Building a portfolio

Hi, I'm planning to do Advertising and Graphic Design in University and need a portfolio. Though I won't be going University till a year or two, I really need to practice of developing from real life requests (such as Logos etc.) So I wanted to know if someone can give me some random requests or give me some other tips on making a portfolio (such as other things I could put into it)

I don't want the requests to be signatures or anything that you need because I'll still be fairly new and may not create excellent work. So if you would imagine a company, what they do and what they want I'd be most grateful ^^

I highly suggest, if portfolio work is something you're after, seeking a work placement with a company. It provides invaluable experience and shows a university you are committed to the course.

It also gives you a edge in that you are practising what you wish to study. It also shows potential employers that you have initiative.

No doubt people will leave requests for you here. But I'm sure they'll be local business' that don't mind finding work placement for a potential undergraduate.

I'm considering this next year, however I don't believe I'm that good at working with requests yet so I'll don't want to do voluntary work until I've had some experience which is why I posted here

so... you want someone to request that you make an advert (fake) for a company??

if so, ill give a request

Not an advert, maybe something like a Logo. Advertisements will take quite a while

ok, heres a logo you can redesign, my dad works for them. its a food company
