Point Counter-Point Trophy in Batman: Arkham Origins

Complete Deathstroke without failing a single counter

    How to unlock Point Counter-Point

    *Missable*
This trophy can be extremely frustrating. Believe it or not, it is probably easier to get this on your NG+ playthrough despite the lack of counter icons, as to make the method I will outline below more effective, you will need to have the upgrade that gives you combo moves at x5 combo rather than x8, but this is still possible to pull off without it.

This method consists of using the batclaw slam (+ then ) over and over. When you get a combo move, do a takedown (+). If you hit him too many times consecutively, he will counter you with a move that doesn't have counter icons even on normal, and can be difficult to counter. In addition to the batclaw slams, I would occasionally jump over him and hit him just once.

After taking a bit of damage from him, he'll stun you then jump at you and spam you with strikes which you must spam counters in return. Then you'll be able to beat him down. The second phase should be treated in the same way, except if he hits you you'll need to hit counter twice with good timing. Also, Deathstroke may attach a remote claw to you and a propane tank will be launched towards you which you will need to counter before impact. Then the same stun sequence will repeat, and go into the final stage. Still keep the same tactic, but if he counters you you will need counter 3 times in response. Next there is one final stun sequence before the fight ends. If you didn't fail a counter, you'll get this.

A massive thanks to Obie who brought this tactic to my attention. I didn't get hit once with this method. If you don't get this the first time you do it, you still have NG+ and IATN mode to do it.

  • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oEgLEBsi7uo You will fight against Deathstroke during a story mission, relatively early in the game. Everytime he attacks, you must press triangle to counter. Also attack Deathstroke with Batman's normal strike. Doing so might initiate a QTE where you need to press the counter-button when it's displayed on the screen. If you press the button too early, or too late, your counter attack will fail and you will get hit. In case you are being hit, pause the game and choose "restart". The entire fight will start from the beginning and you can try again.
  • I found that the L1+Triangle/ Square (batclaw beatdown) worked good for some quick damage, also you use L1+Triangle to bring Deathstroke to you easily when your combo fill up for a O+Triangle combo which does good damage as well.
  • Can you get hit by normal attacks and get the QTE all right and still get the trophy ? Like if I get hit 1 time but I complete all the QTE is it possible ?
  • Can i save? Or do you have to complete everything without quit?
  • If you don't mind the fight taking a while you could just time your counters and then hit him once or twice with a normal strike like PowerPyx said. It's pretty effective.
  • if you get hit with the barrel does it ruin your chance for the trophy?
  • @ Comment #6, I would highly suspect so, but I plan on uploading a video with commentary that clarifies, what you need to do to avoid getting hit. On that video, I happened to be lucky enough to where Deathstroke didn't use the Remote Claw on me, but if it happen, just be ready to counter that when it happens. Plus you CAN use "restart" in the fight, just make sure you're not hit by him, before the fight finishes period. I've actually used the restart method and it DOES work.

  • Recently I just made a video the has some commentary that should be pretty helpful to get this one plus this also works for Shiva, but the only difference between this and her is that you MUST have the shock gloves, but the logic is the same. Anyway here's the link and I hope you find it useful. Also if you got a channel, if you can drop a like ONLY if it's useful to you so it's easier to find. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TCzVaQtZDdI
  • Starting a new game on easy takes about 45-60 minutes if you breeze through the main story missions (in case you miss it and want to do it on easy).
  • There is an easier method: After Deathstroke loose his mask, stay away from him and start using Batclaw (L2 + triangle). He will avoid most of the time the Batclaw but the goal is to make it use the claw remote. Then, after the propane tank, get closer to him pressing X, X and use L1 + Triangle / Square (beatdown Batclaw) and soon after when he is stiil on the ground, hit just once and use X, X to get away from him (if you're already close enough of him after propane tank, use L1 + Triangle / Square-Batclaw beatdown without having to push X, X to approach). Always try to stay away from him using the Batclaw. If he gets caught by the Batclaw, hit him only once and use X, X again to stay away from him. Thus, you will not have the risk of being caught in a sequence in which you will have to pre
  • to press triangle at the right time.
  • I tried every method out there, after half an hour or so I just waited patiently with his counters en pressed triangle at the right moment. Don't mash it frustatingly like I did in the beginning and you'll get this in your first play through.
  • To me, I got this trophy on my 2nd try. It's actually easy but when something happens like you evade over, redirect Deathstroke and keep hitting him. Might not make sense but it's my only tip.
  • Getting this trophy is actually MUCH simpler than as it is described here - not easy, necessarily (as it can be time consuming and annoying you mess up), but simpler. The important thing is that there is NO attack that Deathstroke does that can't be countered - ALL ATTACKS CAN BE COUNTERED. The original post says that if you punch too much, Deathstroke will do an attack that doesn't have a prompt - this is incorrect. What is happening is that if you press the counter button too early (Triangle on PS3, Y on Xbox 360), then you failed the counter, and it doesn't show a counter prompt. It is likely that when you see him attacking, you immediately hit counter, which is a natural instinct - fight that instinct, though, and wait to see the counter prompt. You know how every now and then te
  • Previous post got cut off - in short, if you wait when Deathstroke is attacking, you will ALWAYS be prompted to counter. If you hit the button too early, no prompt is shown. So, mash the attack button all you want, but don't ever hit Triangle/Y unless you are prompted. There will always be a prompt if you wait - I promise : )
  • The easiest way is to jump over him, hit once, repeat. Do a takedown when you can. Nothing hard about it.
  • Works well also in NG+ Hard difficulty. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VIjlkYZiorA
  • It is possible to farm enough XP on your first playthrough before you get to the Final Offer to buy the 5x Combo upgrade. Destroy Enigma relays and do combat challenges and work on the Dark Knight Challenges. This will help you get this trophy on your first playthrough.
  • Wow, this is the first "hard" trophy I really enjoyed! Just be sure to not preas triangle too soon.
  • Damn, this was pretty annoying.. I tried in 4h in straight, then i finally got it :D
  • Honestly, my problem I was too fast to press counter in the QTE's. Once I slowed down my counters, worked like a charm. Just pay attention and wait for the QTE to slow down before countering. If you press too fast, you have to restart.
  • I can confirm that you HAVE TO AVOID the barrels too. I countered every slade move, but was hit by 2 barrels. Trophy didn't pop up.
  • Well, I did it on hard, so there was no icon telling me when to counter. However I used a safe tatic to avoid entering close combat. When the battle starts, press R2+Triangle then Square, jump over him and then R2+Triangle again and press square just 1 time, punching him 1 time, double X to get away and the R2+T again, punch one time, now stay away. You should be able to use a special move now, so do it before you lose the counter. Now he will avoid the batclaw, so stay away till he uses his claw, then R2+T again twice. Second phase starts, press O+Triangle to use a special move, then R2+T, then use another special, batclaw him again and STAY AWAY, same tatic as before, keep away till he uses his claw and than you can safely use yours. Pay atention for the barrels. 3rd phase starts and you just have to repeat phase 2 tatic, so imediatly use a special move, batclaw him and special again, keep distance till you have a chance to use the batclaw again. NEVER enter close combat, NEVER try punch him more than 1 time after using the batclaw move.
