I'm starting this thread because it seems a lot of people are having difficulty with the disc golf. Personally it's one of my favorite events. It would be good to see a thread started on the others too.
A good tip for someone going for 3 stars or just to win, is an exploit with quiting. When you quit the game and continue progress you will start off on the last hole you were playing. Therefore, If your opponent scored a birdie or you messed up, just quit and go back in and it will start you off on the same hole with a clean slate. Also, your score rating will depend heavily on your score below par and your strokes below your opponent. Winning by 5 or 6 strokes almost assures 3 stars. As far as throwing it, try doing the challenge mode and getting the 5000 points. You will develop a nice smooth and accurate delivery and you don't have to wait to throw your next one. This is where the PS3 Move sets the Wii-Slackers from those who actually play sports outside (I'm somewhere in between).
I can already tell from the Youtube video demos that the Dualshock feature in the Move controller plays a big part in this. Watch the video and see how NOT to pivot the disc. The guy obviously never played with a Frisbee enough time to know that pivoting the disc in the proper angle makes all the difference in the world. He continuously pivoted the disc upward as he threw for Hole 1. Keep your wrist straight as possible when you toss. Also, time the trigger release appropriately. Too soon will send the disc too far outwards. Too late will send the disc inwards. Just right will give you the most straight toss possible. If you want to practice, go outside and toss a real Frisbee around to see the difference. I don't need to play the game to know that pivoting the disc slightly downward will give you the most accurate shot on Hole 1.

Thanks for fixing it!
I use more of a flick than a full arm motion. Kind of like when throwing a real frisbee. You're right, the plane of the frisbee is very important. The more you angle it, the more it will curve. I try to consciously keep my arm straight and almost throw it slightly down. I've gotten 3 Aces on the first hole doing that.

I just find disc golf to be incredibly inconsistent. For instance I was playing bronze cup match 5 against Dallas. The little prick cpu gets an ace (hole in one) on the first damn hole. Play him again and he shoots double bogey, double bogey, and I beat him on the 3rd hole but he was on course for another double bogey. It just seems very inconsistent.

You mean the competition is inconsistent? I don't know what to say to that. |
