster changes will carry into Madden Moments, so it is possible to mess around with teams if needed. First you should play the moment, as they can often be finished without any changes. If you find you are having bother, run a specific play. It will probably not work. Pause the game and go into the Replay. Run forward to the catch/tackle/whatever went wrong, and get the name and number of the opposition players messing up your play. Armed with this info, go to:

My Madden > NFL Rosters > Player Management

Find the Player or Players, and drop their stats to favor your players chances. Make sure to save the Roster before you exit. Now head back and restart the Moment. Re-run the same play as before, and hopefully, this time it should end with a better result.

As I have said before though, only do this as a last resort. It will ruin the enjoyment of the game if you are too heavy handed. The general stats you need to drop to slow down a player and stunt their abilities are:

    For a General Player Slowdown:

Target their Strength, Agility, Speed, Acceleration, Awareness, Catching and Carrying stats. These should be used for any player you need to edit.

There are different particular positions of players whose stats you should look to alter depending on the situation. The Moments come in three four basic flavors:

    - Win from Behind
    - Defend a Lead
    - Retrieve, Attack and Win.
    - Score, Retrieve and Score Again.

    Winning From Behind

The bulk of the moments are this type. A typical setting will have you 5 points down with a minute left, forcing you to go for the try. These are your bread and butter scenarios: never overly difficult, and they can often be done first time out. The important thing in these Moments is to keep the ball moving forward, and to stop the clock whenever possible.

    When Shutting Down a Defense:
Target their Tackling, Pass Blocking, Run Blocking, Jumping and Pursuit stats.

    Defending a Lead

These are short but difficult moments. Typically, you will find yourself backed up against your Endzone, trying desperately to keep your opposition from scoring. The key to these Moments is to put pressure on the Quarterback. Sack him if you can, but at the very least get in his way.

    When Shutting Down a Quarterback:
Target their Short Throw Accuracy, Medium Throw Accuracy, Deep Throw Accuracy, Throw on the Run and Play Action stats.

    Retrieve, Attack and Win

These are longer and more difficult defending scenarios. You have to first prevent the opposition from scoring as there generally is not enough time to score twice. You have to get the ball back and then generally need to score a Touchdown to win.

    When Shutting Down Receivers:
Target their Jumping, Kick/Punt Return, Elusiveness, Spectacular Catch, Catch in Traffic and Route Planning stats.

    Score, Retrieve and Score Again

These are the ones that will drive you mad. The first Touchdown is usually easy enough, but you then have to get the ball back quick. You will spend ages trying to get the ball back via Onside Kicks. These few moments can take as long as all the others put together.

    To Favour an Onside Kick:
Target ALL their stats. This goes for all 6 or 7 players in the area of the Onside Kick.

    -----

As for the moments themselves, follow the Moment Guide to negotiate each one. This is by far the biggest time-sink in this game, but if you take your time, you should make steady progress through this mode.

    WARNING:
Make sure to SAVE after you complete each Moment. The game has a tendency to freeze in this menu for some reason, and a reset will mean you will lose all unsaved data. So take care!

  • Hold your opponent to under 100 yards of offense (min qtr. len. 5 min, no OTP)

You should not really have to try to get this one. If you follow the method outlined above for getting Did I Break It?, you should also receive this trophy. Just make sure to punt the ball back on first down every time the second team gets possession after you score with the first team. This trophy will unlock at the end of the game.

Trophies that can be done at the same time:
Deadly Accurate, Winning Isn’t Everything, YACtastic, Perfect Game & Did I Break It?

  • Record 5 sacks in a game with one player (no OTP)

Like with Nano, the easiest way to get this one is to turn off Offsides in the penalty settings. This means you will be free to position a player right beside the Quarterback behind his Offensive Line. Just be careful not to touch any of the other teams players, as this is an immediate penalty.

Wait for the hike, and pounce to get a Sack. You should keep a track of whether it is actually a Sack or just a Tackle. For it to be a Sack, the Quarterback needs be looking to throw a pass down field. Also he must still be behind the line of scrimmage. (Imagine a line across the field between the two teams as the line up before the play). Notch up five Sacks, and you’re sorted. You can keep a track of your total in the player statistics by pausing the game.

Important: this trophy is based on player stats, not team stats. Use the same player each time you try for a Sack.

This trophy unlocks after the game.
Trophies that can be done at the same time:
Pick Up 6, Nano, Butterfingers, No Offense and Old Spice Swagger Pick 6.

  • Create a Game Plan

This one only takes a few seconds, as you don’t have to actually put any thought into it. Go the Game Planning menu in the My Madden Section. Select the Create Offensive Game Plan option.

Once the creator has loaded up, simply name and save the preset plan. The trophy should pop almost immediately.
