I figured this out a while back, but only recently started talking in these forums. You have to be at Dr. Robotnik (code is fine), and you need to know which direction turns the blocks, but other than that I did this method twice in a row, and help a friend get his platinum with it.

Once you can see the next block coming out (while the one you are supposed to be placing is near the top), you can hit the select button. Then move the cursor to the "save" button and click it. Then not only does your save icon come up, but so does the rest of the screen with all of the blocks you've put down and what's coming. Now you can wait and strategize what to do on this block and the next. Then while that reserve block is coming out and the next reserve block appears you can repeat the process. Just be ready to quickly place that block and slam the select button again!
