According to the strategy guide, you have to have 100 straight pre-emptive strikes in a row. Hope this helps everyone out.

i didnt get any of these trophies after 100 cause i got these trophies all before i hit 100 lol and if u got a preemptive strike on one u can retry the battle and u can keep repeating it and getting the PS so u dnt have to worry bout running into another creature thatll attack you.

A great place to farm this is The Archlytte Steppe at the Clearwater Marshes during rainy weather. It's the best place to farm Potent Essences/Crystals, so you're able to kill two birds with one stone.

I Got This Trophy With Ease In Oerba 200AF, As None Of The Enemies Rush Towards You There. A Fair Amount Of Crystarium Points Can Be Earned Too, Which Will Help Towards The 'Supreme Being' Trophy. :)

I did it in the ridge that runs through the center of the Archylte Steppe (N-S) with cloudy weather. Lots of Goblins, Scutaris, and Microchu's which are all easy to get a preemptive strike on. Not a bad spot for Mana Essence farming either. I even ran into 3 metal giantuclars for 4000 CP a pop with the colling in CP skill.

breshia ruins AF100 is also a good place to get this trophy, if you stay in the ruins you'll only encounter those munchkins and tempests, both are not aggressive.
I don't have the trophy yet, but I'm at 62 battles so far and not once did I mess it up.

In case anyone else wanted to know, field killer "kills" do not count.
I tried using field killer and clock master (high speed) to get it done quicker, but after 150 kills in a row without the mog clock leaving the green section, still no trophy.
Im hoping clock master alone will work, as it will mean battles are actually initiated therefore pre-emptive strikes are counted.

Can someone please confirm something for me on this trophy:
I've been working on this in Oerba 200AF; it's got simple monsters to farm.
However...TWICE the MogClock appears then disappears before I can take any action. First time, I didn't get a even get a chance to see any monsters; the second, I saw, but it deactivated on me. -Both- times were within a second of it activating.
Would this effect my collection of pre-emptives for Clock Stopper?
I'm also doing this, btw, while still first time through the game, without having obtained the items mentioned here (Field Killer and Clock Master).
I've an odd nitch to getting trophies early if I know it's possible, hence why I'm only on 'act' 2 while attempting this...

Got this one today with Clock Master (faster setting) and encounter master (not needed really).
I didn't escape from monsters, so maybe that kills the count, using retry during each battle helps.

word of advice - don't use the fast speed settings, it's really easy to mess up things and run into monsters. Consecutive fighting in Clearwater Marshes shouldn't take longer than an hour of playtime, plus you will get tons of Monster Materials

"Retry" does work! I tested it out just now in Clearwater Marshes, getting a "Great!" preemtive strike on goblins. As soon as Noel did his blitz starting maneuver, I hit start, selected Retry, and then struck for another "Great!" I repeated this 10 times, then killed the goblins, saved, and repeated the process... saving at each 10 in case I screwed up. It took about 20 minutes--and I suspect it could have gone faster with the faster speed setting (dangerous as it can be) or by hitting start as soon as the battle began instead of those precious seconds of Noel backflipping from the gobs. Anyway! I know for certain that I did not have many successful preemptive strikes from before and I only completed perhaps 10-11 actual battles. So, the "Retry" option works and can save you 40-50 m

you can make it like @24 said, pick a fight, pause then retry, get a preemptive strike, wait the 'great' message and the fight beguns, then retry again. I did this in the same battle, took me about 20 minutes and the trophy pop up on the retry 101.

I got this one fairly easily. I did it in the Yaschas Massif 110 AF. It took me a little over an hour, but fairly painless. The only creatures who rush you are the mandrakes. I saved every five battles, and if I messed up, I'd quit before the battle ended and reload. Was a lot less frustrating than just trying to get it on random play.

Worked on this while farming Essence's in Archylte Steppe, any weather is fine, although I did min mostly during the rainy seasons. I had several Fragment skills active to help speed things along, one that makes stronger enemies appear, one for increasing how often enemies spawn and doubling any CP I win. Do this in the water portion of Archylite Steppe, killing and farming enemies for about 40 mins and there's the trophy plus a good amount of essences.

Brilliant, thanks all for this page. Spent a good hour slowly working my way up in Episode 1 (for some reason), then discovered the Retry method mentioned in this thread and blew threw the rest in no time. Cheers!
PS: Can also confirm Retry method still works with patch 1.05.

This works the best the first time you go to Oerba Village. None of the monsters are really hostile, you get good CP, and you also get items to level up your monster companions with.

I can confirm that if the monster disappear because you get too far from him, the counter won't reset. It happened to me because a blue(?) chocobo appeared too far from me, he disappeared too quick for me to react. Then I did like 20-30 more and got trophy. I did this in the recommended area given by the trophy guide: The west section of alchoyyte steppe(spelling?).

How i done it was every 5 fights i saved and if the enemy ran into me or the clock ran out i simply quit and loaded the save back up! worked perfectly ! i had a piece of paper to keep track of my fights so all i had to do is count 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and save and mark

This can actually be very easy if the player uses the high speed and more randm encounters fragment skills. I did this trophy on "a dying world 700AF" and it was quite easy. I saved every 10 fights and loaded when needed. The enemies won't even move (they are just some weak ceith) with the exeption of a rare cactuar that can appear and cause some trouble, but it's easy to load and repeat if it appears.

I can confirm that this does NOT need to be done in one sitting. I used the retry trick to get about 43 of them, then saved & quit the game. The next day I did about 45 more and the trophy popped up. (I don't know why it popped @ 88? I guess I had accidentally done 12 in a row before even attempting this?)

Only trouble I had with this trophy was that I couldn't engage the enemy fast enough to get the PS. Due to having to rotate the camera and your aim has to be kinda precise. So I was always struggling to find my enemy just TO engage.
So I think i chose Oerba beach where Raspatil spawns. (Cant remember the year) The monsters didn't move quick so i had plenty of time to find and engage them. Also they frequently popped in high numbers so i could easily find a target fast. Got the trophy within about 1-2 hours here.

Another good spot is Augusta Tower 300AF. Much like others it allows farming of potent engines from flanitors and flanborgs. Great mechanical monster farming spot plus big window to get the PS correct. Takes a while so good luck.
