Fifty's Photo Theme: Opposites

We all know how fun Fifty's Photo Themes have been, and due to him being very busy lately, I have decided to fill in. In honor of his creating this idea the format will remain the same. The rules have not changed and anyone is welcome to participate!

Photo Theme: Opposites

Now since I have the ability to create the theme for this I thought we might try something a little bit different. Instead of a specific type of item name being provided for you to seek out and take creative pictures of, we will be using a concept this time. This will allow a bit more room to be creative in your photo. The concept for this theme will simply be "Opposites."

With this concept it will be up to your creative mind to consider what you want to photograph. Somewhere there simply needs to be some form of opposites represented by the photo or photos. Anything related to opposites that can be captured in a photograph should be considered. I would like each person to submit no more than 2 photos (per each of your entries) but try to fit the concept into one image if possible.

Add-on Game: Guess the Title

Another fun add-on to this photo theme will involve the title of the image. Many of us forget that the title of the work is a part of the artist's creativity and titles often help express what the artist is attempting to convey in the image. This time around I would also like to request that everyone submit a title to their image. The "title" should be realistically related in some way and use as few words as possible. In other words, a "title" and not a sentence describing the photo!

Here is how the add-on fun will work. Everyone submitting a photo should also submit their title to me by PM. Do NOT post the title in the thread. This will allow each of you to guess at the other submitted image titles here in the thread after each submitted entry. I will include these guesses at the title beneath the person's submitted image. Later, I will reveal all the real titles (in a spoiler bar) so we can see how the guessing went compared to the artist's real title. Please try to include your title guesses in as few posts as possible so as not to clutter the thread.

No Google images, or digital photo manipulation. This is just straight point n' shoot. Use whatever camera you have available (cellphone, webcam) Quality does not matter, only originality. I will select a theme and then everyone goes out and takes a real photo of their interpretation of said theme. Here are some examples;

Sunsets
History
Water
Nature

None of these scream "Take this shot, here!" The most specific one is probably the sunset, but it doesn't matter how you take the shot. It could be a photo of a typical sunset on the horizon, or just the sun hiding behind a building, or even an eclipse. Same thing goes for the "Water" theme. You could take a photo of Niagara Falls, a drip falling from a tap, or a park water fountain. You can interpret the theme anyway you want. The main idea is to get your creative juices going.

After the photos have been posted there will be a short discussion about which photos we like and why. Again, there are no winners or losers. Positive comments only.

A Simple Example:

My entry is listed as the first one and clearly shows two light bulbs. Maybe I still have light bulbs on the brain from the "bright idea" redesign a couple weeks ago, but I'm breaking out the bulbs again. In this submission one might at first notice that one bulb is lit and the other is not. This may have you thinking the simple solution to a name guess might have something to do with light and dark (two opposites displayed in the picture). Well don't guess this because I already entered it as an example guess AND I'm going to tell you right now that this title guess would be wrong. Light and dark is not the title or necessarily the artistic intention of the photo. I'm crafty enough to be more creative than that! So knowing this...what is your guess?

Who Can Enter/Event Length

Entries are open to all forum users and the time limit we are looking at for entry and discussion is approximately two weeks. Obviously the sooner you get your entry in the longer we will have to discuss your picture so please think about giving us some time to make guesses at the title. Also, invite anyone that may be interested to participate.

Looks great KD. Nice work. I love what you've done with it, adding a concept and title is a great way to grow this overall thread.

Would you be able to provide an example for the theme? I think I know what you want, but an example would help clarify it for me.

Hey Krypt. Got your message and sure, I'd like to take part in this. Was looking forward to another photo theme to happen (now's the perfect time). As Fifty has said, I think I know what you mean, but just to be sure I understand completely, a bit of more info or an example even would help. I mean, I can almost assume it's like putting two of the same item beside each other (being at opposite ends) and photographing it (while making it not so obvious on what it actually is) or whatever else (ying/yang style feature even?) D:

If the deadline is lenient enough, I'll be glad to participate. Like the others, I would like to see an example unless the theme is supposed to be vague to let the users' creativity flow.
