Max Scoville got a chance to see a behind-closed-doors presentation of the new XCOM: ENEMY UNKNOWN , and chat with the lead artist and lead producer Check out some of the new gameplay straight from the PAX EAST panel, and learn about some surprising influences of the game, including why the soldiers look like toys.

The original X-Com is my all-time favorite game, even almost 20 years later I sometimes just have to install and play it on my PC. I'm very excited with this new version, looks like the guys are finally getting the spirit of the game, unlike other mediocre clones that came before. Doesn't look like but even if this one sucks, they'll probably relaunch the original one in some way (PSOne Classic, maybe), and that alone woul be enough to me.

In the last year, that was sooo very confusing. Because 2k and Firaxis always work together normally, having both do an xcom title and both being totally different was odd. My mood was a rollercoaster ride. New Xcom - yay It's going to be a shooter - FUCK And it wasn't really clear until a few months ago that there will be two games.
