Depend of your experience with fighting games.
Is Street Fighter or King of Fighters the only exposure to the 2D fighting games you have? then yes, you will need to lear a lot of mechanics inherent to high combo and air dash friendly fighting games. Do you have experience with Fighting Games like DarkStalkers, Guilty Gear, BlazBlue, Marvel Vs Capcom 2/3 or similar? then is nothing you haven't experienced before, its all the good things from this sort of games minus the some glitches or annoyance than those may have. Also, don't underestimate the 8 available characters, SG (like BB) have every single character playing different from the others. |

The difficulty seems almost random at times I swear.
I blazed through my first story on the easy setting, then the next play-through seemed nearly impossible, and on a third run I blazed through again. Love the game regardless, just seems sort of wacky. |

I noticed a few problems with this game. One example being the hitbox for Ms. Fortune doesn't properly display at times, one in particular is during Valentine's flatliner. She will either miss or hit twice and then drop her.
Another is that training mode has a problem with some of the move registrations, as well as requiring speed that makes me feel as if I have to button mash to get through the combo. The last issue that needs a serious overhaul is the final boss. The fact that you can't pull off any real sort of a combo against her is a big problem. She also can summon way too many things at once (a skeleton grab and then a bone dragon right on top of you? Can I call b*lls***?) Furthermore, blocking is virtually pointless as the attacks go through anyway. Now multiplayer wise it is very solid, single player needs some work though. |

I'm finally getting the hang of it. I was able to beat arcade mode and story mode with Cerebella on the easiest setting and I was able to unlock two trophies (Happy Birthday and Breaking the Cycle), when I played it on the "ridiculous" setting.

They've admitted that the AI is a bit over the top and may fix that
As for Marie you just have to constantly block and find the Anti-AI shes weak too for the particular character youre using, for most its c.HP or c.HK, for painwheel (at least on easy) you can tear Marie up with j.HP (I think its HP) and for Parasoul I found that c.HP tears up form 1, c.HK tears up form 2, and her level 3 super absolutely demolishes form 3 So, yeah, Skullgirls is a learning experience, just like MvC2 was for the lead designer back in the day |

I'm ridiculously bad at any fighting game, although I like them, and have played many. I guess it's just not in my blood. That said, this post is probably totally not legitimate.
Somebody mentioned a wacky AI...I'm playing it on sleepwalk, and sort of noticed something. Both Peacock and Fortune seem overpowered, not in strength but in how they fight. Like their style is way up the scale compared to the others. Peacock is a projectile character and is really tough to get close to. I love the character, but damn she pisses me off. Fortune is downright crazy, and seems to rely on her combos the most. I,m never fast enough to protect myself from her mix ups. It's almost insane that she has good combos, and a type of projectile attack to boot...(kicking her head at you) She's speedy and kicks my ass all the time. I can beat most characters easy enough, but whenever I fight those two, I always have such a hard time, whoever I'm using. (I do best with Felia or Valentine) So is it possible that those two characters are unfairly balanced, or is it that I just can't get used to their styles and patterns? Peacock has a unique style, and I think it's just that I can't hack it, but fortune just seems mental no matter what I do...she reminds me of Setsuka from Soul Calibur III. |
