It was my favourite minigame. Once you get the pointing system you can beat even higher level opponents. Just learn the cards. Ingame explanation is not that great but at least it shows you which card combinations give you what points. For more information check this or similar pages Hanafuda

Thanks I managed to get the hang of it, at least enough to muddle my way up to 10,000 against the intermediate guy anyway so I got Minigame Master trophy, although I have 1 more annoying minigame trophy to get: Break Ace

12/16 minigames with batting cages, koi-koi, karaoke and pool left.
I don't know why the batting cages in this game seem brutal compared to Yakuza 4. I really thought I would have an easier time with this one. Do I really need to hit 18/20 balls in the EASY game just to get the required score? Where's the bullseye? ![]() Either way, I finished golf. What an awful, awful game. And the shocking thing about it is that I had a +2 on a Par 3 hole and still ended up with a -6! ![]() If I learned anything about this game that might help anybody... Be wary of the position of the arrow. If the arrow is pointing in a certain direction, use the L3 view near the hole and position your marker slightly in the opposite direction to compensate for the drift of the ball. Sometimes even halving the power of the driver won't put you in that great of a position to land on the green or fairway. If you end up in the bunker or the rough, it's almost like wasting two strokes because they are so difficult to get out of. Always try to stay on the flattest surfaces. If halving your power still puts you on the rough, I suggest trying to hit the ball near the hole. I'd rather risk overshooting the goal than having to shoot from the rough. Put the hit indicator all of the way on the bottom of the golf ball before swinging and overshoot the "nice shot" line (to the right of it) a little bit to give the ball's trajectory a bit more arc, so when it lands it will bounce straight up and down rather than going forward. Holes 8 and 9 are really great for putting since the ground is completely flat. You don't have to worry about re-adjusting the alignment. The only thing you need to do is halve the power on the putter from 30 to 15 and calculate roughly how much force you will need to get it to the hole (should be less than 7). Don't apply too much pressure or the ball might ricochet off the inside of the cup and spin out. If you're on your game, you should be able to get to the flat putting areas on the 8th and 9th holes with two strokes to go. Folks, this is an EASY minus two points at the end of the game. If you manage to maintain or achieve a -3 score by the end of the 7th hole, you will be golden. I tend to play it safe on the 9th hole. I advise traveling along the fairway instead of trying to hit the ball over the water hazard (unless it's totally necessary because you need a -2 or something). There risk is too great of ending up in the bunker or incidentally in the water, especially if all you need is par or a birdie. It is VERY easy to birdie this hole, so refrain from doing anything silly. Even going all of the way around will net you a birdie and an easier surface to put on. If you do decide to risk hitting over the water hazard and straight toward the cup, you will more than likely end up in the bunker... and if you don't land in the bunker, the grass is very uneven. It's very, very tempting to want to use this shortcut, but you will probably end up regretting it if you do try it.

![]() I'm finally a mini-game master. Koi Koi is not an easy 10,000 tags. To be honest, I still don't even really know how to play it. For anybody who needs to play koi koi, leave the full moon and blossom (whatever they are) options on in the rules menu. 3 to 6 rounds are ideal to start off with. Try to pile up dregs, or regular cards, to build points. Always try to pile up bright cards. The sake cup is amazing. You only really ever need one good hand per round. If you have a good lead on the opponent and you aren't getting strong cards, try to pile up 10 dregs, 5 ribbons or seeds just to end the round without the opponent being able to score on you. There is so much about this game that never made sense to me and it still doesn't. ![]() As far as the piles on the screen go, I believe the one of the far left is the normal pile, so all the dregs you pick up go there, followed by the ribbons, seeds/animals and finally the bright cards. It's really a game where your opponent tries to steal cards from the table that will give you a winning combo and you must try to do the same. I'm still amazed at how I slugged through some of these games. The batting cages were honestly brutal. After playing extra hard mode, I managed to hit 20/20 homeruns on easy. The best tip I read is that Kazuma's stance changes when he's ready to hit the ball. What that really means is he will be swinging the bat around while the pitcher is warming up. When the ball is thrown and he's ready to hit it, the animation will stutter and that is the indication you're ready to go. I had good success logging the speed of the pitches in the extra hard game. My advice on that game is to watch the ball when the pitch is straight or a fast sinker. On curves and slow sinkers, watch for the stutter in the animation. Extra hard game throws: 1.) Straight - Fast 2.) Curve - Slow 3.) Sinker - Fast 4.) Straight - Slow 5.) Sinker - Fast 6.) Curve - Slow 7.) Sinker - Fast 8.) Sinker - Slow 9.) Curve - Fast 10.) Straight - Fast 11.) Straight - Fast/Medium 12.) Curve - Slow 13.) Curve - Fast 14.) Straight - Slow 15.) Straight - Fast 16.) Sinker - Slow 17.) Curve - Fast 18.) Sinker - Fast 19.) Sinker - Slow 20.) Straight - Fast I've heard the speed of the pitches varies, but every time I've played the extra hard game, the speeds have been the same. I got no tips for pool. I can't line up shots to save my life. Beating all of the players was purely a matter of dumb luck. I had better success lining up those ridiculous bank shots the computer likes to do more than trying to line it up in a straight line. The key to these games is perseverance. If you want it badly enough, you will get it. Seeing as how the ratio of people who unlocked this trophy compared to the amount of people who played the game is so low, I'm very proud of myself. What a wonderful birthday present.

Koi Koi was definitely one of my easier mini games. After I unlocked advanced mode, I beat the AI by 67-0 points on the first go (6030 tags).
If you see the AI hoarding the higher cards (sake cup, etc) just start hoarding dregs. It's so satisfying shooting down the AI's lead and not koi-ing on a single dregs win :P My first priority is getting the sake cup for the cherry blossom or gazing at the moon etc. Next priority is going for the red or blue poems, since they all combo for 5 points, and you only need 3 cards. Next priority are the 3-star high cards. If I missed out on any of those, I would directly aim for dregs to cut the AI's momentum, unless I was close to another combo. The 3 animals is a rare one but also nets a nice 5 points. Either way, winning 1 point is better than losing by 14+. Cee-lo I did in Ryukyu. Just get 10000 tags (NPCs max out at 10k tags), and bet 1 tag until you are the dealer. You should win big especially if you roll 1-1-1 or 4-5-6. After winning, leave and save. If you lose, just reload the game. Rinse repeat until you have had enough. I got 10 million Yen with Cee-lo. Pool I beat in a couple of hours. Expert mode cheats a bit in that you don't always shoot straight like the lower difficulties and Seiji has a knack for doing double bank combo shots. You have to be calm for this. Make sure the shots are lined up nicely, but if they somehow stray, that's just the AI cheating. Stick at it and you'll win eventually. Batting cage wasn't hard per se, but did take a bit of practice. I kept swinging too early a lot. On EX hard, I just remembered that ball 20, 11, 6 and 1 were the stingers. The others I could hit by timing with Kiryu's stance changing. You have to be quick on the 140+ km/h bowls. Golf wasn't too hard. I got -5 on my first try. I guess playing Hot Shots golf over the years helped. I think I was a bit lucky though, I had -3 on hole 9 and pulled off an 8 yard eagle for the -5. Darts, is similar to the batting cage. Once you get it, it's easy and you can complete it quickly. To throw straight, only pull down the right stick halfway, pause for a second or two and guide the stick back up to neutral. It'll hit anywhere you're aiming 95% of the time. Bowling is a joke, but only because of the fantastic tip on GFs. I got 211 on my first game including the Fowl play trophy. Just go all the way to the left of the lane and tap x twice quickly. Then go for 90-100 power and you should get a strike at least 80% of the time. Karaoke wasn't too difficult. Always play on hard and once you play a song a few times, you'll learn the timing and button presses and will be scoring 900+ easily. You don't have to be perfect to do it. UFO Catcher took a bit over an hour in all. Don't worry about money and keep going for the toys. I didn't have trouble on any of them really, but sometimes you have to get some toys out of the way first. Cho-Han I found frustrating. Just keep playing, I don't recommend going up against the house because it seems to cheat. Made a net loss on this but happy it was over. Blackjack / Poker Piss easy if you know how to play them. Blackjack I played it simple, betting 100 and keep hitting until you get 17. Basically the same way the dealer plays. I always chose to play against the house, and won 2000 and 3000 chips. I got 10k in poker with two hands, over 6k in one pot and over 4k in another. Roulette 500 chips on both red and black gets this done quick. Boxcelios stay to the right of the screen and mash X, not much else to it really. Mini-Game Master
