Complete the game on Ultra-Violence! difficulty

How to unlock Know DP? Know madness

Note: This difficulty is unlocked from the start if you are playing on PS4 so you can earn it on your first playthrough instead of doing two.

Ultra-Violence! Difficulty is the hardest one in the game and is unlocked after completing the game once normally. For the most part it's pretty easy especially after your first playthrough (if you did one), you will know the layouts of the maps better and how the enemies act and move. Overall there may be a few tough sections but it isn't that bad, most the boss fights aren't that bad either with some trial and error, nothing should cause too much trouble, except until the final boss.

Even on Easy, the difficulty on the final boss spikes so hard that it can truly be a nightmare on this difficulty, you have to defeat each of the previous bosses again, Sinister and several of his clones. This took me a good few hours to complete and may take you the same. You really need to focus to complete this.

    Tips for the last boss:

    - Conserve ammo, going empty is the last thing you want, use the pulse rifle!
    - Play smart, don't get too ahead of yourself
    - Use your special attacks
    - Try to use weapons you have fully upgraded!
    - Don't use Melee attacks on the final boss as he will more than likely kill you if you try, thus only sparingly use your Melee specials. See the tip below, courtesy of Terminator, for more info:

Melee attacks of any kind are borderline suicide against the final boss (even on Easy) as there's a 95% chance that he will use his Choke and Throw attack on you, which will decimate your health when it hits and leave you open to a cheap death. I found the safest method was to use Flashbang Grenades then shoot him from a distance. All the ammo drops will respawn in time so you don't have to worry about running out of ammo, at least not for very long.

Here's a video by Vinster K of the final boss being beaten on this difficulty you can use it as reference if you so choose:

  • does anyone know if this can be unlocked by doing the chapters separately? im currently stuck on the last level. SO if i finish that on say easy can i come back and finish the last chapter on hard when im upgraded and get the trophy
  • Try to Back up your save data on usb or online then finish it on easy .
  • I can confirm it works i went through on easy to lvl up deadpool fully then went back to the last level and the trophy unlocked :)
  • Just to clear this on up you have to play every level on ultra violence, you can't just complete the last stage and get this trophy.
  • Excuse the double post but for even further clarification; it doesn't matter if you complete the stages on ultra violence out of order and you CAN do it from chapter select.
  • Okay this wasn't as bad as I thought it would be after you have everything fully upgraded, play the game a few times and use the 300 combo trick to get some DP points to make this achievement easier. As for some tips, use the shotgun for the bosses and bigger guys (green, molten, white, and tubba) that shotgun takes care of them quickly arclight had no chance. Use the Plasma Rifle (or w/e its name is) with the momentum when in groups to save your butt also with a large group of enemies to kill them quicker, and the miniguns and handguns for running around. For all the levels just play them once and have a little forehand knowledge to speed this up but TAKE YOUR TIME and kill the enemies off before proceeding. For the final level rush through as quick as you can to the finial stag
  • For the final level rush through as quick as you can to the finial stage kill the chubbas with the shotgun and plasma rifle or hammers. When your on the big wave of clones just go slow, the next wave after that the best method is to get the 2 giant white guys with the machine guns to follow you to the end of the course on the left hand side (up the stairs, to the left and around the wall you will see 3 Gold DP points) kill the 2 big guys (if you killed the first guy there you can have 3 miniguns) there and have that area be your final stand with the miniguns you will make short work of the clones just keep killing till the cut scene, with this Run and teleport often run up the stairs and take out Vertigo then use the shotgun on either arclight or the clone making short work of them, then
  • Are the difficulties stackable?
  • is this difficulty playable since the first minute?
  • So I started this mode this morning and i found an amazing way to play: get the pulse rifles and before getting in close combat fire them so theyre "out" then counter any attack. BOOM! takes off a huge chunk of health or kills baddies and uses no ammo, is fast and can be used to block virtually any counter-able attack! i recommend this more than weapons because it does a lot of damage and you can counter every "O" you see, it literally takes half a second.
  • thanks guys
  • Don't know why everyone is so at ease when it comes to this trophy. Beating the game on ultra-violence difficulty almost made me give up the plat completely. The last 3 levels are pure ridiculousness: even with 100% fully upgraded stats and weapons, I get melted in less than a second by a grunt with a machine gun. Some sections are virtually impossible to fight through due to too many machine gunners shooting at you and melting you in less than a second. For one of those areas, I was forced to just throw flashbangs and run past the gunners into the next cutscene. Finally, the last stage was stupid hard on ultra violence difficulty. Played it for over an hour, got to arclight and blockbuster, then paused the game and took a one and half hour break to cool down. Came back and finished it in
  • The guide says ultra violence is locked on ps3 (on first go). But mine is unlocked from the start . How's that ?
  • It said PS4 man, not PS3...
  • Ultra Violence is unlocked straight away on the PS3 now!
