Player match help

I must be completely stupid but how do you play a "player match" against a friend online? All I see or am able to get into are ranked matches.

Also, how do you send an invite? All I see is a "Confirm Invitation" button.

I'm sorry if I'm overlooking something obvious but I've been looking all over the menus for the last hour and cant seem to find it

Endless Battle > Create your own

Then you can invite someone
