I think John Noble and Anna Torv did mention in interviews that 4-seasons is enough for the show and want it to end at S4. I kinda feel that way as well. I just want things to wrap up nicely instead of turning into another "Lost".

The problem is Lost went out exactly how and when they wanted to, i dont think this show will get that opportunity

Oh and it needs a full season because well it just does to finish things up, because Fringe is one of those shows that have planed how to do things and say ok five seasons then the plot ends. Shows like Lost did it and Supernatural was going to be doing that.

lol respect, fox doesn't respect anyone no matter the talent, at least if what they did to Joss Whedon and all, one being having him altering the pilot to Doll House that caused it to crash and burn.

Oh and then there is the fact they screwed Chris Cater over on every single show he made for them, they forced him to give X-files several more seasons then he wanted it to have, they put lonegun men at a time that noone would watch it and when people did stop watching it they shoved it to friday and then with Harsh Realms they let it reach 3 episodes before giving it the boot, but still gave it a dvd, but didn't let him make a ending to it. So fox broke Carter and he stopped making tv shows.
Well, that is true... Fox cuts a lot of good shows based on ratings... even if the ratings are 5 million viewers... Poor Lie To Me and Human Target...

But, based on ratings, they should've canned Fringe long ago. There must be a reason to why they aren't canning it... They may not respect anyone else, but it could be that is the reason why they are keeping Fringe. Otherwise, it just doesn't fit Fox's "personality" with keeping shows.

I really hope they do keep it on for one more season.

Yup I remember seeing something about stations cutting shows for little or no reason and fox was the worst by far, makes me wonder how they lasted so long, then again when they started they where smart enough not to throw out hit shows like the Simpsons and Married With Children.

That is true, I always have been wondering why they have kept the show, made me happy they have been but still no real solid idea why, best bet is someone high up being a fan. Also one of the several thoughts I had that someone is a big fan of John, but yeah hard to tell why. But in the end just thank god that it still is on.

Oh also Because House is coming to a end is sad, but it might be good news for Fringe, because Fox wouldn't be smart to can one of its unique shows because after both of them are gone and they really won't have anything on but the simpsons.

J.J Abrams and company already knew this was going to happen from this season forward since they even prepared a "possible" ending for Fringe that could also continue the story if needed be.

I'll go ahead and calm your fears: Fringe has not yet been cancelled, and there's still a significant chance that it will be renewed for a shortened fifth season. But that doesn't mean that the show isn't preparing for an end game of some sort.

Titles for the final stretch of episodes this season have been revealed, featuring some pretty thought-provoking stuff. Of course, Friday's episode is "Nothing As It Seems," an outing that hearkens back to the show's monster-themed episode of season one, "The Transformation."

The April 6 episode, 4.17, is titled "Everything in Its Right Place." The episode, which will center on agent Lincoln Lee (Seth Gabel) traveling over to the alternate universe, is named after the Radiohead song of the same name, from the 2000 album Kid A. If you haven't heard the song, you should give it a listen; there's definitely a Fringe-y vibe going on there.

"The Consultant" is 4.18, which sees "Walter [traveling] to the Alternate Universe to assist in the investigation of a Fringe event with ties to both worlds. Meanwhile, David Robert Jones reveals his next target."

And then there's the title of the highly secretive episode 4.19, which guest stars Henry Ian Cusick (LOST) and Georgina Haig as "agents" of some kind. The episode, like "Brown Betty" and "Lysergic Acid Diethylamide" before it, will be a mold-breaker that revamps the show entirely; "Brown Betty" was a musical episode, "Lysergic Acid Diethylamide" was about 70% animated. No one knows what the episode will be like, but we do know the title: "Letters of Transit."

And, as we get into the final stretch of episodes, we know that episode 4.20 will be titled "World Apart." Finally, the two-part season finale has a title as well: "End Game." That's a title that sounds both ominous for the characters and for the show itself, and only reinforces the fact that the producers have planned for this episode to work as a finale in the face of the show's possible cancellation. It's a scary thought, but nonetheless one that I'm excited to see. (It's also fun to note that there was an episode earlier this season called "The End of All Things.")

So really if it does go on, its only because so it can either be wrapped up or just so Fox has some kinda show for it to attract viewers as it makes something to replace the shows ending, as it would be shooting themselves in the foot to take two good shows off at the same time and have nothing for next season.

Thanks! I saw this somewhere before. It's a good thing they are "sort of" wrapping it up... I would like to have a "full" wrap up, so let's hope for a season 5.

I thought Letters of Transit was terrible. Maybe it will make sense once the rest of this season airs but watching it last night all I could think was how pointless it was how much of a shit I didn't give.

Rejoice, there shall be a 5th season for Fringe! So we can probably expect a full wrap up most likely.

Quote:
The news is in for Fringe fans who have been keeping their digits crossed for word of a renewal:

The sci-fi cult favorite from J.J. Abrams will end its run next year with a 13-episode fifth season, the network confirms.

“The amazing work the producers, writers and the incredibly talented cast and crew have delivered the last four seasons has literally been out of this world. Although the end is bittersweet, it’s going to be a very exciting final chapter.”
