Default Better than the original?

I haven't played a MvC game before, when I first saw this game awhile back it looked pretty interesting. Is this version worth the purchase, or should I just get the original for cheaper?

I would definitely say to purchase this version. I don't see the original for that much cheaper (lowest I've seen was around $23). Buying the new version gives you 12 more characters than the original has, as well as a handful of new modes. Also, the online for Ultimate is definitely going to be more lively than the original (if not already).

Sounds good, I'm not the best at fighting games, is there a large learning curve for this game at all?

Not at all. Comparatively, it's one of the easiest fighters out there to pick up. The only fighter that's probably easier to pick up than this is Super Smash Bros. Brawl lol. It is however pretty hard to get extremely good at this game.

MvC has a pretty easy learning curve but high level play is a lot more chaotic than most fighters.

However that's high level which is something you won't be affected by unless you truly want to get in.

*Most characters can do a simple combo by just doing > > > > > > > .

*specials for the most part are the same universal button*

*simple/intermediate combos have lax timing compared to most games*

etc..

I know I sure am glad they decided to make an Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3. I remember being in highschool when MvC2 was coming out and wishing for a Cable, Silver Surfer, and a Ghost Rider. But hey, 2 out of 3 ain't bad...

The characters are pretty well balanced and a lot of things are quite different (music, stages, etc.) but some of the newer characters are a little bit overpowered *cough* Iron Fist *cough*

Given the amount of content as well as the price, I might get this eventually. The original version wasn't bad.
