i completed all the trials with a ps3 controller set to default config. the only trial i changed it for was juri's 24.
i did try to set focus attack to a button for some of the trials that had an awkward FADC but i think i ended up changing it back to default. i think that's really all you can do. i'm not sure about a stick, though.

There isnt such thing as best configuration its all about your preference.
Most of the trials can be done by default. If you are having trouble with some of them just try to use the buttons you feel most comfortable with. Having focus in one button helps a lot at some trials. Also try to minimize buttons you need to press. For example if one trial includes both a jumping heavy kick and an ultra with all 3 kicks you can use one button for both. Most of the trials are mostly muscle memory so you have to repeat them a lot no matter the placement of the buttons and that includes both stick and dual shock. |

If you're just interested in getting platinum and don't care about actually getting good at the game (I was in this boat but now I really wish I'd done them properly), then your best bet is to re map the buttons for every single semi-difficult trial. Personally I always mapped Focus Attack to R1 and then would try and get the rest of the buttons onto the face of the controller, and beside each other too, for example if the combo had LP-> MK-> LK -> c.HK, I'd map it like this:
-> -> -> , so each attack would be in sequence anticlockwise around the face of the controller. You would seldom need more than the 4 face button, L1 and R1 to do any given trial so this strategy worked very well for me. I can guarantee that doing it this way is easier than actually using a default config. However if you do go down this route, don't expect yourself to improve much at the game itself, you won't be able to pull off combos well in matches since you won't have the inputs worked into your muscle memory. Like for me, Focus cancelling is second nature so long as FA is mapped to R1, but I can't do it at all when I have to press the MP and MK buttons. So if you do want to improve, find a default configuration your comfortable with and stick with it for the vast majority of the trials. Of course some trials are very hard and impractical, so for those you're better of just re mapping to get them over with.

YAH USE TYPE A! Shift the x3 Punch and Kick to the Right Triggers and put regular HP/HK to the left!
That's it! Also map certain individual trials accordingly! Like I for VIPER 25 I like to put HP on Square so that I Can cancel easily! That way to get HP -> EX Punch -> Cancel -> HP I can easily go : Down + -> Right + -> Down + -> Down + BAM BAM BAM BAM! Last edited by NewVincent; 08-09-2012 at 10:58 AM. |
