Introduction:
If you're looking to platinum Battlefield: Bad Company, then be prepared for the long haul because this one is quite the grind. The difficulty does not come from the single player portion of the game, but more from the multiplayer. The hardest online trophies that you will need in order to platinum BF:BC include earning all 120 online awards, many of which will have to be boosted. You will also need to amass a total of 10,002 kills online which is no easy feat since the online player pool is dwindling, leaving only BF:BC's best players. And if it wasn't already hard enough, there are no private matches meaning that boosting is not exactly a walk in the park. It will take many hours and many frustrating boosting sessions to achieve this platinum, but if you're determined then it's very possible to claim this prestigious platinum as your own.
Walkthrough:
Step 1: Getting started with the online portion
I would recommend jumping straight into the online portion of the game since this is where you will be doing the majority of the work. For the first few games, just focus on learning the controls and the general mechanics of the gameplay. The majority of the online trophies will come naturally as you work towards the 10,002 kills.
While you are getting familiar with the game, there are a few easy trophies that you can obtain. After completing your first match, you will achieve the "Get me started" trophy. Another easy trophy is "With My Devil Dogs" which can be obtained by simply inviting a friend to the match. "Catch the 'Bad' Moment" is also another straightforward trophy which you can get by pressing the button on the D-pad three times. Be sure to wait around ten seconds between each press. After you press it three times, this trophy will unlock.
If you are playing on a map with a helicopter such as 'Oasis', 'End of the Line', 'Crossing Over', 'Par for the Course', etc, then you can get the "Darwin's Parachute" trophy. If you are playing on a map that has boats such as 'Oasis' or 'End of the Line,' then you can also work on the "Vehikill" trophy. One last trophy that you can get early on is "There is no I in squad". The best way to get it is play a large map like 'Oasis', 'Par for the Course', or 'End of the Line'. Find a good place to hide away from the enemy and have a friend join you and keep having him spawn on you until you get the trophy.
Trophies you will unlock after completing this step:
Get Me Started With My Devil Dogs Catch The Bad Moment Darwin's Parachute Vehikill There is no I in squad
Step 2: Online Awards & 10,002 kills
Once you begin to feel comfortable with the game, you can start trying for the awards.
There are three different types of awards in BF:BC - Trophies, Patches and Wildcards.
Trophies typically require "X number of kills with Y weapon" and are the easiest type of awards to obtain. You'll most likely achieve most, if not all, of these through normal gameplay.
Patches basically require a combination of Trophy awards to unlock. Most patches aren't too hard to obtain, but there are some exceptions.
Wildcards are the hardest awards to obtain. These require you to complete impressive feats within the game such as getting 52 kills in a single match, killing 5 enemies within 2 seconds, 15 grenade kills in a single round, etc. I've linked the full list of awards at the bottom of this post. Be sure to also check out the BF:BC Trophy Boosting thread that I've linked in order to learn how to properly boost. I also highly recommend having a headset as proper communication will make boosting go much more smoothly.
While going for the awards, you will also be getting kills towards the 10,002 trophy "Beans Bullets Bandages". A good method to get this trophy without becoming extremely bored with the tediousness of it is to set a certain number of kills to reach each day. The more kills you get each day, the faster you will reach 10,002. I would recommend getting at least 200 kills every day, although this will obviously vary from day to day. It doesn't matter how you decide to go about doing it, but having some kind of goal to reach each day will make the grind much more tolerable. Another good way to lessen the tediousness is to play with someone who is also going for the platinum, because playing with a friend is more enjoyable than playing by yourself. You can also turn getting the 10,002 kills into a friendly competition with someone you know which is also good way to motivate you to continue getting kills.
When I was going for the 10,002 kills, my class of choice was Assault. The guns in that class were powerful and accurate which is what I preferred. The Assault Class also has the auto-injector which can be very useful since it is used to replenish your health. Choosing which class to use mostly comes down to personal preference. If you like sniping, then go ahead and snipe and if you like Shotguns then feel free to use them. Each class has its good and bad points - just be smart about which class would be best for the job so that you can maximize your efficiency.
Trophies you will unlock after completing this step:
General of the Army Beans Bullets Bandages I Am Bad Company! Ooh Rah Colonel Master Sargeant Specialist Drive By Be The Best Get The Dog! Dog Owner! Leatherneck Never Used A Door Forest Ranger
Step 3: Completing the singleplayer campaign & finding all collectibles
If you are getting tired of going for the online trophies, then it's time to get started on the campaign. Since the difficulty trophies do NOT stack, you will have to play through the campaign twice. Once on Hard and then again on Normal. If you've been following the Road Map thus far, then you should already be familiar with the game and so I recommend starting the campaign on Hard. If you've ever beaten other FPS games on the hardest difficulty, then you will have no trouble with this - just take things carefully and you'll get through it. Many of the campaign trophies will come naturally so don't go too far out of your way to obtain the missable ones if you're having trouble with them. You can always get these on your second playthrough anyway.
As for the collectibles, just follow the Gold Bar and Weapon Guide that I've linked below and you won't have any problems finding everything.
Important things to remember during your Hard playthrough
The auto-injector is your best friend, the use of this tool can be the difference between life and death. Try to keep your health above 60%, if it falls below that then use the auto-injector.
Make good use of cover, but always have a backup plan in case that cover gets demolished.
Trigger control. When taking out enemy targets, it's important to maintain control especially when firefights begin to get a bit intense. A few well placed shots are all it takes to eliminate an enemy, so don't go spray crazy.
The direct route is not always the best route. The nice thing about BF:BC is that the campaign is very open, leaving you many different paths to reach the same objective.
Make good use of C4. C4 is pretty abundant in BF:BC so don't be afraid to use it. If you're in an area where you think it's a good possibility that a vehicle will arrive after you complete an objective, then set up C4 around the most likely place the vehicle with drive through.
Take your time, it's not a race.
Trophies you will unlock after completing this step:
Here is your DD-214 Gold Digger Capitalist pigs, very nice Clean Sweep Killer on the Loose Check My Grill I Love Gold Half Way Thru You Found it You Keep it Russia? Cart Wheels Say goodbye to the gold! Where are they going so fast? Action, not words! Staying Alive Death From Above Hypochondriac Home Wrecker Manic Lumberjack The Anti-Mechanic Been There, Drove That One in a Million On top of the world
Step 4: Completing the singleplayer campaign on Normal & miscellaneous trophy cleanup
Now that you've beaten the campaign on 'Hard' and have found all of the collectibles, you can then just rush through it once more on 'Normal' and pick up any miscellaneous trophies you may have missed such as "Manic Lumberjack" or "Home Wrecker".
Trophies you will unlock after completing this step:
Sir, yes sir! Let's take that boat Hold on! He might come in handy You and what army? Not even a nugget! Always get paid in gold bars
Complete one mission without dying (any difficulty)
This trophy isn't too hard. There is a good possibility that you will unlock this trophy during the 'Welcome To Bad Company' chapter. However if you are struggling with this trophy, then simply play the first chapter on 'Easy' and use the auto-injector regularly.
Staying Alive Tips:
Watch out for Red barrels. Use these to take out groups of enemies, but be careful not to stand too close as they can cause some serious damage to your health.
If you run low on ammo, look in your minimap for ammo symbols which look like three bullets lined up - these indicate an ammo box.
If you need weapons/tools, look in your minimap for tool/weapon symbols, which are marked by a large X - these indicate weapons and tools.
If you've played various games in the Shooter genre. then you shouldn't have any trouble completing BF:BC's campaign on Normal. Just make use of the tips I've listed in the Road Map such as using the auto-injector, taking things slowly and carefully, and controlling your firing.
The "Hard" difficulty setting on BF:BC isn't overly difficult, but that's not to say it's a walk in the park either. Just focus on taking things carefully - use cover, take out enemy vehicles quickly, and always try to take the safe route. Remember to keep your health above 60% by using the auto-injector when necessary. All of the chapters are pretty similar in difficulty and there isn't really one that stands out as being considerably harder than the others. Once you get the hang of it, you shouldn't have any holdups.

This trophy is hard to miss since you spend the majority of the 'Air Force One' chapter in the helicopter. Whenever you see enemy units, switch to the gunner seat by pressing and take them out from this position. Doing this will prevent Sweetwater from taking your kills when you are in the pilot seat. ‘Air Force One’ is the only chapter that you fly a helicopter in, so if you somehow missed the trophy, then just replay the chapter and you’ll unlock it in around 15 minutes.
This one will come naturally, however if you don't feel like waiting then just hop in a tank and blast through walls with the main cannon until the trophy unlocks. Any kind of explosive such as C4, RPGs, Tank shells, etc can destroy walls. I got this trophy around the ‘Crossing Over’ chapter during my first playthrough.
Alternative Method:
If you need to grind this trophy then play the ‘Welcome To Bad Company’ chapter. Around 20 minutes into the chapter, you will reach a checkpoint where you have to use artillery to take out enemy vehicles. Instead of taking out the vehicles, focus on destroying every building. Once all of the buildings have been destroyed, pause the game and restart the chapter from the last checkpoint and just repeat the above steps. It should take no more than six repeats to unlock the trophy.
You will almost certainly get this trophy while you're playing through the campaign on 'Hard'. If you don't get it after two playthroughs though, then just play a chapter on 'Easy' and repeatedly use the auto-injector until the trophy unlocks.
This one should come naturally like the "Home Wrecker" trophy. If you don't want to wait though, then hop in a tank and wreak havoc on a forest until it unlock. The chapter 'Par for the Course' is a good chapter to get this trophy on. The trophy doesn’t state how many trees specifically contribute to a "small forest,", but my estimate is 200. I unlocked this trophy on the ‘Crash and Grab’ chapter during my first playthrough.

If you need to grind this trophy, then play the ‘Welcome To Bad Company’ chapter. Around 20 minutes into the chapter you will reach a checkpoint where you have to use artillery to take out enemy vehicles. Instead of taking out the vehicles, focus on destroying trees. Once most of the trees have been destroyed, pause the game and restart the chapter from the last checkpoint and just repeat the above steps. It should take around 10 repeats before the trophy unlocks.
50 vehicles may seem like a lot but it will come during the course of the campaign. Use RPGs, C4, or the Laser Designator to destroy vehicles. Make sure that an enemy is inside of a vehicle before you destroy it otherwise it will NOT count towards the trophy. The trophy will unlock by the end of your first playthrough.
Alternative Method:
If you need to grind this trophy then play the ‘Welcome To Bad Company’ chapter. Around 20 minutes into the chapter you will reach a checkpoint where you have to use artillery to take out enemy vehicles. Take out all of the enemy vehicles. Once you complete the objective, quickly pause the game and restart from the last checkpoint, otherwise you will have to start the chapter from the very beginning. It should take anywhere from 8 – 15 repeats to unlock the trophy.
The best chapter to attempt this trophy is the final chapter 'Ghost Town'. The best strategy for getting this trophy is to find some cover, take out the Laser Designator and lock on to the helicopter. To lock on to a target with the Laser Designator, hold and hold to begin the lock. Once you have a full lock you will hear a voice confirming it, and after a few seconds you will take control of the missile. To control the missile, move the Right Analog Stick. It may take a few attempts, so don't give up. This trophy can be quite frustrating to try and get on 'Hard' so I would recommend doing it on 'Normal' or 'Easy'.
Note: For practice, you can lock on to empty enemy vehicles with the Laser Designator and practice controlling the missile.
This trophy isn't too hard. Just keep an eye out for boxes inside or around buildings that contain weapons and be sure to pick up any weapons from enemy soldiers that you haven't found yet. There are 29 weapon collectibles in total. Here is a guide by mistical showing the locations: Weapon and Gold Bar Locations
This trophy is the same idea as the Clean Sweep trophy, except that Gold Bars are usually in places you wouldn't normally look. Just keep an eye out for the boxes and it won't be hard. There are 30 gold bars in total, 5 on each chapter with the exception of the ‘Welcome to Bad Company’ chapter. Use this Gold Bar guide made by misticalto help: Weapon and Gold Bar Locations
An easy trophy, you will unlock this trophy during the 'Crash and Grab' chapter. After you rescue your team during the 'Crash and Grab' chapter, climb up the staircase to the belltower and the trophy will unlock.
This will be one of the first online trophies you'll unlock. Just join a match either by going to Quick Match or Custom Match, and play until the end. It doesn’t matter if you join mid-match, you will still unlock the trophy at the end.
This will come naturally along the way to 10,002 kills. If you can't wait though, then just hop in a tank and destroy as many buildings as possible and it will unlock after several matches. 'End of the Line' is a good map to do this on.
This will come naturally along the way to 10,002 kills. If you can't wait though, then just hop in a tank and shoot or run over trees and it will unlock after several matches. 'Par for the Course' is a good map with lots of trees to help you unlock this trophy.
This is an easy trophy, just invite a friend into a match. To invite a friend to your squad, go to Multiplayer > Custom Match and press which will open the invite window. Then just select a friend to invite. Once your friend is in your squad, both of you must play until the end of a match. If the trophy doesn't unlock, then trying playing a match from start to finish and it will unlock.
This one can be a real pain. The best way to get it is play a large map like 'Oasis', 'Par for the Course', or 'End of the Line'. Find a good place to hide away from the enemy and have a friend join you and keep having him spawn on you until you get the trophy. Make sure that your back is NOT against a wall otherwise your friend will be unable to spawn on you.
This trophy isn't too hard to get so don't worry about it too much. Just switch to your knife in close quarters and look for enemies to knife. To kill an enemy with the knife, switch to it and execute a quick slash at an enemy. It doesn’t matter where you hit them on their body as any location is an instant kill. An easy way to get knife kills is to find enemy snipers and sneak up on them.
Note: ‘Unique Dog Tags’ means that you need to collect dog tags from 50 different PSN profiles in order for the trophy to unlock.
This trophy's difficulty is dependent on how good you are at the multiplayer. Since BF:BC is quite old now the amount of players is thinning, leaving mostly the really good players left which makes this trophy harder to obtain. Don't expect to get it during your first couple of games. The more you play the better you'll get, so keep doing your best and you'll unlock it. Make sure to go after objectives like capturing flags because that will make it much easier to obtain. Tanks can be very effective at getting lots of points very quickly, so utilize them.
Some Point Notes:
Headshot = +5 points
Def Objective = +3 points
Capture Objective = +30 points
Avenger/Savior = +5 points
You LOSE points by damaging or killing your teammates.
Easy trophy, just keep playing and it will unlock once you reach 630xp which takes around 5 games to reach. See General of the Army for more information.
Just keep playing and it will unlock once you reach 4000xp which takes around 35 games at the most to reach. See General of the Army for more information.
Just keep playing and it will unlock once you reach 24200xp which should take between 150 - 200 games to reach. See General of the Army for more information.
Just keep playing games and it will unlock once you reach 37000xp which should be somewhere from 250 - 300 games to reach. As you continue to get better at the multiplayer, you will accumulate more and more points each game. Be sure to play for the objective instead of only focusing on kills.
This trophy will come in time and should certainly unlock whilst you work towards the 10,002 kills. Just use lots of tanks, jeeps, or helicopters and you'll have it in no time.
One of the easiest online trophies. To use the image system, enter a match, spawn and hit the button on the D-pad and it will take a screenshot. Wait a few seconds and press on the D-pad again. Do this a total of three times and the trophy will unlock.
Probably the funniest trophy in the game. Just enter a match and find a helicopter. Once you're inside, fly up as high as you can and then jump out. If you flew high enough, then the trophy will unlock around the same time you reach the ground in your "parachute".
This is the hardest trophy in BF:BC. The first post in the boosting thread explains how to properly hold boosting sessions for this if you wish to do this. Many of the awards can be done legitimately, primarily the Trophy awards and Patches. However, around half of the Wildcards are almost impossible to get legitimately so boosting is recommended.
This is a very time consuming trophy. Depending on how quickly you get kills, you should unlock this trophy around 150 hours of gameplay. As you rank up, you will receive credits to unlock various weapons and tools. Weapons are characterized by 5 different stats.
Accuracy
Rate of Fire
Clip Size
Damage
Handling
The higher the stat the better. The first tool that you should unlock with credits is the auto-injector, known as ‘Life-2’ at the unlock screen. This will be your best friend during the road to 10,002 kills.
Ways to help lessen the tediousness of 10,002 kills:
Listen to music while playing.
Watch TV while playing.
Play with friends.
Take frequent breaks.
Try different gameplay strategies to keep things interesting.
Break the 10,002 kills down into a longer time span of several months.
Doing any of those ideas listed can really help keep you motivated while you work towards 10,002 kills.
