If I see it posted anywhere else, action will be taken unless full credit is given.  Unfinished Swan Collectibles The purpose of this guide is to detail the locations of both the balloons and the storybook pages in The Unfinished Swan on a Chapter-by-Chapter basis. These are required for the Balloonist and Page Turner trophies. To “obtain” a collectible, you must shoot either the balloon or the gold letter with a paintball. There are a total of 64 balloons and 19 storybooks in this game. This guide can either be used on your first playthrough in conjunction with my trophy guide, or just to pick up the few collectibles you’re still missing. Note that I have tried my utmost to avoid any spoilers, but obviously some descriptions require references to contextual level geometry. Without further ado, here is the guide! All screenshots were taken by myself on my Vita. Chapter 1: The Garden Stage 1: The Statue Garden Balloon 1/3: When you drop down from the rooftop and arrive in the garden filled with different animal sculptures, find the sculpture of the pig. Behind it is a low wall, and the balloon is tied to a branch of the tree attached to this wall. Note: The balloon is white, and so invisible on the screenshot below, but keep firing paintballs and you'll get it. http://i.imgur.com/cNysuAZ.jpg Balloon 2/3: Go behind the two staircases at the centre of the courtyard. Once you reach the back wall, look left and you should see a door with a crown symbol above it. Go through this door to the room at the end and look up slightly. You should see a red balloon. http://i.imgur.com/sHBBsLa.jpg Balloon 3/3: This one is easily obtained and right in your path. Go up the right of the two staircases, and this red balloon should be hanging on the banister near the top. http://i.imgur.com/vY67SxL.jpg *NOTE: Once you have this balloon, pause the game and go to the “Toys” menu. Purchase the “Balloon Radar” toy to make finding balloons a lot easier! (PS3) Unfortunately, on PS4 and Vita you need to finish the story before the Balloon Radar becomes available.* Storybook Page 1/1: The first page is one of the easiest as it is right in front of you. At the top of the two staircases, follow the balcony round until you see swan footprints and a breakable wall to the left. Instead of going through the wall, go straight ahead and shoot the golden letter “T”. http://i.imgur.com/S5GoDKg.jpg Stage 2: The Watchtower Balloon 1/2: As soon as the stage starts, jump down from the balcony. Go to your right and paint the area until you find the chimney. Floating inside it should be this red balloon. http://i.imgur.com/xpMMAg4.jpg Storybook Page 1/1: Once you go through the first room and you see your first shadow, you will see the golden “T” on the wall. You can’t really miss it. http://i.imgur.com/1hdleWP.jpg Balloon 2/2: When you get outside and see water behind a pane of glass, you have to turn left to carry on the level. However, turn right and you should see a balloon floating behind the glass. Simply fire over the glass to hit this balloon. http://i.imgur.com/YOSkbTK.jpg Stage 3: The First Castle Balloon 1/4: A little way into the level you should see an entrance leading into the King’s workshop. Don’t enter, but instead turn around and walk to the end of the balcony. You should see this red balloon hiding behind the buildings. Jump and fire to hit it. http://i.imgur.com/SCcN5ev.jpg Balloon 2/4:Once inside the workshop, look to the left and climb up the golden ladder. You should see a model of the city with a miniature red balloon attached to it. http://i.imgur.com/7yoO4YC.jpg Storybook Page 1/2: Once you enter the maze, take the second right and you should see a golden “T” on the wall in front of some golden swan footprints. http://i.imgur.com/GY8iMmP.jpg Balloon 3/4: Head on past this storybook and you should arrive at a statue of a hand holding a paintbrush. Right behind this statue is the third balloon. http://i.imgur.com/B7XO4I2.jpg Storybook Page 2/2: Right at the end of the level, you will go up some stairs to reach the hot air balloon. At the top of the stairs, look right and you should see a golden “T” above a bench. http://i.imgur.com/omrH8RM.jpg Balloon 4/4: The final balloon of this level is another easy one. Go up to the telescope to the left of the hot air balloon and look left. This red balloon should be tied to a branch of a tree in a plant pot. http://i.imgur.com/kqK9iUa.jpg Chapter 2: The Unfinished Empire Stage 1: The Empty City Balloon 1/4: From the start of the level, go straight on past the sleeping giant and the bridge with the waterwheel switch. Go up the short flight of stairs, through the gate and on until you get to another gate. You should see a blue balloon in front of you. Shoot through the bars of the gate to get it. http://i.imgur.com/3UkBprG.jpg Storybook Page 1/2: Lower the bridge by using the switch. Then cross halfway along the bridge and turn round to face the way you came. Slightly to the right should be a golden “S” on the wall. http://i.imgur.com/fIB0reR.jpg Storybook Page 2/2: When you first cross the upturned boat, follow the passageway and at the end you should see a golden “B” on the wall in front of you. You can’t miss this one. http://i.imgur.com/5rwj3b4.jpg Balloon 2/4: Hard to miss this one. When you go up the ladder through the small manhole, a pink balloon will be floating right in front of you. http://i.imgur.com/yZm2gkv.jpg Balloon 3/4: After raising the water level, cross the river using the upturned boat. Instead of following the swan footprints, turn left instead and head up the stairs. A blue balloon sits right in front of you attached to a lantern. http://i.imgur.com/Q8JGVBP.jpg Balloon 4/4: When you enter the dark tunnel, hug the left wall and use your paintballs to find a passageway to the left. Go up the stairs and you should find a yellow balloon in the room at the top. http://i.imgur.com/Bn4ts70.jpg Stage 2: Scaffolding Balloon 1/5: Climb up the ladder with the red switch and before you climb up the next ladder, spot this blue balloon on an adjacent rooftop. http://i.imgur.com/GhVUFNb.jpg Balloon 2/5: Climb to the top of the scaffolding and shoot the yellow balloon at the top. http://i.imgur.com/OeqQzCu.jpg Balloon 3/5: Follow the path you must take up two short ladders, and this green balloon should be in plain sight. http://i.imgur.com/Qv632so.jpg Balloons 4&5/5: At the end of a level, attached to the handle of the doorway you must pass through. http://i.imgur.com/hloyx6E.jpg There are no storybook pages in this stage. Darth_Krid
Stage 3: New Growth Balloons 1,2&3/8: Go to the mound of dead vines in the middle of the courtyard and turn left. Go up the stairs and go round the corner. Go through the gate and destroy the 3 balloons attached to a bench here. http://i.imgur.com/npyn7DK.jpg Storybook Page 1/1: On the back wall behind the mound of dead vines, you should easily see the golden “A”. You need to climb this wall anyway, so you can’t miss it. http://i.imgur.com/qi8Biy0.jpg Balloon 4/8: When you climb up the wall where you got that last storybook page, you will immediately see this green balloon attached to a pot in front of you. http://i.imgur.com/6bGdcuT.jpg Balloon 5/8: You should be able to see the next red balloon in the background. Climb up the wooden arch to reach it. http://i.imgur.com/GmhRjBt.jpg Balloon 6/8: This one is hard to miss. After climbing a few more walls, you should see some golden swan footprints on the ground. Look to the left of these and see a blue balloon tied to a railing. http://i.imgur.com/pt8QeYq.jpg Balloon 7/8: Climb up the next wall, and grow the vines onto the whale wire sculpture. A short cutscene will play, where the vines dislodge the balloon, so you don’t even need to shoot it. http://i.imgur.com/9edSWHZ.jpg Balloon 8/8: The final red balloon can not be missed. Once you climb a ladder there should be a long golden pipe to your left. Walk forward a bit and you should see this tied to a lantern. http://i.imgur.com/RCJR9pH.jpg Stage 4: The Palace Balloon 1/5: At the start of the level, climb up the tree. This red balloon is located at the end of a branch leading off to the right http://i.imgur.com/qNtQWIL.jpg Balloon 2/5: From the last balloon, turn round and take the next right up another branch, where another red balloon awaits at the end. http://i.imgur.com/8w2aive.jpg Balloon 3/5: This one is located in the hedge maze. You don’t even need to enter the maze properly, but can instead jump across the hedges. You should see this red balloon in the distance, so hop along the hedges until you reach it. http://i.imgur.com/BqIB8Eq.jpg Storybook Page 1/1: Carry on jumping across the maze until you reach the back wall. On this wall, a golden “U” should be in plain sight. http://i.imgur.com/Qyvc3dP.jpg Balloon 4/5: Climb up the chimney in the dining room, and once you reach the rooftop turn around and climb up the crates. Turn right and follow the alley down until you see a red balloon tied to a plant pot. http://i.imgur.com/ohAfQXf.jpg Balloon 5/5: When you reach the broken wooden bridge that you have to jump down, turn around and look through the gate. From here you can shoot the red balloon behind it. http://i.imgur.com/wYGNh2q.jpg Stage 5: The Seawall Balloon 1/5: As soon as the stage begins, look to your left to spot this very easy blue balloon. http://i.imgur.com/xYZ5Vcc.jpg Storybook Page 1/2: Just beyond this balloon you should see a golden “T” on the wall. Shoot this too. http://i.imgur.com/xQpx0DG.jpg Balloon 2/5: Go up to the telescope which you use to obtain the Telescopic trophy. Look to the right of it behind the wall and you should see this blue balloon floating. http://i.imgur.com/PVZyqZP.jpg Balloon 3/5: Later in the level, you will jump down across 4 light blue platforms. The second of them has a set of swan footprints on them. Once you get to the fourth and final one, look over the left side for a white beam sticking out. Drop down to the beam, and go through the entrance to the building. The light blue balloon should be immediately in front of you. http://i.imgur.com/cGLsaxV.jpg Storybook Page 2/2: Just before climbing up the pipe which leads to the fire hose, you can not miss this golden “T” on the wall in front of you. http://i.imgur.com/3LHhXYs.jpg Balloon 4/5: When you grab the fire hose, turn around and shoot the purple balloon tied to the spire of the building in the distance. http://i.imgur.com/qWvCX3c.jpg Balloon 5/5: The final balloon is light blue and is located on the bridge below you. Again, spray it with the fire hose. Note: For some reason, the screenshot I took of this balloon didn't save, but it is located exactly where my cursor is on the image below http://i.imgur.com/OxCSLQX.jpg Stage 6: The Belltower Storybook Page 1/2: This is one of the easiest in the game. When the writing “The Belltower” appears on the wall right at the start, the camera will pan back to your view and this golden “E” will be right in front of you. http://i.imgur.com/ESksQPM.jpg Storybook Page 2/2: When you are climbing the outside of the tower and are going up some wooden steps, you should see this golden “W” on the floor in front of you. http://i.imgur.com/if4KOED.jpg Balloon 1/1: There is only one balloon on this level and it is located in the exact same spot as the previous storybook page. Look up and slightly to the right, and this blue balloon should be tied to a lantern. http://i.imgur.com/rvX40eI.jpg Chapter 3: Nighttime Stage 1: The Woods Balloon 1/6: Go just past the first light and you should see swan footprints in front of you. Look up and slightly to the left and you should see this balloon in the silhouette of the moon. http://i.imgur.com/i2Nw6MT.jpg Balloon 2/6: When you see the first light blue light in the level, this yellow balloon should be right next to it. http://i.imgur.com/0W2cZDw.jpg Balloon 3/6: When you push the purple ball underneath an archway made from a broken tree and a fallen-down monument, you should see this red balloon floating on the ledge to the left. http://i.imgur.com/Xu6GlRY.jpg Balloon 4/6: This light blue balloon is right in your path, just to the right before the half-log that acts as a chute for the purple ball. http://i.imgur.com/ivsgJoc.jpg Balloon 5/6: This is the toughest balloon in the game to find. Soon after the previous balloon, the purple ball will roll down a hill very fast. Run down to the bottom of the hill and push the ball back up the hill with your paintballs. About halfway up and to the right should be a red balloon trapped between jagged teeth-like rocks. The balloon radar will be especially helpful here. http://i.imgur.com/TgaQ3Bs.jpg Balloon 6/6: You end up pushing the purple ball through a small tunnel. When you emerge from the tunnel, turn around and you should see this red balloon floating above the entrance. You will need to jump up to reach it. http://i.imgur.com/JQrPmZ5.jpg There are no storybook pages in this stage. Stage 2: The River Balloon 1/2: Follow the river on the right-hand bank. Keep an eye out on the opposite side, and shortly you should see a red balloon floating in an opening, just before the bridge with the frog. http://i.imgur.com/UZfbrA3.jpg Balloon 2/2: After the first waterfall, the ball will become stuck in a floating branch, and there should also be a crocodile to the right. Just behind the crocodile is this red balloon.  http://i.imgur.com/i3QS5I2.jpg Storybook Page 1/2: After the previous balloon, you have to navigate the purple ball around some floating rocks in the river. Just to the left of these is a platform with a golden “T” on the back wall. http://i.imgur.com/klPe6QN.jpg Storybook Page 2/2: At the end of the river, you should see a house in front of you. Look to the right and you will see a golden “T” on the wall above a barrel on its side. http://i.imgur.com/FUIpJYI.jpg Edited May 31, 2015 by Warbear Editorial Sweep
Darth_Krid
Stage 3: Home Balloon 1/3: Before you enter the painting, go behind it and climb up the small wooden ramp to hit this pink balloon http://i.imgur.com/3Gj1V05.jpg Balloon 2/3: Jump through the picture frame and immediately turn around. The next pink balloon will be tied to the top of the frame http://i.imgur.com/gjM9Hgv.jpg Balloon 3/3: When you eventually reach the façade of the house, don’t go through the door. Instead, go around the back of it and shoot the pink balloon. http://i.imgur.com/H3JOCkH.jpg Storybook Page 1/1: When you enter the house, walk into the room and turn right, You should see a golden “B” in the room to the right. http://i.imgur.com/qUNaIgC.jpg Stage 4: The Nursery Balloon 1/6: As soon as the level begins, turn left and walk out onto the balcony. This balloon should be here. http://i.imgur.com/Xu0FebV.jpg Storybook Page 1/2: This is to the right of the beginning, just to the left of the blue picture frame that you have to jump into. Look for a golden letter “E”. http://i.imgur.com/NxeOScu.jpg Balloon 2/6: When you fall through the blueprint, stand on the very edge and look to the right. You should see a blue balloon poking out from behind a wall. http://i.imgur.com/uYwj5vP.jpg Balloon 3/6: When you come out the back of the house, you will see a red balloon in a tree. To get it, work your way over to the enclosed shelter and shoot it. http://i.imgur.com/DWPkMeZ.jpg Balloon 4/6: Working your way up the tower, you have to climb a broken yellow ladder. When you climb to the top, this red balloon should be outside the window directly in front of you. http://i.imgur.com/clR4lzi.jpg Balloon 5/6: The next balloon is on the very top of the tower. Make a little ramp using the small blueprint section at the base of the dome, and jump and fire to hit this balloon. http://i.imgur.com/eMoFxaV.jpg Storybook Page 2/2: Right at the end of the level before you cross the river, you should see a gold letter “O” illuminated on a wall by a lantern. http://i.imgur.com/NonM2nD.jpg Balloon 6/6: The last balloon on this level is right next to the storybook page on the left. http://i.imgur.com/730asLY.jpg Stage 5: The King’s Monument Storybook Page 1/2: As soon as you jump off the boat at the beginning, this letter “F” should be right in front of you. http://i.imgur.com/TY0uB5L.jpg Storybook Page 2/2: As you approach the electrified ladder, just before it you should see a golden letter “T” on a rock to the right. Congratulations, this is the last storybook page in the game and your Page Turner trophy should pop! http://i.imgur.com/3iJ4gGi.jpg Balloon 1/5: In front of the electrified ladder and between two blue electricity cables, you should see a hole in the ground partially covered. Look down it and shoot the balloon in there. http://i.imgur.com/WV0rTZj.jpg Balloon 2/5: Stand in front of the electrified lemon. Turn to the right and look up and you should see this balloon floating in the corner. http://i.imgur.com/SLgBxsQ.jpg Balloon 3/5: Just before you enter the tower and climb up the spiral staircase, look to the right and you should see this balloon right in front of you. http://i.imgur.com/hcWuzNn.jpg Balloon 4/5: When you go through the hole in the top of the tower, turn round and climb up the wall as high as you can. Look up and to the right and you should see this balloon silhouetted in the moonlight on the edge of a wooden beam. http://i.imgur.com/TQ4jXfE.jpg Balloon 5/5: As you climb up the tower, you should see this one off to the right on a wooden tower round the back, just before you climb the ladder that acts as a ramp. http://i.imgur.com/URQv7hq.jpg Chapter 4: The King’s Dream Stage 1: The Beginning Balloon 1/3: Stand in front of the mirror in the first room and strafe to the right into the white void. You should see a pink balloon in front of you. http://i.imgur.com/CwisFX5.jpg Balloon 2/3: When the talking bust of the king falls and breaks the wall, turn around and look up to spot this light blue balloon.  http://i.imgur.com/oCHg7Cb.jpg Balloon 3/3: When you reach the giant swan’s head, climb up the wall using the vines and look above you. You should see a pink balloon hanging upside-down from a pot. http://i.imgur.com/3JLLo8T.jpg Stage 2: The Middle There are no balloons on this stage. Stage 3: The End Balloon 1/2: Floating down the river, you should soon come across a teddy bear illuminated by a glowing purple ball. This red balloon is unmissable right next to it. http://i.imgur.com/SPMSZBF.jpg Balloon 2/2: When you jump out of the window of the building at the end, walk over to the left and find this last balloon tied to a gravestone. Congratulations, you have collected all the balloons and your Balloonist trophy should pop! http://i.imgur.com/m4ovZAT.jpg Edited May 31, 2015 by Warbear Editorial Sweep

Thrippa
Excellent guide. I was a bit disappointed to finish the first playthrough with all the pages, but after the second playthrough (using the balloon radar ) to pick up the balloons I missed, I was utterly perplexed by that one balloon in the woods. Even with your explanation, it took me twenty minutes and the ink hose to bully that stupid light back up the slope high enough to find the balloon. I'm a Balloonist now! Thanks muchly! Now to go throw some boxes . . .
