Don't quite understand this game

So, players control the flying guy hit something and then do a tetris block. After that the block itself will do the shooting and players go on flying around and fight for more blocks. Am I right?

I have played for around an hour and that is basically what the game is about. I'm having fun with the game so far.

So, can u tell me if you concentrate to smash things? build things? or really need to handle both?

The guns seems so automatic to me.

I just beat the campaign and I really enjoyed all 3 boss fights. They were fun.
I concentrate on building things and killing ninjas because they drop very useful power ups.
