Ridiculous scores

I was looking at the global leaderboards and noticed that there's people with literally BILLIONS of points. My highscore is 10 million and i'm level 53, but i've only played without bonusses and totems so far because i wanne save as many crystals as i can and start using them once i levelled up all perks. I was just wondering if the bonusses and totems make that much of a difference that you can go up from millions to hundreds of millions. Are these people just extremely skilled, am i missing some kind of trick or are they cheaters?

My best score is 44M, I was 23rd worldwide with this score last week. I can totally see me doing 100M one day. But 2 billions? That looks crazy. Don't know if they cheat or if they're very lucky and get a ton of chrono bonus making their game basically endless.

Bonus make a huge difference, don't hope to do that kind of score if you're not using them. Hell, Robin, your 10M score without them is very impressive, I think my best one is near 8M in this condition.

Well it was 9,45 million to be brutally honest! Which combination of bonusses and totems do you use?

It depends of what I research to do but generally:

-purple and orange totems
-dynamite, lightning and extra time bonuses

OMG...i just did an 18,2 million score without bonusses and totems...i had a combo going almost from beginning to end! I wanted to make a screenshot but i was just too late...now i can only prove i made the score but not that i did it without bonusses. I can't wait to play this game once i'm level 70 and start using the perks!

Higher scores will come once you level up the bonuses. I couldnt get past 500k until I managed to level up a few of the on board bonuses. I'm low level now, probably 12 or 15 or so, but I can hit 2 mil, so I assume once I level up a lot more, the same skill level will get me higher scores.

i'm only level 8 and got 1 million something. all i cared about was beating my bro in law. his highest score was only 400,000 or something.

how do you get to such a high level? it will take forever to get to the next level having to turn off the bonuses

The XP you get equals 1% of your score, so if you get higher scores you level up faster. I get around 1 million points on average per game and sometimes get major scores in between 4 to 10 million...and then once i had the 18,2 million which instantly made me level up 2 stages even then being like level 53 already!

Most likely they are just good. My best is 123 million to date, and I was 16th for the week with that. The game lasted 14 minutes and was very draining. Most weeks I'm between 15 and 25 million though.

To get such high scores you basically have to add the time totem and the time bonus. Also add the purple totem (to add bonuses) and some explosions (lightning + dynamite for me). Instead of spending your time looking for matches, you need to spend your time trying to get 4 in a row (for bonuses), 2 purple matches in a row (for bonuses), or 2 orange totems in a row (for time). Remember that a percentage of the bonuses they add are time bonuses. This is why you need to use those. The whole key to having the very high score is to get the game lasting as long as possible. More time = more points. If your time never ends, then your scores keep going up. You get the picture, but most just try to match as quickly as possible. Another thing I try to do is to keep a combo going as it gives much higher score than faster more broken up matching. What I mean is that I sometimes wait on a match until stuff drops, so that I can have more choices and keep my combo going.
