Is this game multiplayer?

I know this is a remake of a older game since i had it for super nintendo. Anyway i wanted to know if its able to be played with more than one player. If i remember correctly, it let two players play, but did they change that?

It would be awesome if they had 4 player, but from the guide, it seems its single player. That leaves me to question does this have 2 player co op?
