The question we all have...will it work with US (NTSC) TV's? EU/PAL?

I have a friend who has most of the trophies and is not in Japan. It seems you can technically get it to register video view counts but not view television if I'm correct?

anyway i should have said that i also have it and live in japan which is why i could write the poorly worded post i did before.

i just can't seem to get that trophy for watching all genres even though i completed the trophies for all specific genres! i've been recording even the miscellaneous ones!
granted, i still don't have the 100 hours one but man... how many of each genre do i need to get it all and all registered?

Has most of the trophies and is not in Japan? that seems to unlikely unless he used it while in Japan or had a friend use his account.

the problem is that "torne" has to schedule video recording based on tv listings.
if the guy somehow has japanese tv listings, or they've expanded the game to accept foreign listings... they should advertise it for foreigners so they can take advantage and make a lot of money!

anyway, i am not calling you out. i'm just curious if it works with other tv listings too! keep researching that one!

Not really , Japan has international laws & yes , when you buy a game from Japan ; that is why it states "FOR JAPAN ONLY" . Though , their customs most likely turn a blind eye .

However , i would say torne could be localized w/o much trouble, but may take time for NA and EU , due to the broadcast stations that vary from country to country .

Well I figured one thing about it: since Torne is mostly usable for the ISDB-T digital TV designation, could that work on non-japan countries that use ISDB-T? (I know because that hardware was configured to run on ISDB-T tv's.)

Yes that's what seems to have happened, he must have had a person from Japan go on his account...

Anyway I have had torne for a few months now and will try anything (work-arounds, etc) I can get the trophies (US here).

I still can not get the all genre GOLD trophy myself. it is not the actual genre that the program is looking for, like news, movie, etc. its the SUB GENRE! of which there are about 50! so you need to record and watch at least 1 of each. there is a problem though, because some genres are rare, or do not broadcast in every area. for example in the hobby genre the sub genre of cars/ motobikes does NOT air in my area EVER! but it does in tokyo. theres 4 or 5 i think that i have to record to get the trophy, but it looks like it may NEVER happen!

I have been searching some of the japanese bbs about torne and A LOT of people are also complaining that they can not get the gold, going back to about may of last year. it could be that almost nobody has the gold because the correct genre of tv show has not aired where everyone in japan can record it. that and the next time it does air might get missed and not run again for a long time again!

Just learned about this today. Interesting way of giving out trophies. One wonders why Sony doesn't have trophies for Home since that would increase activity since we all love Free trophies.
