Road Map

I suppose this should open with a brief description of what echochrome ii is as it is very different from most games that you'll play. The basic idea is that you will use the Move controller as a flashlight to manipulate and move the shadows cast by the shapes in the foreground around. By moving these shadows, you'll create pathways for your avatar to move through the puzzle to a goal, collect echos of the avatar, or color the level a certain amount. You will have to play through each level three times in each of the three game modes (Escort, Echo, and Paint).

Playthrough 1 - Escort

You can actually play through the game in any of the three modes, but Escort is definitely the easiest and what is actually recommended by the game as the first mode to play. You'll have to complete each block of levels, A-J. The first has five tutorial levels, the next five blocks have 10 levels each, and the last four blocks have 12 levels each. Not all of the blocks will be available from the start and you'll have to unlock some as you go. Of course, as you advance through the levels, the puzzles will become more complicated. Once you unlock the G and H blocks, a new mechanic will be introduced where you can rotate the level either using the or , on a DualShock.

The main trophy that you'll want to work towards is Light and Shadow Apprentice. By completing all 98 (103 if you include the tutorial block) levels in Escort, you'll earn this trophy. Along the way, you'll most likely get Big Bouncer, Ankle Twister, Tunnel Digger, Head Banger, and possibly Goal Tender. All of those are cumulative trophies that you will unlock just by playing through the game enough. Avid Walker is the last cumulative trophy, but that will take quite a while to unlock, so don't worry about that. Remember, you'll have to play through each puzzle at least three times anyway.

Also on your first playthrough, you'll be collecting the 26 pieces of Shadow Art for Art Collector. Each piece of Shadow Art is found in certain levels. You will have to manipulate the puzzle in a certain way for the image to appear. Once you uncover the image and you hear the chime along with the "Shadow Art Found" pop up, you will then have to complete each level in order to save the art.

Playthrough 2 - Echo

Once you complete Light and Shadow Apprentice, it's time to start working on Light and Shadow Journeyman. This will require you to complete a second game mode. Either Echo or Paint can be done here. The choice is yours though. For the sake of simplicity, I'm using Echo as the example for the second playthrough since it's the icon to the right of Escort.

Echo is slightly different in that you don't have to reach a goal, but you have to pick up stationary echos of your avatar. Again, you'll have to move around the shadows to reach echo. You'll have to complete each level again on this second game mode.

Playthrough 3 - Paint

With Light and Shadow Journeyman completed, it's time to complete the third mode for Light and Shadow Master. For the sake of this road map, the third mode I'll describe here is Paint, but it can be either Echo or Paint. Again, you'll have to complete each of the 98 levels for a third time.

Paint is like what it sounds, you move three colored avatars around each puzzle, painting each level that color a required amount. The amount of color that is required in each level is different for each one. It varies between about a third of the level to two thirds of it. Move your avatars around the levels as you've done previously and try to reach as much of the level as possible.

Step 4: Online

You can actually do this step at almost any point during any of the three playthroughs. First, create five levels and upload them for Custom Crafter. If you don't want to spend the time creating five unique levels, then create a very simple one, copy it four times, and upload each level. You can delete them when you're done.

Begin to play through user created levels. After completing a level, you'll have an opportunity to describe the level with a sticker. These stickers are predetermined descriptions of the level. You can only affix one sticker to each level. Once 100 user created levels are complete, then you'll earn Sticker Sticker.

Step 5: Walking and Walking and Walking and Walking...

Hopefully by this point, you will have unlocked Avid Walker. There shouldn't be any problems unlocking this trophy. With 399 levels to play, some of which are fairly large and complex, you will get this by the time you complete everything else. If you haven't, then create a level that is fairly large and has an infinite loop where you can walk continuously. When you have the level set up and start walking, then leave the game running long enough to unlock this trophy.

[PS3T Would Like to Thank olsen77 for this Roadmap]

Avid Walker
Take 10,000 steps.

This is an accumulative trophy. Every step that your avatar takes in all of the modes counts for this. Your avatars will just have to take quite a few steps though. You can't really farm this since it's such a large number of steps that the avatar(s) has to take, so don't even worry about it. This will come as you're playing through each level. Since you have to go through each level at least three times, worry about completing Light and Shadow Apprentice, Light and Shadow Journeyman, and Light and Shadow Master first.

If for some reason you're having trouble unlocking this trophy or are just getting impatient, then create a level that is fairly large and has an infinite loop where you can walk continuously. When you have the level set up and start walking, then leave the game running long enough to unlock this trophy.

Big Bouncer
Jump 100 times.

This is an accumulative trophy. In order to jump, you'll have to manipulate the puzzle a bit. Scattered around most puzzles are spheres. If you move the shadows around such that one of the sphere's shadows is inside of a platform, but sticking out a bit, you've made a bounce pad for your avatar to jump. You will find these in almost every level, so you should get this fairly quickly and without even trying for it.

Ankle Twister
Fall through holes 100 times.

This is an accumulative trophy. Some platforms will have holes in them. If your avatar walks on one, it will fall through and (hopefully) onto a platform below. You will have to adjust the scene a bit so that the avatar can fall safely. Again, these are quite common in puzzles and you will earn the necessary amount fairly quickly.

Tunnel Digger
Walk through arches 50 times.

This is an accumulative trophy. Arches are sometimes tricky to work with. Not only do you have to get the arch shape to appear, but two arches have to be connected to the same shadow. When you walk through one, you can continue to go back and forth between them until you unlock this. It will take a bit of time. Arches will be found quite a bit, but they're not as common as bounce pads or holes.

Head Banger
Hit your head on ceilings 30 times.

This is an accumulative trophy. Occasionally, you'll find a bounce pad that launches your avatar into a platform above. It doesn't happen often, but you also don't need a ridiculously high number of head injuries for this trophy.

Goal Tender
Reveal 100 goal points.

This is an accumulative trophy. Each level in Escort mode has a goal point. To reveal these, you have to find a vertical rectangle (will be blue in the foreground) and combine it's shadow with a sphere's shadow. The circular shadow will have to be above the top portion of the rectangle to create a bit of an archway. With 98 levels in Escort mode, you'll get this long before the end. You also don't need to pass through 100 goal points, just reveal them by combining the shapes.

Art Collector
Collect every piece of shadow art.

There are 26 pieces of Shadow Art in different levels throughout the game. In order to find them, you have to move the Move controller around to form the shape until you see a pop saying "Shadow Art _____". Once it's unlocked, to save it, you have to complete the puzzle. Here are the videos for all 26.

Light and Shadow Apprentice
Finish all Play Mode levels in one game mode.

The first game mode that you'll most likely be starting with is Escort. Here, you're manipulating the scene so that the avatar can make it's way to the exit. There are special shapes along the way that you can utilize to help get you there. A sphere sticking out of a platform will bounce you up into the air. A hole in a platform will cause you to drop to a lower platform. Arches are kind of a teleporter and will take you to any arch that is also connected to the same platform. You will also have to find the goal, which is revealed with by connecting a sphere to a vertical rectangle.

There are 98 (103 if you include the tutorial levels) levels in all and they get more complex as you advance.

Light and Shadow Journeyman
Finish all Play Mode levels in two game modes.

The second of the game modes is Echo. Here, you have to collect the echos of your avatar around the level. Again, you'll have to manipulate the puzzle in order be able to access each echo. The levels that you have to complete are the same 98 that you had to do for Escort mode. There are no goals that you have to reveal. As soon as you collect each of the echos in a level, then the level is completed.

Light and Shadow Master
Finish all Play Mode levels in all three game modes.

The final mode is Paint. You will have three colored avatars in this mode and again, you'll have to manipulate the puzzle so that they can make their way around it. Unlike the other two though, there is nothing to collect or a goal to reveal. They just have to walk around. Every surface that they touch though gets colored whatever color that they are. There will be a wheel in the top left corner and there will be a mark indicating what percentage of the level has to be colored in.

Custom Crafter
Upload five custom levels.

Yes, there is a level editor. Fortunately, the levels that you make can be as complex or as simple as you'd like. If you want to create five very simple levels, upload them all, and then delete them, you can. The trophy will unlock after the fifth level is uploaded.

Sticker Sticker
Affix 100 rating stickers. (1)

After completing community created levels, you can describe the levels with some pre-selected stickers. Select one of the sticker options (Not Bad, Excellent, Difficult, Beautiful, Tricky, and Shadow Art) and drag it over onto the image of the puzzle with the other stickers. I had trouble getting the stickers to stay if I placed them anywhere except partially on top of another sticker of the same type. If you choose a different sticker that hasn't been used yet, you can place it anywhere on the edges. You can only use one sticker per level, so you will have to create 100 user created levels.
