INTRODUCTION:
Welcome to Bejeweled 3. If you’ve played the previous games, then you know exactly what to expect. If you haven’t, then you’ll be matching up gems or different shapes and colors to make lines of three or more. This new iteration comes with four new game modes in addition to the four traditional modes. Along with Classic, Lightning, Zen (Endless), and Quest modes, Bejeweled 3 adds Butterflies, Diamond Mine, Ice Storm and Poker modes. While sometimes difficult and frustrating trophy wise, Bejeweled 3 is an extremely enjoyable, fun, and addicting puzzle game. Enjoy.

WALKTHROUGH:
Step 1: Unlocking Modes
You’ll first want to focus on unlocking all 8 modes for the Game in Hand trophy. You’ll need the other modes unlocked in order to work on the other trophies. See Game in Hand for info on what needs to be done to unlock the other modes. On your way to unlocking the modes you’ll most unlikely also unlock: Friendly Fire and Supercharged. You’ll also want to focus on perfecting Lightning Mode and working towards the two trophies from that mode: Lightning Storm and Blazing Speed.

The following steps can really be done in any order. This is what we recommend:

Step 2: Play through the Unlocked Modes
In this step you’ll play through the unlocked modes: Poker, Ice Storm, Butterflies and Diamond Mine. The trophies you’ll be focused on achieving in these modes are: Skull Crusher, Diamond Miner, Cold Feat and Butterfly Guardian.

Step 3: Quest Mode
You’ll want to complete Quest Mode for the Relics Revealed trophy. You need to unlock all 5 relics in quest mode. See Relics Revealed for a detailed guide on the modes and requirements to unlock each relic.

Step 4: Badges
Once you’ve finished all of the other trophies you can focus on completing the badges. There are 15 non-elite badges that range in value from Bronze to Platinum. You need to get all 15 badges to the gold level for the All That Glitters trophy. Some of them are cumulative and progress as you play and some have requirements that must be completed in one game. That's why it's best to just leave this for last. After playing through so many of the modes to obtain other trophies you'll unlock quite a bit along the way. Just mop it all up here. See All That Glitters for details on what needs to be done to get each badge to the Gold level.

You also need to unlock at least one of the 5 elite badges for the Elite Gem Wielder trophy. You can see the details on those gems under Elite Gem Wielder. A few of them you’d have to work towards while others could come naturally as you play.

GENERAL TIPS:

Hint Button -
Utilize the hint button - sometimes this wastes a bit of precious time but in other instances it saves you. It doesn’t cost anything to use it and you can use it as much as you want. Be aware that sometimes it doesn’t always give the best solution. If you’re stuck though it can be a lifesaver.

Special Gems -
Special gems will more often than not determine your success in a game. The more special gems you can create and utilize the better. The special gems are:

  • Flame Gems - you create Flame gems by matching 4 gems. When you match the flame gem it explodes and destroys the 8 gems that surround it. This gem is the most common.
  • Hypercubes - you create Hypercubes by matching 5 gems. When you you move the Hypercube into a colored gem it will destroy all of the gems of that color across the board.
  • Star Gems - you create Star gems by making a T or L shaped matched. When you match the Star gem it sends out beams of energy that destroy everything in that column AND row.
  • Supernova Gems - you create a Supernova gem by matching 6 gems. When you match the Supernova gem everything in the row and column of each gem matched will be destroyed.

[PS3T Would Like to Thank Tuffmuff & Olsen77 for this Roadmap]

Friendly Fire
Detonate a Flame Gem.

A flame gem becomes available once you line up 4 of the same colored gems in a row. Once it is available you simply need to detonate it by lining it up with two other gems of the same color.

See video for an example of how to create and detonate a flame gem:

Game in Hand
Unlock all 8 game modes in Bejeweled 3.

There are a total of 8 modes in Bejeweled 3. Four of the modes are immediately available from the start. The other 4 modes have to be unlocked by completing certain tasks in the first four modes.

  • Classic Mode - available immediately
  • Zen Mode - available immediately
  • Quest Mode - available immediately
  • Lightning Mode - available immediately
  • Butterflies Mode - You must get to level 5 in Zen Mode to unlock this mode. You don’t have to beat level 5, just get there.
  • Diamond Mine Mode - You must complete 4 of the quests in the first relic portion of quest mode. Essentially once you’ve obtained the first relic this mode will unlock. (see Relics Revealed for detailed quest mode information)
  • Ice Storm Mode - Reach a score of 100,000 in Lightning Mode to unlock this mode
  • Poker Mode - Reach Level 5 in Classic Mode to unlock this mode. You don’t have to beat level 5, just get there.
Skull Crusher
Destroy a skull in Poker mode.

You first have to unlock this mode by reaching level 5 in Classic Mode. See Game in Hand for more information.

Poker consists of making hands based on the colored gems you match. Each time you match up 3 of the same gem color you receive a card for that color. You can create the following hands similar to those in poker:

  • Pair: two cards of the same gem color
  • Spectrum: every card is different color gem
  • 2 pair: two sets of two cards of any gem color
  • 3 of a kind: three cards of the same gem color
  • Full house: three cards of the same gem color and two cards of the same gem color
  • 4 of a kind: four cards of the same gem color
  • Flush: all five cards of the same gem color

Randomly a skull will appear in your scorecard. The skull will indicate that you can’t create a certain type of hand. If you do you chance losing the game and your score. You can destroy a skull by creating other hands and accumulating enough points to remove it from the score card.

See video for an example of destroying the skull in poker:

Diamond Miner
Reach a depth of 200m or lower in a Diamond Mine game. (2)

In Diamond Mine you need to match gems that are against the ground to destroy it and unlock gold etc. Be aware that horizontal matches will destroy 3 or more spaces on the ground while vertical matches only destroy one. Focus on horizontal matches.

In order to reach 200m you need to essentially get to level 10 of Diamond Mine. There is a line on the grid and you need to destroy all of the rock below that line to progress the level and get additional time. Each time you destroy all of the rock below the line you’ll dig 20m more down.

Cold Feat
Get a x5 multiplier in Ice Storm.

Ice will randomly travel up the board in this mode. You need to match gems vertically to completely knock the ice in that column down. Making matches horizontally will stall the ice but not completely knock it down. If ice reaches the top you have a small window of time to destroy it before it freezes over the whole board.

As you make matches a tank to the left of the screen fills. Each time you completely fill the tank it will knock down all of the ice on the grid and you’ll receive a multiplier. You need to fill the tank 5 times to get the x5 multiplier and the trophy.

Butterfly Guardian
Save 100 butterflies in a Butterflies game. (1)

You need to save 100 butterflies in one game of Butterflies. Each match you make will move the available butterflies up one spot on the board. If they reach the top the spider gets them and you get a game over. You have to save 100 before any of them reach the top.

You have to pay attention to the color of the butterfly and where it’s headed. Sometimes it may be headed directly into a match. If this is the case continue playing off of other butterflies and allow that one to travel into the match.

Match them as soon as possible. The closer they get to the top the less likely you’ll find a match and the more likely they are to reach the top. Don’t forget to be aware of all of the butterflies on the board. As you’re working on one, two or more could appear and you could miss matches on those. Keep at it until you’ve saved 100. Takes patience.

Elite Gem Wielder
Complete one of the Elite Bejeweled 3 badges.

There are 5 elite badges. You only have to fulfill the requirements for one. They are as follows:

  • Annihilator: Match 2 Hypercubes together. Easiest done in Diamond Mine mode as you're only given 4 different colored gems to work with. There is a higher probability of creating Hypercubes. You can also try this in Zen mode as there is no time limit.
  • Heroes Welcome: Complete Quest Mode 100%. You must complete all 8 game modes for each of the 5 relics. Remember you only need to complete 4 to unlock a relic but you must beat all 8 (total of 40) for this badge.
  • Levelord: Reach Level 10 in Classic mode.
  • Superstar: Create a Supernova Gem by lining up six Gems in a row. Easiest done in Diamond Mine mode as you're only given 4 different colored gems to work with. There is a higher probability of creating Supernovas. You can also try this in Zen mode as there is no time limit.
  • Top 40: Reach a Bejeweled Rating of 40
Lightning Storm
Get a x5 multiplier in a Lightning game.

In Lightning mode there are time gems that appear (+5, +10) that add seconds to your overall time. As you match these they are added to the left of the screen in your time extend tank. When the timer at the top reaches zero your tank depletes and you’re given additional time to play. Each time your timer tank depletes you’re awarded with a multiplier. You need to empty the tank a total 4 times to reach the x5 multiplier.

Reaching x4 is relatively easy and the hard part gets to x5. The amount of time you’re awarded becomes smaller and smaller and that last stretch is difficult. Just be quick and focus on matching those time gems.

Supercharged
Detonate 2 Star Gems in one move.

This one is really dumb luck. To make a Star Gem, you must connect two rows of three of the same gem (basically, make an L, T, or + shape). Once you have one, you’ll obviously need to make a second Star Gem. Here’s where it gets tricky. You’ll need to manipulate the Star Gems into place without detonating them (meaning, no special gems used to create lines next to it and no using them to connect other lines). You need the two Star Gems to be in either the same row or column. Once you have that, you can detonate one of the Gems (making sure to keep it in the same row and column). The Star Gem sets destroy every gem in its row and column.

Blazing Speed
Obtain Blazing Speed in a Lightning game. (1)

In lightning mode you have a speed meter. It starts at 200 and each time you quickly make a match it adds to your score. Once that score hits 1000 a new meter becomes available and this is Blazing Speed mode.

Getting 1000 points is difficult. You need to be extremely quick and make matches near flawlessly. The meter resets very quickly so if you stall for too long it’ll go all the way down.

Relics Revealed
Unlock all 5 relics in Quest mode.

For each relic 8 quests are available. In order to unlock a relic you must complete 4 of those 8 quests. It doesn’t matter which you do. I’d recommend focusing on the 4 games you’re best at - though they don’t all repeat in each relic level. See the following for the 8 available quests for each of the 5 relics:

RELIC 1

  • Butterflies:
You have to match 15 butterflies or release them with special gems. If any of the butterflies reach the top the game is over.
  • Gold Rush:
You have to mine 5 gold nuggets before time runs out. At the bottom of the board there is an area filled with rocks. You need to match gems at the bottom of the board so that they release the gold.
  • Alchemy:
You need to turn the entire grid to gold before the time runs out. You do this by matching gems horizontally to fill in the rows and matching gems vertically to fill in the columns.
  • Stratamax:
You need to clear 120 gems in 20 or fewer moves.
  • Balance:
You need to match 15 red gems and 15 blue gems. You must match them evenly though. If you match a set of red gems you’ll need to quickly match a set of blue gems otherwise it will be out of balance, the weight will drop to the end of the board and you’ll get a game over.
  • Avalanche:
When you first begin the board will be missing quite a few gems. Every time you make a move the board will fill with some gems. You need to match 80 gems before the grid fills.
  • Buried Treasure:
