Racing? In a Twisted Metal game?

Having trouble with this trophy, even on Normal.

Any tips? i've tried using kamizake, reaper and still cant finish it with no missed gates

I tried Kamikaze as well and raced like a maniac, missing 11 gates. They guy in the vid used Death Warrant and it seems to work. You have to keep in mind that you don't have to come in first place, 4th is just fine. Considering some of the enemies will die during the race it doesn't seem to be that hard

Try Shadow or Roadboat. They are fast, tough, and have good specials.

What helped me is when i changed my mode of thinking.

Its not really a race, per say. It's more of a memory game. Keep replaying until you know the checkpoints by heart. Trial & error your way to victory

There is one tricky checkpoint that is very close to a mountain (which you need to jump to advance) near the back of the city hall.

Use one of the faster cars
you could use the unlimited ammo glitch and Crimson Fury and spam his secondary special to keep guys away from you and allow you the space to speed off

BTW - whoever thought that races would be good in TM should be beaten about the face and neck until either bloody or unconscious.

I'm sure that I nailed all the gates and obviously won the DM at the end, but didn't have the trophy go off. Do you have to be in first place entering the stadium, or just not miss the gates and finish the DM?

Deathwarrant, BTW, is a well balanced car for this race.

Just an update to anyone who may have the same issue (since I appreciate you've probably done it after 3 weeks!)

I've heard that it glitches for some people and hence you need to be first into the stadium, though it should work being 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th so long as you win the death match at the end.

Personally I used Crimson Fury (no glitches) and did it on my second try. Might have just been a lucky run but I didn't find it difficult at all since I barely had any interaction with enemies.

death warrant is the best vehicle for racing IMO
decent armor, good speed and excellent control
try using that

I can't see why you need armour in races because people barely shoot you, and definitely never enough to kill you. However, I do agree that control is an important factor. Crimson Fury is super fast but he controls horribly because his turning is far too sensitive and you have to be a Jedi Knight to be able to respond to it quickly enough.

Kamikaze is also good for races as his alternate special freezes anyone nearby - always useful! He is also very fast and controls well.
