Introduction
London 2012: The Official Video Game of the Olympic Games aims to recreate the atmosphere and excitement of the real thing when it comes to London at the end of July. Playing as one of 36 nations, your aim is to bring back gold for your country You can compete in multiple disciplines across track, aquatics, gymnastics and other sports like beach volleyball (a first in olympic video games). A throwback to the classic “International Track and Field” games, London 2012 the game puts you right in the shoes of a top athlete without the need to tie your laces. Making use of the PlayStation Moves controls adds a further dimension of realism to the game, alongside the prospect of competing for glory against competitors from across the globe.

You will be required to complete at least two playthroughs of the Olympic Games mode, on both medium and hard difficulty. This is because the Kit Collecter trophy has unlockables from each setting.

Step 1: 1st Playthrough
First of all you should take a look at the Pushing Yourself trophy. Your 1st playthrough would be a good time to start playing towards it as later you may find some of your times/scores are difficult to beat. This playthrough should be on the Olympic Games mode. You should play on medium difficulty and you should be aiming for All-Around Athlete, Got Gold, Successful Campaign, The Contender, 24 Carat Campaign.

Tip (This also applies to the 2nd Playthrough): If you are struggling with an event and you've used up all your retries, then during your last retry you can use the button and quit via the XMB. When you return to your career you have all your retries back to attempt the event again. As long as you quit during the last try the autosave doesn't kick in. (Thanks to Dino_Roar)

Step 2: 2nd Playthough
Your 2nd playthough will be to play through Olympic Games mode again, but this time on the hard difficulty mode. If you have done as advised in Step 1, then your main goal in this step is Kit Collector. Also if you have not earned the Self Improvement trophy then you should aim to get it in this playthrough. These 2 playthroughs will also rack up the kilometers for Marathon Man.

Step 3: Online Mode
There are 4 online trophies, all of which can be boosted; Social Sports, Take On The World, Represent and Glorious Results. The easiest way is of course to find yourself a boosting partner from the Boosting Thread, however they are not too difficult without.

Step 4: Challenge Mode
There are 4 trophies which are challenge mode specific; Awesome Foursome, All Star Performance, No Weak Links and Up To The Challenge. Work your way from Challenge Set 1 through to Challenge set 8. Some of these are tricky as the target scores can be fairly high.

Step 5: Clean Up
If you follow this guide correctly, the majority of the trophies will now be unlocked. Should there be any left, then complete them using the Events Play mode.

Note: Some trophies say "Whilst representing a nation". These trophies must be performed in Olympic Games mode or Event Play mode. Trophies that do not say this can also be done with the Move controller in the Motion Events Play mode. For example Cracking The Play.

45 trophies ( 16  26  )

  • Earn all other trophies

  • Create and play through a custom playlist

Easy enough, from the main menu select “Events Play”. From here proceed to choose up to 8 events and they’ll add to your playlist. Simply play all of the events and the trophy will appear after the last one is completed. The quickest method is to choose only the 100m, there is no minimum limit of events.

  • Earn 3 Gold medals in team events

From the main menu select Events Play. Play any of the team events (Volleyball, Archery, etc). You need to win gold in three of these. This can be done on the same event, I found team archery the easiest, although none of them are difficult, especially on easy difficulty. Once completed the trophy will unlock.

  • Beat your personal best in Team Archery or Synchronised Diving

Play an awful 1st round and then improve on it. Personally i chose Team Archery as you can aim all of your shots to miss. Then simply play again, improve on your score and beat your personal best.

  • Win an Events Mode session with four players competing

Select Events Mode from the Main Menu, choose up to 8 events and select 4 nations (You will need 4 controllers for this). Play through your session and the trophy will unlock.

  • Unlock all available sporting accessories

This will be one of the longer and more difficult trophies in the game. All in all, there are 16 unlockables in the game. 8 of them are National Kits and the other 8 are Golden Equipment (Golden Discus, Golden Shotgun etc). To earn these you will need to play through Olympic Mode on medium and hard difficulty. My advice would be to make sure you get gold in every event, especially on medium difficulty. On your hard playthrough you will need to get a minimum of 80 medal points (see below), so you can afford to get 2 or 3 bronze/silver medals during your 14 days.

    Gold = 3 medal points
    Silver = 2 medal points
    Bronze = 1 medal point

Thanks to Svend-Rugaard for clearing this up properly.

  • Qualify for the finals of an event in The Olympic Games mode

Go to the Olympic Games mode and choose any event on any difficulty. I chose to compete in the Womens 50m Freestyle swimming event, solely because it was the first event on the list. Win your event to qualify for the final and earn the trophy.

  • Earn a Gold medal in The Olympic Games mode

Can be done in the same run as The Contender except you need to follow through and win the main event. Quickest event is 100m. If required, set to easy difficulty.

  • Qualify for the finals of every event in an Olympic Games mode campaign

Similar to The Contender, you need to qualify for each event on the Olympic Games mode. This just takes perseverance. If required then select easy difficulty, however if also going for 24 Carat Campaign then you should play on medium or higher. Once completed the trophy will pop up.

  • Earn 20 medals in a single Olympic Games Campaign

Select to play Olympic Games from the main menu. This must be done on either medium or hard and I recommend to go for this at the same time as the 24 Carat Campaign trophy. This will save time on your platinum. You need to play to the best of your abilities and win as many gold medals as you can. Once you get 20+ then the trophy will be yours. (Thanks to johnnyhotrocks for clarification.)

  • After using a Retry Token, get a better result than before, and finish in the top 3

On the Olympic Games mode, fail to qualify for any event. After failing, press Triangle to retry and use one of your tokens. This time go all out to win. If you get in the top 3, the trophy will unlock once you complete the event.

  • Earn the Gold medal in every event of a medium or hard Olympic Games mode campaign

From the main menu select to play Olympic Games mode and select medium difficulty. Play through an entire Olympic Games mode. You have to win the gold medals in all events. Once done the trophy will pop up.

Tip: If you are struggling with an event and you've used up all your retries, then during your last retry you can use the button and quit via the XMB. When you return to your career you have all your retries back to attempt the event again. As long as you quit during the last try the autosave doesn't kick in. (Thanks to Dino_Roar)

  • Beat a World Record

Simply beat any world record. This can be done on Event Play mode so choose an event you are good at and keep trying until you beat the record. I did this in 100m as its a quick event. Make sure you get a good start & keep power constantly in the green, don’t forget to lunge for the line too giving you that extra few seconds off your time.

  • Beat your own personal best in every event possible, irrespective of gender

Just beat your personal best in each event. This will come naturally as the more you play the better you’ll get. Try to keep track of what you’ve beaten though, otherwise it could become a long, annoying process trying to figure out which event is needed.

This also includes the Team Archery, 3m Synchronized Springboard Diving and 10m Synchronized Platform Diving events (Thanks to Dalek for the tip)

Tip: If you go to Teams & Records from the main menu and then to Event Records, you can see which events you have set personal bests for. (It may also be worthwhile making a list of which personal bests you have beaten to keep track of your progress) Thanks to kfoxton.

  • Wear an alternative national kit in an event

Wear an alternative national kit in an event
See Kit Collector. Once you have unlocked an alternative kit, when choosing your nation select to wear the alternative kit and take part in any event

  • Complete a multiplayer game, while representing a nation

Play any multiplayer game and this will pop up (note this can be done offline). I did this on Team Archery in Event Play mode. Upon completion of the event (regardless of the outcome) the trophy will pop up.

  • Complete the Men’s K1 Kayak Single course with no penalties at all, while representing a nation

Navigate from main menu to events play and choose the Men's F1 Kayak Single. You must make it all the way to the bottom without picking up any penalties. This may take you a few tries to get used to the course, especially the gate where you have to repeat back on yourself up the river. Remember, there is no need to rush as it’s not about speed, only about not incurring a penalty.

  • Hit the bullseye camera of the archery target, while representing a nation

From the main menu select Events Play and play any archery event. You are aiming for the small camera in the center of the bullseye (the 10 pointer). This will most likely take a little while to get, regardless of skill level. Your persistence should be rewarded soon enough.

  • Score ten or more on every target in a 5-shot round in Rapid Fire Pistol, while representing a nation

I highly recommend doing this trophy through the Events Play mode as it will most likely take you a few attempts. So, go to Events Play on the main menu and choose the 25m Rapid Fire pistol event from the shooting section. It doesn't matter which difficulty or Nation you choose. The event is split into 6 rounds in which there are different time limits to take your 5 shots. The first round is 8 seconds long which makes it the best place to try for the trophy. I recommend playing over & over and each time you fail, just press start and hit restart. When shooting you need to be precise, smooth and above all be patient. You should see that the more attempts that you have, the closer you will get to earning the trophy. Practice makes perfect.

  • Earn a Gold medal in every Versus event, while representing a nation

For this trophy you will need to win gold medals in both Beach Volleyball and Table Tennis. This can be done in either Olympic Games mode or Events Play. Set the difficulty to easy to make it quicker, although neither are particularly difficult.

  • Earn a Gold medal in every Shooting event, while representing a nation

Choose easy difficulty (unless you want a challenge) and create a custom playlist. Add a Skeet event and the Mens Rapid Fire Pistol event to your playlist. earn gold in each event and the trophy will unlock. In the rapid fire event you will have to practice a little first as even on easy difficulty the opponents can do quite well, you should try to take your time in the earlier rounds and try to earn yourself a lead as the final rounds can be a bit tight for time. If you practice enough and fine tune your skills you should be able to win. I felt the Skeet event was much easier to gold. Again i recommend that you take your time as much as you can and dont panic if you miss any of the targets.

  • Earn a Gold medal in every Gymnastics event, while representing a nation

Choose easy difficulty and create a custom playlist. Add both types of Gymnastics events to the playlist (Trampoline and Vault). I recommend that you choose medium difficulty routines (Easy routines may not get you the required score from the judges, whereas some of the more difficult routines can be a pain to perfect in order to get high scores). Both of the events are all about timing as they are button prompt events. Simply hit the correct buttons as they appear on your screen. Once you get your gold medal on the 2nd event, your trophy will unlock.

  • Earn a Gold medal in every Jumping event, while representing a nation

Go to Events Play mode from the main menu and create a custom playlist. Add High Jump, Long Jump & Triple Jump to the list. Play on easy difficulty if required. It won't be too hard to win the 3 gold medals on easy. Once completed the trophy will pop up.

  • Earn a Gold medal in each of the 4 types of Track events

Choose easy difficulty (unless you want a challenge of course) and create a custom playlist. Select 100m, 110m Hurdles, 200m & 400m (Either mens or womens). Earn gold in each event and the trophy will pop. On the shorter races a good start is a huge help. Try to keep your power guage green at all times for optimum pace.

  • Earn a Gold medal in every Throwing event, while representing a nation

Choose easy difficulty and create a custom playlist. Add each of the throwing events to the playlist (Discus, Javelin and Shot Put). The throwing events can be found in the Field Events section. On the Shot Put event it is fairly easy to build your power right up to max, when putting this together with the optimum angle (35 degrees) you will achieve a long throw (I got Olympic record on my 2nd try). The Javelin is slightly different in that you have to slowly build up your speed (if you tap too fast you will slow down) and keep a nice rhythm to make the bar green, couple this with the optimum angle and you will achieve a nice distance. The discus is slightly different, follow the button prompts with your analogue stick to build up the speed and lock it in, then it is just down to the angle of your throw (aim for 45 degrees), good speed and a good angle will get you a gold medal. Once you have won all 3 gold medals, the trophy will pop up.

  • Earn a Gold medal in each of the 5 types of Swimming event

Choose easy difficulty (unless you want a challenge of course) and create a custom playlist. There are too many swimming events to play all of them on 1 custom playlist so you will need to do this twice. Earn gold in each event and the trophy will pop. On the shorter races a good start is a huge help. Try to keep a smooth rythem and you should win gold no problem.

  • Touch the bar in a High Jump and still clear it successfully

Raise the bar on the high jump to just under your maximum ability and keep jumping until you clear it by grazing it, without actually knocking it off.

  • Touch the last hurdle and win a medal in 110m Hurdles

Simple this, play the 110m hurdles on events mode and make sure you hit the last one. Get a good start and clear all the hurdles except the final one. Practice and timing will make perfect.

  • Hit every target at Station 4 in Skeet

Now this can be tricky and a little long-winded as well because it’s the 4th section of the skeet which means you have to play through the first 3 sections each time you restart which is very repetitive. The best place to do this is Event Play mode, so navigate to there from the main menu and select the Skeet event. Again this is another trophy that may need to play a few times to improve your skill and learn the trajectory of the targets. After a while you should have the skill to pick up the trophy.

  • Win a Table Tennis or Beach Volleyball match without losing a point

This is one of the tougher ones. For this trophy I went for table tennis as it was my stronger sport, but this could vary for you. You need to win both sets 7-0. Easy is the best mode to do this on. Do not make any fouls and return all his shots. If you push him around the table and use the spin wisely, he’ll make many mistakes. Another one where persistence and patience is vital.

Tip from Gradev - This can be done with a second controller. Just select to play table tennis and it can be done within a few minutes.

  • Win a Race by 0.07 seconds or less

Do this on the 100m, just try to time crossing the line slightly ahead of an opponent. If you’re cruising; slow down or up the difficulty to increase the chance of being close to an opponent. A few tries should get you this.

  • Perform 10 Power Shots in a Table Tennis match

Select to play a table tennis match in any mode. Event Play is best as you can restart as required. This is basically all about timing. When the ball is coming towards you, you need to push the up at precisely the right moment. If you do it right you will hear the crowd cheer and you will see flames around the ball. Repeat 9 more times. If you haven't gotten there before the end of the second set then try to take it to a third set to give yourself more time. The trophy will pop up at the end of the match if you are successful.

  • Receive a perfect ten from one of the Judges in Diving

From the main menu, select Events Play and choose a diving event. Select 1 of the harder jumps (the easier jumps will not be able to score you a 10) and hit the buttons as they come up. You will need to perform the jump faultlessly in order to score the perfect 10. This may take a few tries to get the jump spot on. Once completed the trophy will soon unlock.

  • Distance run over career is 42.195km

One of those accumulative ones that you’ll achieve whilst playing the game. If this is your last one, simply keep playing the races and clock up those kilometers.

  • Perform 30 foul attempts in field events, over your career

This one will most likely unlock whilst playing through the game in search of the other trophies (24 Carat Campaign, Leaping Legend etc). If not then just go to Event Play, choose any of the field events and purposely foul in order to reach the total of 30.

  • Perform 10 ace serves over your career

Select to play Event Play mode from the main menu, select to play either Table Tennis or Volleyball. You must score 10 points straight from your serve over the course of your career. I chose to do this on Table Tennis as I felt this was my stronger event. I tried to put as much power and swerve as I could into my serve and hoped that the opponent missed the ball. This will come over time. Once completed the trophy will unlock.

Tip: This can be done with 2 controllers. Simply start a 2p table tennis match and as player 1, boost your aces until the trophy pops up. (Thanks to johnnyhotrocks)

  • Play an Online Tournament with one or more friends

From the main menu go to Online Play and invite your friend/s to an online tournament. Once you have played through the tournament the trophy will unlock.

    Boosting Thread

  • Win an Online Tournament

From the Main Menu, select Online Play, followed by Online Tournament and then Public. After that I chose Race Events as they are generally quicker than Versus and Round Based Events. Once you have connected to your opponent, you will have to compete in 5 events and be the overall tournament winner. Once you win the tournament you will unlock the trophy. Boostable in Private room if you have partner.

  • Play online and complete a Quick Match or Custom Match

From the main menu, select Online Play, select your nation and then choose Quick Match. Wait for connection and complete event. The trophy will unlock once you return to the online lobby.

  • Win a total of 5 Gold medals in Online Quick Matches or Online Custom Matches

From the main menu, go to Online Play and select either Quick Match or Custom Match (If you want to play a specific event I recommend Custom Match as it narrows down the search a little). Once you have connected to opponents & the game has loaded up, you just need to beat them in whatever event you are playing to earn yourself a gold medal. Repeat 4 more times to win 5 golds and the trophy will unlock.

  • Complete a Challenge Set with 4 players

For this you will need 4 controllers. From the main menu go to Party Play and then select any of the Challenge Sets. Connect with all 4 controllers and simply play through the chosen challenge set. You only need to complete the set so performance is not an issue. Once the Set is completed the trophy will unlock.

  • Earn 9 Challenge Stars in a single Challenge Set

2 Controllers are required for this. From the main menu select Party Play and then choose a challenge set. You will need to score 3 stars on each of the 3 events in the set, so choose a set in which you feel comfortable with all 3 events, if possible. Once you have completed the set and gained the 9 stars, the trophy will unlock.

  • Complete all Challenge Sets for any controller type

You will need 2 controllers for this. From Main Menu, select Party Play and then down to Challenges, you will see there are 8 challenges. In each challenge there will be 3 events in which you must perform to a certain standard. Once you have taken part in each event you will be awarded stars based on your performance. You must score set amount of stars throughout the 3 events to successfully complete a challenge. Do this for all 8 challenges and the trophy will be yours.
Note: Some of the targets are quite high so this can be difficult.

  • Complete a Challenge Event, where every player scores more than their share of the 3-star target score

You will need 2 controllers for this although you can do it by yourself. From the main menu go to Party Play and then choose any of the challenges. I personally chose the 1st challenge and earned the trophy on the Javelin section. Both athletes need to earn at least half of the goal amount in order for the trophy to unlock. For example on the javelin event you need to get a combined total of 170 metres to earn the 3 stars, so you need to get at least 85 metres with each control pad. Easy enough.

  • When two or more players are introduced all together for a race, be the one who emotes first

Navigate to Event Play from the main menu and select to play any race. When selecting your nation, press X to join on a second controller. Once the race loads up, simply press square before the race starts when prompted to do so. Your player will salute the crowd and the trophy will unlock.
